Label:

==Introduction==

I once saw they were making this one a while back yeah, as soon as I saw it and got my hands on it, it was going to be put on the website. My love for Belgian stouts has been a long time coming and with Garage Brewing coming up with some barrel aged magic and some nice adjuncts to the styles, it is something that I really want to share here on the site. Let’s have a look, cheers!

Aromas:

Chocolate Milkshake, cherry chocolate, banana sundae, butterscotch, brown sugar, banana, hazelnut nectar, oak, marshmallow smores, banana, cherry yogurt, dark fruit raisins, fruit cake, prunes, plums, cherry cola, dark cherries and pecan pie.

Aftertaste:

Finishes with rich cherry chocolate cordials, banana sundae, milk shake, bourbon, oak, flan, vanilla, marshmallow, rocky road ice cream, and dulce de leche caramel. No alcohol in the taste despite the ABV. Dark crimson full body, smooth, creamy and velvety mouthfeel along with an easy to moderate drinkability.

Overall:

Freaking amazing! I swear, I had to stop myself from finishing the whole bottle in a sitting. It is very damn smooth and super easy to drink. I think aside from their first release of the Cherry Milk stout, this is the next big winner for me. It is amazing and I definitely recommend this highly to those that love Belgian stouts!

Anime Corner:

Amy Rose from the Sonic series was used in this pairing as a return to the original cherry stout pairing I did with the Dark Amy rose. Now the difference is with showing a different side of her with the barrel aged an vanilla aspects being complemented by her different cosplays.

Peanut Butter Jelly Crime by Superstition Meadery

Rating: 7/7

Peanut Butter Jelly Crime by Superstition Meadery is a 13% ABV Melomel/Mead made with Blueberries and peanuts.

Label:
Batch No. 6
Bottle 1428 of 3600

We did it. We put a peanut butter jelly sandwich in a bottle. Some would say that this is a crime against all that is decent in the world of craft beverages, but this Peanut Butter Jelly Crime has yet to receive judgement from you, a distinguished member of the jury. So carefully examine all of the evidence provided by the prosecution, and consider the alibi of the defense, as you decipher the multifaceted complexity of the case. As you enjoy PBJC, don’t forget the toast!

==Introduction==

Oh I heard of this one! Fuck yeah heard of this one. I herd of it so much that I hard damn time getting this one. There was only a single place that I knew of that had this mead on deck and that one the San Diego BestDamnBeerShop.com Granted, this bottle was expensive, but for the rarity and for what it was…(Let’s be honest, I had a sweet spot for peanut butter and PBJ anything) I could not pass up bringing this special mead to the site. Besides the fact that it is peanut butter, it is another reason for me to create my own peanut butter and jelly mead or beer! It is really inspiring and one that if I love this, will definitely figure out the recipe. Let’s have a look, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich dark fruits, blueberries, dark cherries, raisins, wine grapes, pomegranates, wild flower honey, mixed nut notes, Peanut butter for days, Nutter butter cookies, peanut butter brittle, banana hints, special pastries, chocolate, dark candy sugars, port wine, apple pie and fruit cake.

Flavors:
Rich blueberries, raspberries, dark fruit raisins, figs, dark cherries, cherry yogurt, raspberry chambord, cranberries, pomegranates, port wine, wine grapes, dark candi sugar, wild flower honey, butter scotch, peaches and cream, apple pie, candied apples, banana notes, banana cream notes, chocolate notes, rock candy, peanut butter, butter butter cookies, Reeces pieces, hazelnut, walnuts, pralines, pancakes, waffle cone, waffles, pecan pie, boysenberry cobbler, rye bread, biscuit bread, molasses, fruit cake, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel and flan.

Aftertaste:
Finishing sweet with lingering blueberries and mixed dark fruits along with that nice slippery, peanut buttery goodness, honey, banana, berry pastries, wine grapes, raspberry liqueur, mixed nuts and more. No alcohol in the taste, and very dangerous at that. The color is a magenta rose clear body, smooth, creamy, buttery and velvety mouthfeel along with a drinkability that is extremely easy and extremely dangerous. I think the crime part is starting to make sense.

Overall:
Hands down, next to the Dragon’s Milk aged mead, the best mead in fucken existence period! What is this?!?!! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!!!? Literal, peanut butter and jelly liquid bliss and not even the chocolate kind. Yesh, essentially the kind you can soak up in pancakes and have immediately. Everything I love about Peanut butter and Jelly, in mead form becomes a bigger punch in the face. Granted, the roasty chocolate and coffee found in beers with peanut butter and jelly help, in the hands of pure fermented honey seems like an unheard of ambrosia. There is a reason for the name. It is a crime if you finish this in one sitting but damn it is exquisitely tempting. I highly recommend it if you can find it.

Anime Corner:
Sasha Lilac was brought back for this pairing as I had decided to bring her for a another peanut butter and jelly pairing time. Now in order for this to work with the label and the theme of the mead, I had to mix the pairings to make it seems like crime fighting and investigating is part of the overall fight of the crime specified in the label. Examples include her reaching out in rage realizing what has happened in the game, one even involves taking down a suspect. Others seems more simple but have a them going that complements this story.

Coffee Bourbon Barrel Oil of Aphrodite by Jackie O’s brewing

Rating: 7/7

Coffee Bourbon Barrel Oil of Aphrodite by Jackie O’s brewing is a 12.1% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with Black Walnuts, Belgian Candied Sugar syrup, Coffee and aged in Bourbon Barrels.

Label:

==Introduction==

The elusive ambrosia of gods! This is the first time I try this beer but also anything Jackie O. Back in the day, I would always see this beer and others from Jackie O to not be able to find them anywhere I would look. It was only recently that I got a chance to snag a bottle from one of the local shops who had it only limiting one. I guess it really must be a gift from the gods. The bottle shows that it is made with Belgian Candi sugar and walnuts, DAMN! Sounded amazing. Especially since I have brewed beer and ciders with all kinds of Candi sugar so it is a very special ingredient indeed. I’m surprised it is not in the Belgian category but hey, it’s Greek themed so I would call it a Greek stout. Anyways let’s see what the goddess of beauty has left us mere mortals, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich pecan pie, walnuts, maple, peanut butter, hazelnut nectar, pralines, trail mix, rocky road ice cream, marshmallows, dark fruits, dark chocolate, dark fruit, banana, piloncillo sugar cone, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, smores, oak, bourbon, leather, tobacco, mocha, Irish cream, toasted coconut candy, tiramasu and fruit cake.

Flavors:
Pecan pie, walnuts, pralines, macadamia nuts, hazelnut nectar, cashew butter, almond joy chocolate, peanut butter, marzipan, mazapan, maple syrup, port wine, rocky road ice cream, jamoca ice cream, toasted coconut, Belgian dark candi sugar, molasses, star anise, rock candy, bananas, grilled plantains, Irish cream, fancy coffee, mocha, Khalua coffee Liquor, dark fruit raisins, raisins, figs, plums, cherry cordials, rye bread, tobacco, leather,. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, double chocolate, cherry chocolate cake, cookie dough ice cream, bourbon, oak, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, whipped cream, flan, sweetened condensed milk, marshmallow smores, tiramasu, coffee cake, fruit cake and earthy notes.

Aftertaste:
Finishing flavors of dark fruit, banana, lots of mixed nuts, almond joy chocolates, pecan pie, hazelnut nectar, cashews, dark chocolate, oak hints, bourbon notes, earthy notes, tiramasu, Belgian dark candi sugar, banana notes and port wine notes, No alcohol in the taste despite the 10% ABV, pitch black darkness supreme body, smooth, silky, creamy, velvity, chewy and syrupy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Nothing short of amazing! If this is what gods are drinking up in the celestial cosmos, this is damn insane! Truly like a love potion. Lots of rich nutty, chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, banana, bourbon and other special complex flavors. Describing this one would be to describe none other than a Bourbon Barrel Belgian Stout. Heck, One of my special brews “Sangrileche” edition 1 has elements found in this beer and even some aspects of edition 2. Simply glorifying!! If you love bourbon barrel imperial stouts, this one is definitely a must try if you can find or trade for it.

Anime Corner:
Ryoko Hakubi from Tenchi Muyou! Was used in this pairing to represent Aphrodite. A very beautiful woman. While some may disagree, beauty is skin deep. As you can see, Ryoko relaxing is like that of Aphrodite relaxing while her minions bring the oil. Heck in one of these pictures, Ryoko is literally covered in what appears to be oil so yeah, I think this overall pairing works well.

Black Butte XXIX 29th Birthday Reserve by Deschutes Brewery

Rating: 7/7

Black Butte XXIX 29th Birthday Reserve by Deschutes Brewery is a 12.2% ABV Imperial Porter brewed with Dutche cocoa, Saigon cinnamon, and cayenne. 50% aged in Bourbon and Rum barrels.

Label:
In celebration of our 29th anniversary this year’s Imperial Porter delivers notes of dark chocolate and cinnamon spice with hints of coconut, vanilla, and dried fruit finished by a warm dash of cayenne.

==Introduction==

Essentially a Double Barrel Porter aging in both Rum and Bourbon. Every year, I try to pick up this annual release of their anniversary beer. Each year is a different blend entirely and while I feel some blends I really liked for the ingredients used, overall, I think each installment is more and more delicious with time. This year they decided to go with a chocolate, cinnamon and cayenne take with Rum and bourbon. That is crazy using a double barrel half take with what seems to be like a Mexican inspiration. Let’s see how the flavors of this one are, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich piloncillo sugar cone, cinnamon, nutmeg, yams, sweet potato pie, vanilla, caramel, bananas, dark fruit prunes, raisins, plums, figs, dates, rum, bourbon, oak, mint, sweetened condensed milk, coconut and marshmallow smores.

Flavors:
Sweet potato pie, capirotada/Mexican yams, piloncillo sugar cone, maple srup, dark chocolate, chocolate milk shake Mexican Chocolate, Belgian chocolate, German Chocolate, Bakers Chocolate, cocoa powder, rum, bourbon, oak, Dark fruit prunes, raisins, plums, figs, dates, currants, cherries
Pancho Pantera chocolate milk shake, banana sundae. Sweetened condensed milk, flan, crème brulee, tres leches cake, pecan pie, bourbon, marshmallows, almond joy, toasted coconut, molasses, mint, clove spice, bananas, grilled plantains, Danish cream, rye bread, piña colada, oatmeal cookies, raisins bread and more!

Aftertaste:
Finishing with dark fruits, cinnamon, ginger bread, fruit cake, earthy notes, dark chocolate, pecan pie, tobacco, oak, marshmallows, floral tartness, caramel, vanilla and tobacco hints. No alcohol in the taste, Pitch Black Midnight Full body, silky, velvety and smooth mouthfeel and a super easy drinkability which is dangerous. Just like each year, its smoothness will make you want to drink the whole bottle in one sitting.

Overall:
Seems like every year, a different beer and a different way of preceiving the greatness which is the Black Butte anniversary. This year it seems more of a Mexican style of taste. While although spicy, the overall consensus, it was not super hot but definitely zlong the lines a Mexican desert flowing. Indeed this scream sweetness but the peppery heat is not present. Along with the many versions out there, this one should definitely be picked up!

Anime Corner:
Twili Midna from The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princes was chosen once again this year for the Black Butte release as well as the other releases. Just like previous tears, I had chosen her in the previous releases since I wanted to represent the mixing of 2 of the same ale together but one specially blended. Since I did not use the chibi version of Midna for this iteration, I figure I let the adult version of her do all the talking. In this year, the Chocolate, Cinnamon and cayenne represent somewhat of a Mexican Dark Mole feel to the beer. It is actually more towards a Mexican sweet potato pie if it was mixed in with Mexican Hot Chocolate. So since Midna has a cloak like the tilma of the virgin of guadalupe it sorta ties in that Mexican culture aspect of this beer. Who’d of thought Midna would complement this iteration even more!

2017 Rue D’Floyd Collaboration by Three/3 Floyds and The Bruery

2017 Rue D’Floyd Collaboration by Three/3 Floyds and The Bruery is a 14.4% ABV Imperial Porter aged in Bourbon Barrels with Cherries and Vanilla Beans Added.

I finally got my hands on the Three Floyds edition of one of my all time rare favorites, the Rue D’Floyd. A collaboration from the unthinkable coming together to create something out of this world. The original from the Bruery is the one I got a chance to try in 2014 and finally again in 2017. It was a beer that many loved but people thought it would have a problem aging. Even so, The beer proved to last the times. I cannot say the same about the Floyd D’rue since that one was not rereleased since 2014. Nevertheless, I never got a chance to try Three Floyds version of the same beer. In this iteration, it looks like they dropped the coffee and that is why Dark Matter is not involved. Will this still stand the test like the one I had from the Bruery? Well, let’s find out and take a crazy journey into the unknown.

Aromas:
Lots of dark fruits, port wine, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, roasted barley, hazelnut nectar, vanilla, bourbon, oak, banana sudae, Chambord Raspberries, sweetened condensed milk, roasted barley notes, coffee notes, burnt sugar, oatmeal cookies, almond, fruit cake, chocolate turtles, funky grape notes, tobacco and leather.

Flavors:
Super rich tart cherries, dark cherries, tart wine must, dark fruit currants, raisins, blue berries, raspberries, pomegranate, bourbon, marshmallows, nutella, hazelnut nectar, rocky road ice cream, toasted coconut, burnt sugar, molasses, marzipan, mazapan, walnuts, prailines, cherry cordials, pecan pie, port wine, wine grapes, Chambord Raspberries, sweetened condensed milk, roasted barley notes, coffee notes, tiramasu, Khalua coffee liqueur hints, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, fudge chocolate, cherry chocolate cake, mocha, banana cream pie, Banana sundae, cinnamon, crème brulee, white chocolate, oatmeal, tobacco, leather, rye bread, chocolate turtles, chocolate mousse and cherry cheese cake.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with Dark cherries, oak, bourbon, dark chocolate, cherry cordials, raspberries, tart wine grapes, Nutella, vanilla, caramel, mocha, pecan pie and banana split cherry sundae. No alcohol here or anywhere despite the ABV. Pitch black and abysmal body. Very smooth, mildly chewey, velvety, creamy and syrupy mouthfeel. Sipping drinkability and definitely meant to be enjoyed.

Overall:
This beer reminds me of the Perennial and Fremont Barrel aged Unicorn tears but if you made it slightly more tart. I cannot say if the tart was due to its aging or if this really was what they were going for. So why did I give it a 7? Cuz fuck it that’s why! No but seriously, this semi sweet semi tart complexity gives this beer some crazy appealingness to it. For those that enjoy the various spectrum of beers should definitely have this one too. Especially the Bruery one!

Anime Corner:
Ramona Flowers from Scott Pilgrim VS. The World and welcoming back, Haruko Haruhara from Fooly Cooly/FLCL were brought in this pairing because they are 2 sides of the same coin. So Ramona’s aesthetics similarly complements Haruko’s and since I used Haruko for the Bruery version, Ramona is the Three Floyds version. East Meets West essentially, Manga Vs. Comics, Ying and Yang so to speak. 2 versions of the same beer created by both brewers. In this iteration though, the aspect of Ramona having so many girlfriends and having some personal issues reflect that of Haruko’s very animated and out there personality. Just like this beer is the tart, the other is more sweet, both insane in the head and who wouldn’t want to hook up with these babes. However, they are dangerous as fuck!

20th Anniversary Ale by Ommegang

Rating: 7/7

20th Anniversary Ale by Ommegang is an 11.5% ABV Belgian Dark Strong Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels.

Label:

==Introduction==

This one totally came from left field. I wasn’t until I found it at QualityLiquorStore.com that I stumbled upon this one. The last time I tried and reviewed an Anniversary ale from Ommegang was the XV edition. Ommegang is one of my favorite breweries. Back when I first started beer reviews in 2010, The Three Philosophers which was introduced by my friend Chino was a beer I loved so much, that I wanted to try more of Ommegang’s beer. Fast Forward to this day and they have become one of my favorite Belgian inspired breweries out there. Their brews are just like Belgian ales its crazy. Granted, they are owned by Duvel, but just the better. The beers from them have been some of my all time favorites and to this day, of the common 3 best beers in the world, Three Philosophers is one of my favorites! So let’s take a look at their bourbon barrel aged Dark ale. This is such a great opportunity as I don’t think I have ever had a bourbon barrel aged beer from them. Let’s see, cheers!!

Aromas:
Rich bananas, clove spice, phenolics, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, Belgian chocolate, dark fruits, fruit cake, dark candi sugar, piloncillo sugar cone, marshmallow smores, ginger bread, flan, waffle cone, hone, bourbon, oak, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, apples, peppercorn, dark candi sugars and raisin bread pudding

Flavors:
Super rich dark fruit, raisins, plums, figs, cherries, blueberries, currants, burnt sugar, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, Dark candi sugar, piloncillo sugar cone, marshmallow smores, ginger bread,
cola, molasses, anise, mint, rock candy, tiramasu coffee, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, milk chocolate, bananas, clove spice, phenolics, stone fruit peach, apricot, mango, port wine, raisins bread pudding, grapes, cane sugar, flan, sweetened condensed milk, butterscotch, rye bread honey, coriander hints, bourbon, oak, almond joy chocolate, toasted coconut, rocky road ice cream, peppercorn spice hints, candied apples, maple syrup hints, waffle cone, raspberry and dark cherry chocolate cake.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with rich dark fruits, dulce de leche caramel, bourbon, oak, stone fruit, vanilla, bananas, anise, rocky road ice cream, chocolate and port wine hints. No alcohol in the taste despite the high ABV. Dark Amber brown full body, smooth, creamy, velvety and chewy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Alot of the rating for this beer comes from the love I have for this brewery. The makers of some of the best Belgian inspired brews that even one of their commons, the Three Philosophers, is among one of my top common 3 beers in the world. This one almost feels like a throw back to Art of Darkness, a Belgian Dark Strong ale that I had so long ago and one that I still have aging hoping to one day open once again. Essentially, if they took that beer and aged it in Bourbon, it would be this. Heck if Unibroue took Trois Pistoles and aged it in bourbon, it be close to this too. It is definitely an exceptional brew that is very rich in dark phenolics I love in Belgians along with what I love from the bourbon barrel aged brews. If you love Belgians and BBA brews, you can’t go wrong with this amazing masterpiece!

Anime Corner:
Freya Crescent from Final Fantasy IX/9 was used in this pairing as I was mainly going for a somewhat medieval feel like many of the brews from Ommegang give the feel of. Since this was a special occasion, I wanted to use her just like I did one of my favorite dragon beers, the Italian Monteggioco Draco. There isn’t much in terms of colors to tribute but an awesome character to an awesome beer!

2017 Stronger Than Fiction by Bottle Logic

Rating: 7/7

2017 Stronger Than Fiction by Bottle Logic is a 13% ABV American Strong Ale double barrel aged in Rum and Bourbon Barrels with Coconut & Coffee

Label:

==Introduction==

Luck seems to have a way of finding me when it comes to these super hard to find beers. I would of never really had this beer if it wasn’t for the one slight chance I stumbled upon one of the local stores and had it hidden away. Well, you know how I do with these things. If I can find something crazy, I will bring it to the forefront of the website and tell you what it is all about. Granted, the last 2 times I brought Bottle Logic to the site, while still skeptical, I was proven wrong in the uniqueness these beers brings. It is my only hope that this is a true and delicious as the claims show it to be.

Aromas:
Rich mocha, marshmallow, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, hazelnut nectar, piña colada, fruit cake, complex chocolate, rocky road ice cream, almond joy, Kahlua Liqueur, raspberry chambord, Raspberry Gansito, Danish pasrty, cookie dough ice cream, Irish coffee, super complex chocolates, mixed nutes, trail mix, banana notes, maple syrup, mocha and tropical fruit.

Flavors:
Rich Almond Joy, Rocky road ice cream, marshmallow smores, French Vanilla, Dulce de leche caramel, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, yohoo, Belgian chocolate, German chocolate, Mexican chocolate, Raspberry Gansito, Raspberry chambord, honey, butterscotch, dark fruits raisins, black berries, figs, figgy pudding, plums, mocha, fancy coffee, tiramasu, frappuccino, piña colada, rum, bourbon, oak, fruit cake, Kahlua coffee liqueur, jamoca ice cream, hazelnut nectar, nutella, pecan pie, walnut cake, sweetened condensed milk, Irish coffee, Danish cream, toffee, 3 leche cake, dragon fruit, passion fruit hints, mango hidden, cookie dough ice cream, double espresso, steamed milk, maple syrup, rye bread, bananas, molasses, piloncillo sugar cone, burnt sugar hints and rock candy.

Aftertaste:
Finishes damn smooth vanilla, oak, toffee, marshmallows, piña colada, sweetened condensed milk, 3 leche cake, tiramasu, chocolate turtles, bourbon, rum, mocha and dulce de leche caramel. Alcohol? GTFO!! Non existent even for as strong as it is. Clear crimson body, Smooth, creamy, velvety and tantalizing mouthfeel along with a drinkability only similar to that of cold brew coffee.

Overall:
Damn it!!! Why do these bottles from Bottle Logic have to be bucket listers?! There’s a part of me that doesn’t want to buy into the hype but something immediately snapped back when I had this one. Granted, the double barrel aging I’m sure had something to do with it along with the perfect complementary combination of coconut for the Rum and Coffee for the bourbon that carried this one into the oblivion. Not only was the alcohol not there, it made me wonder if this was beer I was drinking or some fancy Khalua and Piña Colada Rum bliss wit bourbon. Crazy stuff they are making and well as I hate to admit, I really hope I can bring more of these bad boys to the site in the future. As for you, the reader, you know this one is blessed, so don’t skip this, embrace it!

Anime Corner:
YoRHa No.2 Type B/ 2B/ 2E “Executioner” from Nier: Automata was chosen in this pairing as I wanted to pair not only with the colors of the beer but also the name of the beer. Stronger than fiction essentially is irony since you have a character that is not only not a human being in the series but an android who is essentially a super strong bad ass!

One Way Or Another Collaboration by the Bruery Terreux and Cascade Brewing Company

Rating: 5/5

One Way Or Another Collaboration by the Bruery Terreux and Cascade Brewing Company is a 9.3% ABV Belgian Sour Tripel brewed with Oregon Marionberries and California Meyer Lemon Zest and aged in oak barrels

Description:
Iconic bottles, distinctive flavors and outright admiration for each other. One way or another, we were going to brew a beer with our friends at Cascade Brewing. Together, we developed a new sour tripel recipe that we would brew at our separate facilities with each other – one here in Orange County, CA and the other in Portland, Oregon. The collaborative concept called for treating our creations with the same regional ingredients: Meyer lemons from California and marionberries from Oregon. Both brews would be destined to mature for over a year in oak under our respective roofs. At Bruery Terreux, we utilized a mix of New American Oak puncheons, fresh bourbon barrels, port barrels and oak wine barrels to create the ideal blend of flavors, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the complex, tangy tripel that emerged. Try it side by side with Cascade’s release to see how a single recipe can be interpreted One Way or Another.

Review: Rich and tart but lots of berries. Like a tart Agua fresca…. Awesome stuff

Bouffon collaboration by Bruery Terreux and Jester King

Rating: 4.5/5

Bouffon collaboration by Bruery Terreux and Jester King is a 5.3% ABV American Wild Wit Ale brewed with spices and aged in oak foedre.

Description:
This tart, witty release kicks off our Foeders with Friends collaboration series. Our good friends at Jester King came to town to brew a sour wit ale with spices to christen one of our new-to-us foeders at Bruery Terreux. We designed a recipe with bitter orange peel and coriander and set it to ferment and age with our mixed house culture and Bavarian wit yeast in the designated foeder for four months. Using the Jester King house culture for bottle conditioning, Bouffon features some of the classic notes you’d look for in a wit, including banana, pear, vanilla, bubblegum, white pepper, lemon and a signature yeast profile. It also shines with the wild character from its cultures and collaborators at Jester King and Bruery Terreux.

Review:
Funky, fresh, smooth, fresh and tart…. Very nice indeed!

So Happens It’s Tuesday With Coffee by The Bruery

Rating: 6/6

So Happens It’s Tuesday With Coffee by The Bruery is a 14.6% Imperial Stout brewed with Ryan Bros. Coffee and aged in Bourbon Barrels

Description:
So Happens It’s Tuesday is a dark and delicious bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout, with subtle roast and pronounced notes of oak, vanilla and chocolate. It harkens back to a simpler time, where stouts are cordial and more approachable than other days of the week. The addition of freshly roasted coffee beans from Ryan Bros. Coffee lends credence to the simple existential observation that this beer can be enjoyed in all of life’s moments and seasons.

Review:
Like Mocha Wednesday light… Still amazing!!!

2017 Serpent’s by The Lost Abbey

Rating: 7/7

2017 Serpent’s by The Lost Abbey is a 13.7% ABV Belgian Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels

Label:
Serpent’s Stout aged in Bourbon barrels

==Introduction==

Finally, the in between beer between the original Serpent’s Stout and Track 10 as well as the half portion of Deliverance finally in its own installment. Something I have not tried on its own in the past and was definitely one I needed in the books all the way spanning since 2010 when I first had Serpent’s stout. The Lost Abbey recently sold this one into the world online and those that got a chance to get it are most likely the only ones that have it. So if you have a chance for a trade you may want to look at this one depending on how this review goes. I have had the Track 10 which adds vanilla and cacao beans adding that extra level of awesomeness but this one being at that perfect in between spot might be onto something very different and we will only get a chance to see. The original evil evil beer now has escalated into another depth of hell so come with me as we journey into some crazy shit here, cheers!

Aromas:
Bubulubu chocolate, capirotada raisins bread pudding, Rich bananas, Flan, tres leches cake, vanilla, crème brulee, grilled plantains, platano burro, brown sugar, dark cherries, prunes, plums, currants, raisins, blackberries, vinous Caramel, dulce de leche caramel, rye whiskey, bourbon, marshmallows, oak, vanilla, Danish cream, Khalua coffee, mocha, leather, tobacco, pecan pie, Gansito Chocolate berry pastry, honey, graham crackers, waffle cone, stone fruit peaches, chocolate mangos, mature mangos and hazelnut nectar.

Flavors:
Rich oak, marshmallow smores, bourbon, rye whiskey, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, vinous caramel, toffee, mocha, roasted barley, fancy coffee, espresso, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, bakers chocolate, German chocolate, banana sundae, grilled plantains, platano burro, leather, tobacco, toasted coconut, pairotada raisin bread pudding, dark fruit prunes, dark cherries, raisins, currants, plums, Belgian dark candi sugar, , brown sugar, fruit cake, oreo cookies, port wine, Danish cream, Irish cream, chocolate mousse, Khalua coffee, liquer, raspberries, rocky road ice cream, hazelnut nectar, pecan pie, prailines, rye bread, phenolic notes, almond joy chocolate, mint, anise, licorice notes, burnt candi sugar, Mexican pan dulce, flan, crème brulee, stone fruit mango, tres leches cake, honey, graham crackers, honey, waffle cone and Gansito cake.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with lots of complex chocolates, Gansito, mousse, Belgian, Dark, German, Milk, Mexican, Baker’s, cherries, raspberries, caramels, banana sundae, dark fruit, vanilla, oak, and dark candi sugar. No alcohol in the taste despite the 13.7%ABV, insane!! Pitch black dark abyss full body. Creamy, Smooth, velvety and chewy mouthfeel with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Of the many many bourbon barrel aged brews I have had before, especially from commons to whalez, this one is a huge slice in the toe to toe versus cake of competition and a bucket lister to me. So damn complex while still employing the great Belgian notes that I loved of the style but amped by a thousand. It’s crazy how these beers are the equivalent of next level evolution of the originals making them into something damn amazing. Surely, if you can get this one, get it!!!

Anime Corner:
Ichigo Kurosaki and Fade to Black Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach as well as many iterations of Rukia, Bankai, Devil, Hollow, Mugetsu and others were all used in the emphasis of showing evolution from the original beer that I love so much over to this new iteration that is super duper insane. The Adam and Eve theme of the beer is taken to an alternate dimension roles are reversed and Satan was the one that created the the world and it was God trying to tempt Adam and Eve into what is good. It’s a crazy beer.

Stone Berlin Groundbreaking Collaborations 07 Züper Magik w00tstout collaboration by Drew Curtis, Greg Koch and Wil Wheaton

Rating: 7/7

Stone Berlin Groundbreaking Collaborations 07 Züper Magik w00tstout collaboration by Drew Curtis, Greg Koch and Wil Wheaton is a 10.1% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with Hazelnuts, Pecans & Almonds and partially aged in Whiskey Barrels

Label:
Series 7 of 14

==Introduction==
In 2014, Stone was raising money to open a brewery in Berlin, Germany. It would be the first time an American craft brewery would open up a business in Europe. For Germany who has Bavarian laws on the beer making process, craft beer would no coincide with their laws. However, Stone being some crazy arrogant bastards were able to make their way into the market and were successful to open up shop. At the time, I had donated money on promised collaborations with different breweries. Mainly some of the ones I like such as Brew Dog, Lost Abbey, The Bruery, Surly and even Devil’s Gate/Will Wheaton. So, with the donations I made in that year, I was wondering if I would ever see a return on my investment. Long behold, Stone contacted me to inform that they were going to release the beers and so today I bring Züper Magik w00tstout.

The magic that is the same magic, bloodstream of the universe that flows and keeps existence afloat has granted me a chance to bring this beer here to the site. Ever since Stone wanted to make special batch of w00tstout, I was all in. W00stout, like many of my favorite stouts, has inspired me to make a blend using their original recipe with a Dark Lord and original twist giving way to Sangrileche 2 which was a special homebrewed batch of oak aged amazing beer. One that to this day seems to develop more and more. Heck, even the original Belgian Stout Sangri leche 2 still sits aging into newer heights. This special super magical space aliens and leprechauns riding unicorns of a beer was definitely something I didn’t expect to be released this year. The addition of all sorts of nuts to the original recipe definitely swings towards the infinity part of special collaborations that I don’t even think they have literature, comics or even elder scrolls on. Doesn’t matter though, we’re about to dive in and experience the magic first hand. Visit a local Stone Liberty Station or the main local brewery for a chance at this one, cheers!

Aromas:
Ddark chocolate, milk chocolate, German chocolate, Belgian chocolate, oak, hazelnut necar, pecan pie, marzipan, almond joy coconut, rocky road ice cream notes, nutella, dark fruit cherries, raisins, currants, blue berries, raspberries, fruit cake, Khalua liquer, toffee, butterscotch, coconut, tiramasu, cherry corials, licorice, oreo cookies, flan, dark candi sugar, rock candy, blueberry muffins and ginger bread.

Flavors:
Super nutty chocolate bliss, nutter butter, Cocoa Krispies cereal, chocolate nutella, marzipan, mazapan, peanut butter, pecan pie, almond joy, cookie dough, chocolate chip cookies, hazelnut nectar, maple syrup, tiramasu, fancy coffee, banana split, dark fruit cherries, raisins, currants, blue berries, raspberries, raspberry Chambord, blue berry muffin, cherry cordials, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, German chocolate, Belgian chocolate, chocolate mousse, bourbon and whiskey notes, chocolate smores, sangria notes, licorice, molasses, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, flan, crème brulee, three milks/3 leches cake, stone fruit peach, old mango hints, earthy notes, Khalua liquer, toffee, butterscotch, coconut, rocky road ice cream, cinnamon notes, dates, Pancho Pantera chocomil, rye bread, oatmeal raisin cookies, oreo cookies and cream, smokey oak notes and dark candy sugars.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with rich notes of dark fruit, banana, super mixed nuts, almond butter, pecan pie, hazelnut nectar, cashew milk, dark chocolate, oak hints, whiskey notes, earthy notes, roasted barley notes, wine notes and much more! No alcohol in the taste despite the 10% ABV, pitch black darkness supreme body, smooth, silky, creamy, velvity, chewy and syrupy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Heilige Scheiße!!! This is crazy crazy crazy. It has the original in spirit for sure but the mixing of all sorts of nuts into the beer makes for one extremely nutty brew that is on that level of nutella and more. Maybe it is just the wait I had to go through but this beer sure seems to be casting spells not just on the current verse of existence but even the theoretical verse of the quantum, essentially, the veil above reality. Crazy nuts makes anyone nuts. But I’m sure it would be welcomed by the masses who love the original w00tstout.

Anime Corner:
Mari Illustrious, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Sohryu Langley/Shikinami from Neon Genesis Evangelion were used for this iteration of W00tstout just like I have used them before in the past. This time around though, I wanted to show some extravagant to complement not only some of the German side like when they dressed up in the green synonymous with Oktoberfest but also some superstitious art like with them on what appears to be a tarot cart. I have used them in man iterations of W00tstout but this time, some of these are a bit different and out there. Kind of what I wanted in terms of showing what is so Zuper and Magikal!

2017 Dead ‘N’ Dead by Rogue brewing

Rating: 5.5/6

2017 Dead ‘N’ Dead by Rogue brewing is an 8.2% ABV Rogue Dead Guy Helles Bock aged in Dead Guy Whiskey Barrels.

Label:

Dead ‘N’ Dead complements the flavor profile of our classic Dead Guy Ale with oak and vanilla notes from our Whiskey barrel.

==Introduction==

Formerly from the John John series, I had not tried this beer in years. I almost forgotten what this was about. Back then the beer was definitely lighter at 6.4% ABV. Now with a new name it fits very well. The combination of Dead Guy ale aged in a Whiskey created by distilling the dead guy ale, now thats what you call evolution! Granted I can’t remember how the original version of this beer was but I am definitely happy to bring it back to the site and give it a go. Let’s have a look, cheers!

Original Review: https://animebeers.com/2012/12/27/john-john-series-whiskey-barrel-aged-dead-guy-ale-by-rogue-brewing/

Aromas:

Oak, whiskey, caramel, rye bread, piloncillo sugar cone, sweet potato, honey, bourbon, toasted coconut hints, biscuit bread, banana hints, dark fruit, hazelnut nectar, pecan pie notes, citrus, piney and earthy hops.

Flavors:

Lots of toffee, vanilla, marshmallow, oak, dulce de leche caramel, pecan pie, crème brulee, whiskey, bourbon, biscuit bread, old mango, rye bread, alfajor (Mexican Coconut sugar candy, oranges, funky tart notes, grape hints, banana, clove spice, earthy hop notes, honey, burnt sugar, Belgian candy sugar notes, dark fruit raisins, figs, hazelnut nectar notes, fruit cake, piloncillo sugar cone, sweet potato, cinnamon, flan, tangerine hints, stone fruit peach and apricot notes.

Aftertaste:

Finishing rich in caramel, toffee, dark fruit, fruit cake, toasted coconut notes, earthy hop notes, oak, whiskey notes and burnt sugar dryness. No alcohol in the taste, amber clear body, smooth, creamy and dry mouth feel along with a moderate drinkability.

Overall:

While personally, I think it is above exceptional due to the whiskey barrel aging, it is not supreme. Hell I love dead guy and this process takes it to the next level at that. There is so much criticism over these beers in the community but I for one look for what I like and this one is definitely a huge winner. Granted I have have had better barrel aged beer, it isn’t often you see a barrel aged hellsbock. The only thing that might come close to its amazingness is the Samichlaus, but that’s definitely on another review on site. I would definitely recommend it highly but only if you like Rogue for sure.

Anime Corner:

Lei-Lei/Hsien-Ko from the Darkstalkers/Vampire Savior series and the Pacman Ghost were used in this pairing since I wanted to compare the Dead and Dead aspect of the series to 2 ghosts, that being the pacman ghost and Lei Lei. The funny thing about this beer, is that it is fermented with PacMan Yeast! Funny how the pairing works super well in this context and for Lei Lei as well.

2017 Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout by Dogfish Head

Rating: 6/6

2017 Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout by Dogfish Head is a 16% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with Vanilla beans and aged in oak.

Label:

Stout aged in oak on vanilla beans

Commercial Description:

Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, we’ve now taken this Dogfish Head classic and aged it on oak with real vanilla beans! With a little tender love and care we foster this beer from smooth, sweet wort into the big, bad blackend stout it always longed to be. Its bold, port-like complexity goes great with (or as) dessert.

==Introduction==
Back in 2012, along with 120 minute IPA and Fort were some of the most strongest beers I have ever had. At the time, super strong beers were hard to come by and these 3 beers were insane to find. So much so, that I had not brought them back for a review until this year. The original World Wide Stout is still a miss for me and I have not found it again in bottle form. So when I saw the made a vanilla oak aged one, I definitely had to bring it to the site. While I have enjoyed many vanilla stouts and even spirit aged vanilla beers, I have not had a chance to try an original like this that was aged on vanilla and oak. Especially for that 16% ABV which at the time, the original, was 18%!Let’s have a go at this monster and see if you should seed out this special treasure, cheers!

Aromas:

Rich marshmallow, chocolate smores, fruit cake, oak, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, dark fruits, rum hints, toasted coconut, pecan pie, molasses, mint, Irish cream, Danish cream, flan, bananas foster, hazelnut nectar, and banana sundae.

Flavors:

Super rich vanilla, oak, smokey hints, roasted barley, dulce de leche caramel, flan, sweetened condensed milk, pecan ice cream, tiramasu, mocha, specialy coffee, hazelnut nectar, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, German chocolate, Bakers chocolate, banana sundae, cookie dough ice cream, Irish cream, Danish cream, chocolate mousee, pecan pie, dark frui raisins, figs, plums, dark cherries, raspberry Chambord, blueberry notes, marshmallow smores, rocky road ice cream, bourbon hints, rum notes, toasted coconut, molasses, cinnamon, burnt sugar, Jericalla Jaliscan custard, Bananas foster, grilled plantains in powdered sugar over with raspberry syrup and crème brulee.
Aftertaste:

Finishing up with complex chocolate, banana sundae, vanilla, fruit cake, custards, mocha, dark fruit, caramels, crème brulee, flan, marshmallow, coconut, oak, burnt sugar and rum notes. Despite the 16% ABV, it is hard to find the alcohol. I am not even sure why, I should sense some type of slight booziness but all I taste is complex flavors. Pitch dark black full body, creamy, velvety, smooth and rich chewy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:

Fucking exceptional! It was only in March 2017 that I had tried the original on tap by a lucky find and now this?!?! Well this blows everything into high gear! Lots of rich oak, vanilla and so much complexity that even at the high level of ABV content, it sure is damn hard to see where the alcohol went to. Anyways, if you love specialty stouts, I highly recommend this one, if you can find it!

Anime Corner:

Cryska Bachernowa from the Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse series was used in the original World Wide Stout when I first tried it years ago. So since I could not find another WWS to bring to the site, I settled with bringing her again to this beer and showcasing some colors what would fit with the original (and apparently, the new label as well) with the yellow. This is not a Russian stout but the extra roastiness and body of the beer makes it so and so aside from the colors, she is also Russian to boot! So there is much to complement with this type of pairing for sure!

2017 Iridium Flare collaboration by Bottle Logic and Superstition Meadery

Rating: 7/7

2017 Iridium Flare collaboration by Bottle Logic and Superstition Meadery is a 13.3% ABV American Strong Ale brewed with Honey and Marionberries aged in Bourbon Barrels.

Label:

Enter level II clearance – Arizona’s Superstition Meadery runs the gauntlet on high scores in the mead area. Our mead-inspired combo breaker is a concentrated punch of sweetness drawn out across a thick, viscous body. Arizona wildflower honey succumbs to the tart brightness of marionberries with bruleed sugar barrel finish. End transmission.

==Introduction==

Holy shit what a find. They say rare treasures are only there for those that look into the deep! What a rare find indeed. Bottle Logic hyped beers are stupidly ridiculously hard to find. If there are any beers in the current age of 2017 that would ask the question, well, whats the latest trend in terms of rare beers, Bottle Logic is it! Or at least their super damn special releases which are ridiculous to get. Like there is no way I could of ever got this bottle and I live locally. Unless I actually made a huge overnight light at Bottle Logic to get a chance to land some of these, they are just not worth it. One of the biggest beers they have is Fundamental Observation along with Number Crunch, Dark Star November, Leche Borracho, Fundamental Forces and so so so many others that are quick to sell out. Hell, it was only this year that they barely even got to a damn retail store let alone not have to pay 100$s of dollars of beers just to get one of their beers. Yea I know, ridiculous right?!?! I however, did not have to do any of this. Granted it was the very damn last bottle I saw by pure fucking luck on my way out of Whittier Liquor Mart. In fact, there was no way, there was just no fucking way I was this lucky to land something like this especially at the store. It’s just not possible. Heck I’m here right now with this beer and I still don’t believe it. But it was true. That damn bottle peered like a ghost who taps you on that cold shoulder but there it was. The last fucking bottle of a beer called Iridium Flare, a beer named after the shooting star effect that happens on the night sky due to the glare that’s given off when sunlight hits a satellite moving at hundreds of MPH. Yes, it was not the most hyped like the others but it had something to back it up for sure, that bottle logic name and a special release written all over it and somehow ended up in my hands with none the wiser as to this being the last bottle. So yeah, when I find something I think might be considered a great lost treasure worth taste and experience, you best believe that this might be it. Let’s have a looks, cheers!!!

Aromas:

Dark fruits of cherries, boysenberies, currants, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, marrionberries, raspberries, pomegranates, cranberries, raisins, plums, figs, dragon fruit, mango, Danish cream, Irish cream, flan, crème brulee, sweetened condensed milk, 3 milks/tres leches cake, mixed berry cordials, fruit cake, banana sundae, mixed berry chocolate mousse, Chambord Raspberry liqueur, steamed milk, whipped cream, bourbon, almond joy and mild oak.

Flavors:

Liquid Berries and Cream! Rich Wild flower honey, orange blossom honey, crème brulee, mixed berry cheese cake, dulce de leche caramel, oak, vanilla, bourbon, maple, biscuit bread, rye bread, bananas, pecan pie, hazelnut nectar, dark fruits of cherries, boysenberies, currants, cherries, strawberries, blueberries, marrionberries, raspberries, pomegranates, dragon fruit, mango, cranberries, raisins, plums, figs, lychees, strawberry short cake, raspberry ice cream, marshmallow smores, toasted coconut, berry almond joys, Danish cream, Irish cream, flan, crème brulee, sweetened condensed milk, 3 milks/tres leches cake, mixed berry cordials, fruit cake, whipped cream, butterscotch, chocolate cherries, pomegranate chocolates, strawberries in cream, banana sundae, grilled plantains, whiskey notes and leathery hints.

Aftertaste:

Long and ever lasting berries and cream, herbal honey, wld flower honey, dark fruits, chocolate, flan, crème brulee, 3 leche cake, mixed berry cheese cake, raspberry Chambord, banana sunday,

No alcohol in the taste, Deep Magenta and Crimson light to medium body, creamy, smooth, syrupy

Overall:

Berries and cream, Berries and cream, I’m a little lad that loves berries and creeeeaaamm!! f y’all don’t remember that commercial from back in the late 90’s then where have you been? Berries and cream was like my mixed berry chocolate and white chocolate. No joke, legit, there is a damn crazy reason why the hell this one is hyped. I swear, I really swear I have tried so many awesome beers and do honestly believe there I better out there, but this? This right here is really ridiculous. I’m really mad because this is so damn awesome and for the longest time I was such as skeptic about some of these beers believing it is all hype. I don’t know what it is but this beer is only a sample of the many beers I have not tried and hope to try granted I could find them and not have to trade for them or get them online. I’m pretty torn because I want to say, you should really check this out if you can get it but I really don’t recommend you go out of your way if you can’t find it. Yes, it is a definitely a bucket lister in so many ways but the fact of the matter is, with the current hype it is just not worth it to get it unless you can find it locally or are really willing to trade for this. Luck is the devil of details, you decide!!

Anime Corner:
Reiko Mikami from the Ghost Sweeper Mikami series was used in this special occasion to pair with the rich colors of berries mixed into this. The reds, the purples, the oranges and even the greens. Whatever you would like to see. However, the other reason why I chose Mikami for this pairing is mainly that as a Ghost Sweeper/Buster she takes down malignant spirits. Being’s of the undead you can only see glimpses of as they blend into this reality like a bad reception of the television. Essentially, like the actual Iridium Flare that cuts through the night sky like butter and a shooting star, Reiko can see them. Let’s be honest, her damn special ghost saber is what cuts those ghosties like butter. In a way, her weaponry is like that of the Iridium Flare, the beer/sattellite that I only got a glimpse of by pure fucking luck and have no way of getting a chance at this again. Let’s see what the future holds, cheers!

Kuroi or Black (黑) by Mikkeller brewing

Rating: 6/6

Kuroi or Black () by Mikkeller brewing is a 16.8% ABV World Class Imperial Stout

Description:

Brewed at De Proefbrouwerij.

Ingredients: Water, malt, roasted barley, dark cassonade, ale yeast and champagne yeast.

==Introduction==
It’s literally been yeeaarrrsss since I have tried Mikkeller Black. At the time of trying different beers, even before Dog Fish Head Forte, 120 Minute IPA and even before the Bruery and Samichlaus, this was the first time I had tried a beer that reached ridiculous ABV levels. Originally purchased at my local shop, this beer is very common. It is in the long list of somewhat overlooked beers which the craft beers afficionados overlook sometimes. Well, I definitely like to take a dive to my roots from time to time and bringing this one back from a long time was definitely worth it. Black a the night, fast and smooth as ninjas, I still remember the crazy beer called Black! Let’s see how well this fairs, cheers!

Aromas:

Mocha, roasted coffee, earthy hops, dark fruits, smokey notes, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, vanilla, oak notes, wine grape hints, port wine, fruit cake, burnt sugar, molasses, anise, rye bread, pecan pie and pomegranate cordials.

Flavors:

Rich burnt candi sugar, roasted coffee grounds, mocha, smokey roast, roasted barley, rich dark fruit prunes, raisins, plums, cherry cordials, pomegranates, blackberries, currants, bananas, anise, molasses, clove spice, dark chocolate, earthy hops, port wine, chocolate wine, milk chocolate, burnt marshmallows, burnt cookie, Danish cream, Irish cream, dark chocolate truffles, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, rye bread, Chambord raspberry liqueur, wine hinting funk, Belgian chocolate, pecan pie, hazelnut, maple hints, fruit cake and three milks/3 leches cake.

Aftertaste:

Long lingering roast, smoke, dark fruit, earthy hop with lots of subtle chocolate, caramel, vanilla, cherry, banana and coffee complexities. Slight alcohol in the taste but not detracting from the already super complex flavors along with you guessed it, pitch black full body with a slight bloody crimson resonance under a certain light frequency which you only get a glimpse of. Smooth, creamy, velvety, syrupy mouthfeel and sipping drinkability.

Overall:

An exceptional stout! Full of everything I love about traditional boozy stouts and even Belgian stouts. Heck, this even reminds me of the Brew Dog Tactical Nuclear Penguin I had years ago as well. If you look deep enough, you can also find the Dark Lord Imperial stout in this one, No joke! Imagine that, a beer that is overlooked and yet is still supreme to this day, oh how we have forgotten. Sure won’t forget this one again. Go find this beer! Cheers!
Anime Corner:

Seras Victoria from Hellsing was brought back for this review as she was used to represent the absolute darkness. Her partner? Oh, it’s just Alucard, the alias of Count Dracula/Vlad The Impaler. God, the olden days must have been brutal. This beer may have put people in the right set of mind. Black as the Plague? Well, not sur eif this was the cure but it would of eased the pain.

Homebrew Project #33 6 To Midnight Coffee & Cream by Nubis Sanctum Ales

Rating: 5/5

Homebrew Project #33 6 To Midnight Coffee & Cream by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 10% ABV Imperial Cream Ale brewed with Blood Lord Coffee Beans by Dark Matter Coffee, Vanilla Beans and Lactose.

Homebrewed for my friends Cesar Molina & Jeanette De La Luz wedding on 9/3/2017.

The special project was brewed in collaboration with my friend Oscar Pacheco and Cesar Molina with an inspiration to the Coffee and Cream Ale we had tried on our many trips to the Tijuana B.C. Craft Beer Scene in Mexico. For the special occasion of his wedding, Julio/Cesar entrusted me to come up with an original recipe that would be a cream ale with coffee similar the Coffee and Cream. The recipe was something I had not brewed before and would become one that was created by us. Starting with an Imperial Cream Ale recipe, I started by envisioning what would be the cream side or additional cream. That’s when I brought up the lactose addition. Vanilla would add an enticing sweetness which was provided by Oscar in which we aged in Maker’s Mark 46 Bourbon for a month before added to the finished product. We also went through a collection of many of my favorite Dark Matter Coffee beans like the Big Hugs and Unicorn Blood Coffees until Julio decided to use the Blood Lord coffee. It was the same coffee they made by aging the beans in Barrels that once contained 3 Floyds Dark Lord Imperial Stout. The very same bourbon barrel aged coffee I used in my previous iteration (Home brew Project #29 SangriLeche Chapter: 2 – Hey You, Wanna Buy Some ChocoW00tCherries?!!?) which used w00tstout as the inspiration.

Moving on, the beer was a major success showcasing many of the rich flavors from the original Coffee and Cream Ale, but at a higher ABV and more flavor intense profile ranging from Coffee, Vanilla, sugar cream, oak notes, stone fruit, dark fruits, creme brulee, flan, tiramsu and much much more. The beer was such as hit that it was the first to run out at the wedding despite being the higher in alcohol content. It was definitely a victorious moment in homebrewing collaboration for me and my friends and something that I’m sure Julio and Janette will never forget. Surely though, I will have to brew it again!

Home Brew Project #34 BerryMe Cider by Nubis Sanctum Ales

Rating: 5/5

Home Brew Project #34 BerryMe Cider by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 6% ABV Hard Apple Cider with Raspberries and Hibiscus.

Homebrewed for my friends Cesar Molina & Jeanette De La Luz wedding on 9/3/2017.

The special project was brewed in collaboration with my friend Oscar Pacheco and Cesar Molina for drinkers that wanted something not beer related and more closer to sparkling wine. The recipe was similar to my original project (Home brew #20 Las Manza Cronicas De BatFramb by Nubis Sanctum Ales) in which the base was an apple cider with raspberries. The difference in this one was that I needed to get some sort of red or pinkish color to the beer and through research and discussions with my friends, we decided hibiscus would do the trick adding a very nice reddish pinkish color similar to that of the raspberries to make it more appealing to those that love sweet drinks. In fact, it was very good and although it was a bit higher than the Summer Ale, people digged this one even more. For me I could definitely tell it was sweet but the hibiscus gave it some very nice tart flavors playing and mimicking that of the raspberries. In short, it was a recipe well done and one I will definitely try and make again.

Homebrew Project #35 Summer Love American Mosaic Blonde by Nubis Sanctum Ales

Rating: 4/5

Homebrew Project #35 Summer Love American Mosaic Blonde by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 4.5% ABV American Blonde brewed with Mosaic.

Homebrewed for my friends Cesar Molina & Jeanette De La Luz wedding on 9/3/2017.a

The special project was brewed in collaboration with my friend Oscar Pacheco and Cesar Molina which was made for the light drinkers. A refreshing beer that used my original recipe (Home Brew Project #31 Mega Rolling Light Sessions) but made as a 6 gallon batch instead of 5. In response, the beer came out lighter than the original recipe. Due to additional volume, the beer actually came out less hoppy which is very good for those that did not like hoppy beers. To my surprise to, it seemed to be similar to a nice refreshing summer lager. Despite the fear of running out of beer that day though, it seems the crowd definitely loved the other choices but this one was definitely one that was not to pass up. In short, it gave me an idea on how to tone down the alcohol and even the bitterness to please those that don’t drink very heavy beers.

Neapolitian Dynamite collaboration by Stone Brewing, Abnormal Beer Co, Paul Bisckeri and Patrick Martinez

Rating: 6/6

Neapolitian Dynamite collaboration by Stone Brewing, Abnormal Beer Co, Paul Bisckeri and Patrick Martinez is an 8.5% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberries and Coffee.

Label:

==Introduction==

Quite possibly, the next Xocoveza, or so I have heard, this beer was totally unespected. The last time I had a Neapolitan beer, aside from the Lost Abbey collab Stone did which was really close to Neapolitan ice cream, is the Neapolitan Bourbon Barrel Milk Stout from Saugatuck brewing. Granted that beer was so damn amazing, I wouldn’t think I would see another Neapolitan beer for a while. Man was I wrong. So much so that when I saw they were having it release soon, I had to take a 2 hour mission on the bus to Pasadena to get this beer and bring it to the site ASAP! Yes, it is the 1st of September 2017 and I’ll be one of the first reviewers of the beer before it hits the public. So aside from the enticing label and the fact that this is supposed to mimic Neapolitan Ice cream, let’s have a deeper look, cheers!

Aromas:

Dark Chocolate, milk chocolate, German chocolate, Bakers chocolate, chocolate Abuelita Mexican chcoolate, vanilla, chocolate doughnut glaze, strawberries and cream, roasted coffee, Irish cream coffee, strawberry and chocolate milk shake, fruit cake, dark fruits, roasted barley and spicy earthy notes.

Flavors:

Neapolitan Ice cream galore! Dark semi sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, Baker’s chocolate, German chocolate, Belgian chocolate, dulce de leche caramel, dark fruit raspberries, currants, raisins, cherries, strawberries, chocolate dipped strawberries, triple chocolate cake, chocolate, fancy coffee, roasted coffee notes, roasted barley, Danish cream, Irish cream, steamed milk, honey, maple syrup, toasted coconut hints, malted strawberry chocolate milk shake, chocolate glazed strawberry cream filled doughnuts, spiced coffee, clove spice, bananas, anise, dark fruits, hazelnut nectar, flan, three milks/3 leches cake, cookie dough ice cream and cotton candy.

Aftertaste:

Finishes with Doughnut notes, strawberry chocolate cordials, vanilla cream, Mexican chocolate, earthy hop hints, banana notes, fancy coffee, cotton candy, fruit cake and dark fruits. No alcohol in the taste. Pitch black dark body, smooth, creamy, velvety and chewy mouthfeel and sipping drinkability.

Overall:

Damn decadent and exceptional. It is not a sugary caramel bomb but damn, that balance of dark chocolate with the roasty coffee flavors is closely tying even some Doughnut flavors into the already blissful Neapolitan Ice cream flavors this thing gives. Holy jeebuzz, this is too damn amazing. So much so that one could possibly drink the whole bottle in one sitting. Oops! But that’s what happens with liquid ice cream/pastry beers like these. Make sure you get several, I highly recommend this one!

Anime Corner:

Neopolitan from RWBY makes a return to the Stone side mainly since she is the only character that is literally, the embodiment of Neapolitan Ice Cream, hence, her nick name of Ice Cream Girl. There really isn’t much to explain why she fits this beer so well. About the Dynamite thought, this girl has huge sass for being the silent type, she really can make things go BANG!!!

Fruitallica collaboration by Beavertown, Garage Project and Stone brewing

Rating: 5/5

Fruitallica collaboration by Beavertown, Garage Project and Stone brewing is an 8% ABV Double India Pale ale brewed with Yuzu, Kiwi and Habanero.

Label:
==Introduction==
Obtained this one at Stone brewing store. The recent release of their latest collaboration which has the name inspiration from Metallica. This beer intrigued me mainly due to the ingredients use. A tropical IPA with special fruits is always awesome. I have homebrewed an IPA with Kiwi before and the flavors do tend to stick out a bit. Which is really awesome for what they are going for. The habanero addition definitely makes for something that I’m sure will definitely kick ass. The last habanero beer I had was the Sulpin Habanero and that thing was really hot. I usually eat spicy foods but that habanero was really present With the use of Yuzu and Kiwi I’m sure would make for something that would calm that heat. Let’s take a look, Cheers!

Floral, hoppy, grapefruit, herbal, grassy and earthy hops, rich tropical fruit medley, stone fruit, guave, berries, peppercorn, habanero spicy hints, citrus fruits and banana hints.

Flavors:
Rich tropical fruit goodness, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, dragon fruit, papaya, yuzu, jack fruit, banana hints, kiwis, oranges, lemon peel, blue berries, cherries, Strawberries, cranberries, tangerine gummies, herbal, grapefruit, dank, grassy, piney hops, mild earthy habanero spice, stone fruit peach hints, floral hibiscus, peppercorn hints and guava notes.
Aftertaste:
Finishing rich with tropical flavors, herbal, garlicky, dank, grapefruit, grassy and piney hops, stone fruit notes and mild earthy spiciness. No alcohol in the taste, hazy medium body, smooth, crisp, refreshing and effervescent. A moderate to sipping kind of beer.

Overall:
A nice perfect IPA. The tropical fruits do come forward and the habanero is more hinted than heat creating a mild spice that can appease those that were not looking for a hot and spicy burning beer. Granted you feel it a bit in the throat near the end but is immediately washed away. A very nice balance of hoppy, spiciness and sweet. Definitely worth seeking for!
Anime Corner:
Lacey Shadows from The Modifyers was used in this pairing mainly for the colors that complement the beer well. While she seems more punk than goth or metal, she seems close to it. She is also very so that covers the Habanero part of things. Regardless, the colors she has seem to go well with some of the flavors as well. Overall, I think she fit the part nicely.

(AnimeBeers On The Road) Stone & NOFX Punk In Drublic by collaboration by NOFX and Stone Brewing

Rating: 4.5/5

Stone & NOFX Punk In Drublic by collaboration by NOFX and Stone Brewing is a 5.8% ABV India Pale Lager brewed with Huell Melon hops.

Got a chance to try this directly at the Stone brewing Store in Pasadena. Hoppy, smooth, crisp, dank and mild tropics. Very nice and easy to drink. To go with the band aspect, I think Demencia from Villanous/Villanos was pretty fucking punk!

DKML by Founders brewing

Rating: 5.75/6

DKML by Founders brewing is a 14.2% ABV Imperial Malt Liquor Aged in Bourbon Barrels

Label:

Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one’s a pry-off, not a twist-off.

==Introduction==

The “40” or “40oz.” has a new meaning with this beer. A crazy strong beer that only the closest Colt 45 or Mickey’s can ever dream of being the strongest of the bunch. Something that I have never tried before and honestly, something that my site has rarely ever gotten past security. Sorry, I have only done Malt Liquor upon request here and the only one I have done so far is King Cobra thanks to my friend Hugo Gascon. Yet, a bourbon barrel aged malt liquor?! What is this all about?! Great question for sure but I would be hard pressed to not bring it to the site, especially since it is Founders we are talking about. The makes of the awesome KBS and with their reputation in barrel aging beers. So yeah, this was definitely a must. Now that we are here, let’s have a look, cheers!

Aromas:

Rich marshmallow, oak, toasted coconut, vanilla, caramel, cane sugar, marshmallow, fruit cake, white raisins, tropical mango hints, orange peel, citrus, herbal, grassy hop hints, tangerine gummies, raisin bread, toffee, honey and rich butterscotch.

Flavors:

Rich caramel, pilsnery grain, honey, oak, butterscotch, bourbon, cane sugar, stone fruit peach, apricot, melons, apple, banana notes, marshmallow, orange peel, tangerine gummies, citrus, herbal, piney and grassy hops, tropical fruit mango, passion fruit hints, rocky road ice cream, toasted coconut, brown sugar, biscuit bread, flan, dark cherries, white raisins, clove spice, coriander hints, fruit cake and piloncillo sugar cone.

Aftertaste:

Finishing rich with honey, caramel, butterscotch, bourbon, marshmallow, toffee, rye bread, pilsnery notes, citrus, sweetened condensed milk, tropical fruit, stone fruit and more. Slight boozy but not detracting from the amazing flavors. Clear Golden body, smooth, velvety, syrupy and crisp mouthfeel but a sipper none the less. Chugging this like an actual 40 will definitely give you a bad time!

Overall:

A most epic and exceptional malt liquor! In fact, the best malt liquor ever! If those old English and Mickeys or even Bud Ices have told me, there is a talk of legendary beer and this is supreme! Amazing amazing amazing! Founders is simply awesome and the always keep pushing that barrel aging program forward. For being the first and possibly only bourbon barrel aged malt liquor out there, you have to do yourself a favor and get this one!

Anime Corner:

Franco iL Nero from Outlaw Django was chosen in this pairing mainly for the pairing of the colors of the beer but mainly for a through back to the Wild Wild West Side like that Song from Ice Cube. Essentially, the 40 ounce represents the hard times of living in the Ghetto or at least how it was back in the 80’s and 90’s but also playing that Wild West to be a synonym of the real Wild West in the dessert in the time of cowboys. Yes, it was rough back then but this beer brings something traditional from the past into the more modern era with it’s barrel aging. It is sure to get you wassstedd, synonymous to the “wasted” logo that comes up when you die in GTA but also literally wasted as in drunk!

Box Set Track# 11 Devil Went Down To Georgia by The Lost Abbey

Rating: 6/6

Box Set Track# 11 Devil Went Down To Georgia by The Lost Abbey is a 12% ABV American Strong Ale brewed with Peaches and Black Tea aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels.

Label:

Commercial Description:

Formerly known as “Vern”. Reviews from 2011 are for the initial pilot batch (Vern) of what would become Track 11 the next year.

A experimental re-mix track, Track 11 is our Angel’s Share that we aged in fresh Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for 9 months. To this we added some awesome whole peach slivers, black tea, and a splash of Brettanomyces Clausenni to ferment the peaches. The beer has a great peach nose and a long carmelized bourbon finish. One of the most experimental of all the track series beers.

==Introduction==

Formerly known as “Angel’s Share – Bourbon Barrel Aged With Peaches & Black Tea”, this beer was released back in 2012 as part of the 13 tracks of rock and roll for the lost abbey. It was renamed as Track#11 “The Devil Went Down To Georgia” by Charlie Daniels Band. These 13 beers were hard to get since once needed to purchase a lottery ticket and then if they won, they would get the option to but the whole thing for about $300. Yes, that set of 13 beers is pricey and it was definitely something I did not bother to invest in. I don’t like hyped stuff when it comes to jumping through hoops or “Black Friday” style of overnight camping and standing in line. I have usually obtained beers either online or through trades. This set was pretty ridiculous to get but I figured one that one day they would release them one at time. I figure I would get the ones that intrigued me the most. Well, this one was one of those and I am glad they have it for the public. You should be able to find this wherever they sell Lost Abbey beers or in most places. I am here to see if this beer is worth what I was hoping for. Angel’s Share along with Deliverance and Serpent’s Stout are one of my favorite Lost Abbey beers and now this being a variant, I know it can only be way better . Let’s take a look, cheers!

Aromas:

Caramelized peaches, oak, dulce de leche caramel, fruit cake, vanilla, tropical mango notes, whiskey, crème brulee, dark fruits, chocolate, rocky road ice cream, leather tobacco, rye, molasses, hazelnut nectar, maple syrup notes.

Flavors:

Rich peaches, stone fruit apricots, mango, dragon fruit, passion fruit, black tea, green tea, juniper berries, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, bourbon, whiskey, oak, dark fruit raisins, prunes, currants, raspberries, flan, crème brulee, peach cobbler, hazelnut nectar, pecan pie, maple syrup, raisin bread pudding, anise, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, rye bread, rocky road ice cream, butterscotch, molasses, tobacco, leather, fruit cake, peach fuzzy navel, memosa, port wine notes and dark cherry chocolate cake.

Aftertaste:

Sweet Peach schnappy lingering, fuzzy navel oblivion, dulce de leche caramel, flan, and chocolate notes. No alcohol in the taste the despite the ABV, sipping drinkability, rich, smooth and creamy mouthfeel and pitch black abyss body.

Overall:

Simply orgasmic! Like a pleasure music in the form liquid and super pleasing to the mind and the taste buds. This being part Angel Share makes it happen already but that Peach and Black tea take things to a whole new level of complexity. I can definitely hope The Lost Abbey releases some of their other brews out as they are very enticing and supreme. I highly recommend this one.

Anime Corner:

Astaroth from Shinra Bansho was used in this pairing as she was the first demon girl aside from Morrigan and Lilith that I was very fond of. A character that is sweet at heart like the peaches in this beer but just happens to look very sinister like the Black Tea and the bourbon barrels this was aged in. Just because a devil is a devil doesn’t meant it will always be evil or have bad intentions. This was made with Angel Share afterall. The sweet melody is very enticing.

Pleasant Town by Offshoot Beer Co.

Rating: 4.5/5

Pleasant Town by Offshoot Beer Co. is a 7% ABV West Coast India Pale Ale with Citra hops, complimented by Centennial, Ekuanot and El Dorado. Brewed with CMC Superior Pilsen and wheat malts. Fermented with California Ale yeast. Canned on August 16, 2017
This one takes it back to the roots of the west coast with a very nice tropical life and yet super dank delicious flavors.

Starfish IPA by Brouwerij West

Rating: 5/5

Starfish IPA by Brouwerij West is a 6.8% ABV India Pale Ale with Mecca Grade barley, raw wheat, raw oats, raw rye, Chinook and Centennial hops, double dry hopped.
Super juice haze into the the dank west coast realm making it a super hybrid of an IPA. For this pairing I went with Undertale as I wanted to do a comparison of the skeleton in the label and Fritz as she looks to the water.

Mash & Spumoni by The Bruery

Rating: 7/7

Mash & Spumoni by The Bruery is a 12.8% ABV English Barleywine brewed with cherries, vanilla and pistachios aged in bourbon barrels

==Introduction==

The ancestor pastry of Neapolitan, this incarnation of Mash from the Bruery takes a page from the Italian version of Neapolitan, a layered ice cream with Chocolate or Vanilla, Pistachios, Cherries and whipped cream (where as Neapolitan is Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla). A trifecta/quadrafecta of pure bliss. The Bruery recently had this on tap and I skipped trying it since I didn’t know about it but when I heard how great it was, I had to get whatever few bit of it they had and bring it to the website. Surely an almost missed treasure of bucket listing proportions. I definitely thought that as I had a pour of it from the tap. I sure don’t know if they will still have this as I write this but it is is true, this should definitely be bottled. Now, let’s have a look at this amazing beer, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich pistachios, cherries, vanilla, chocolate, dulce de leche, bourbon, dark fruit raisins, currants, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, fruit cake, walnuts, almond joy chocolate, hazelnut cream, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, German Chocolate, Chocolate mousse, crème brulee, flan, sweetened condensed milk, honey, rocky road ice cream, waffle cone, Danish cream, Irish cream, Raspberry Chambord, banan sundae, butterscotch, chocolate brownies and reed velvet cake.

Flavors:
Super rich Spumoni and Neapolitan ice cream, Spumoni pie, dark cherry yogurt, pecan pie, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, oak, bourbon, marshmallow smores, toasted coconut, pistachios, walnuts, almond joy chocolate, hazelnut cream, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, German Chocolate, Chocolate mousse, crème brulee, flan, sweetened condensed milk, honey, rocky road ice cream, dark fruit raisins, currants, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, waffle cone, Danish cream, Irish cream, Raspberry Chambord, Mexican Alfajor Coconut pastry, madamia nuts, Macaroons, Chocolate brownies, butterscotch, graham crackers, pistachio ice cream, cookie dough ice cream and mint chocolate chip, red velvet cake, banana sundae.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with rich rich super ice cream flavors right off the scoop and cone of pistachios, cherries, vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit, fruit cake, almond joy, toasted, banana sundae, flan, waffle cone and marshmallows. No alcohol in the taste, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, should be a sipper but drinks way too easy, full black body.

Overall:
The Seed of Life from Monkish was a tincture of something that truly was supreme, but when you take that and make a #barleywineislife recipe and add the cherries, you just entered something that can only be described as inter-dimensional taste of experience. Like the episode 5 of Rick and Morty Season when Rick, Jerry and Risotto Groupon amalgamate their experiences over 1,000 life times of space and time to come to some existential enlightenment, then this is what this beer is like. Funny how the three of them were fused together kind of like the 3 layered fusion of this dessert beer. With a deeper understanding of what Barleywines are supposed to be, even the greats cannot judge something this vast. Most likely since they are drunk but regardless, this is something that is must to find if you can get it! Cheers!

Anime Corner:
Sai Hinoki from Betterman was used in this pairing as I wanted to promote the primary ingredients of cherries, pistachios, chocolate and vanilla. Essentially, you can easily see how her hair streaks of these colors would make for such a perfect pairing. Even though there is hardly any artwork of her as Better such an old series, the appreciation of bringing her into this pairing is what I really needed to do in my quest to pair one of each character of anime/video games that I am fond of to beer.

You Know What Time It Is! Collaboration by The Bruery and The Full Pint.com

Rating: 7/7

You Know What Time It Is! Collaboration by The Bruery and The Full Pint.com is a 15.1% ABV American Strong ale brewed with Peanut Flour, Salt and Boysenberries added aged in Bourbon Barrels.

Label:

Stately Affair!

==Introduction==

It’s peanut butter jelly time peanut butter jelly time! Where You at, Where You at? Now there ou go there you go, peanut butter jelly peanut butter jelly!! Damn. If PB Thursday wasn’t enough, they went ahead and added some jelly into the peanut butter mix! Granted, this is not Black Tuesday, but it might as well be. This beer since its inception was another beer that came from waayyyyy left field along with what White chocolate with cherries. I have to admit, the Bruery keeps pushing that damn limit of taste and experience forward and forward with every release. It’s a reason I am still a member of their reserve society for many years. This beer might just be the next favorite in the list of supremes for me from the Bruery. Time to take it to trial! Cheers!

Aromas:

Super Rich peanut butter and Raspberry Jelly aromas, lactose milk sugar, molasses, dark fruit raisins, black berries, blue berries, black cherries, currants, plums, cherry cheesecake, choco flan, bananas, vanilla, caramel, roasted peanuts with shells, nutter butter cookies, toffee, coffee cake, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, earthy notes, Reese’s peanut butter puffs cereal, coconut hints, marshmallows, graham cracker smores and rocky road ice cream hints.

Flavors:

Aftertaste:

Rich peanut butter and dark fruit raspberry, boysenberries, cherries, strawberies and other berry mixed lingers along with caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, nutter butter, cap’n crunch and Reese’s cereal, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and flan hints. No alcohol in the taste, super easy to drink despite the ABV, smooth, creamy, velvet and silky mouthfeel with a pitch black and crimson body.

Overall:

That baseball bat had nothingon this extremely bready, peanut butter and mixed berry jelly dessert. No fucking contest. This thing is definitely something that I think can stand toe to toe with the greats of Brury’s Weekday series, the White Chocolates and even more! I have no wordsleft to describe this glory of a beer. It is essentially something that I always wanted to see bottled. I have tried the few PB&J beers I could get my hands on and all were phenomenal, but this… this is just to the amazing super 4th or 5th dimension above. Get this beer if you can!!! They might still have it on tap as of August 2017!

Anime Corner:

Sash Lilac from Galaxy Trail Studios series, Freedom Planet! Was used in this pairing because a beer of this caliber definitely needed a character that paired greatly with my love for peanut butter and peanut butter jelly beers. Since I have been notorious to pair may favorite anime waifus in with some of the Bruery’s best, it was time that I brought her into the mix. What’s not to complement? Sash lilac is essentially that purple jelly that was missing from this peanut butter craze of mine. She is technically my new favorite addition to my already favorite list of top favorite anime characters only followed by Kos-mos, Temari, Yoruichi and Ryuko. She’s fast as hell and has a rightful sense of justice, she is humble and will stop at nothing to help out her friends and loved ones. Just the right character to pair a beer such as the this to the almighty Weekday series and above. This Peanut butter and jelly craze!

White Chocolate With Cherries by The Bruery

Rating: 7/7

White Chocolate With Cherries by The Bruery is a 14.2% ABV Wheat Wine Ale aged in Bourbon Barrels with Cacao Nibs, Vanilla Beans and Tart Cherries.

Label:

Take a Dip

==Introduction==

Holllyyyy shit! This beer came from left field. Especially since the already awesome White Chocolate was elevated to a new mastery with Cherries! I got a chance to try this one on tap when they had it at a Reserve Society night. The beer is exclusive to Hoarders and Reserve at the moment but slowly but surely, I am sure we will see it soon to preserve. It will be a while before the public sees it but regardless, you heard it here, let’s see how this upgrade is, cheers!

Aromas:

Super white chocolate cherry cordials, tart cherries, rich hazelnut, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel,Velvet vanilla, white chocolate, flan, rich bananas, rich Lechera sweetened condensed milk, oak, toasted coconut, marzipan, wine grapes, marshmallows, 3 leches, biscuit bread, dark butterscotch, stone fruit peaches, apricots, plums, white raisins, light butterscotch, biscuit bread with rich lechera, raisin bread pudding, crème brulee, Bavarian yeast phenolic notes, tropical fruits like sweet pineapple, dragon fruit, mango, pears, apples, coriander spice, clove spice, capirotada raisin bread pudding, cinnamon, pecan pie, almond joy chocolate and more complexities!

Flavors:

Super rich Chocolate Cherries, dark cherry yogurt, vanilla cherries, white chocolate covered cherry cordials, White chocolate, milk chocolate, rich bananas, rich dulce de leche, Rich Lechera Nestle sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, strawberry flan, pomegranates, raspberry chambord, bourbon, brown sugar, rich hazelnut, marshmallow, flan, mild citrus, marzipan , oak, toasted coconut, biscuit bread with creamy 3 leches spread (Three milks), pecan pie, almond joy, almond cream, tropical fruit like mild dragon fruit, sweet pineapple, mango hints, pears, apples, wine grapes, Stone fruits like peaches, apricots, plums, white raisins, butterscotch, coriander spice, clove spice, cinnamon, capirotada raisin bread pudding, Bavarian yeast phenols, dark butterscotch, piloncillo, crème brulee and more!

Aftertaste:

Lingering supreme dark, tart and sweet cherries and sweet condensed milk, white chocolate, vanilla, milk chocolate, bananas, clove spice, Chocolate cherry cordials and flan. No alcohol in the taste despite the 14.2% ABV, sipping yet smooth drinkability, syrupy and velvety mouth feel, medium to full hazy body and supremely dangerous to drink in one sitting.

Overall:

Fucking…. Ridiculous!!! White Choco Cherry Cordials in liquid form. The original White Chocolate was already beyond the beyond but now with cherries, its definitely pure sweet dessert bliss. I love cherry chocolate beers but a white chocolate cherry beer is something like matter meets antimatter and the gates of sweet flavor oblivion open up. A damn bucket lister no doubt! Plug it into my veins and you need to plug it into your as well.

Anime Corner:

Temari Sabakuno and Sakura Haruno from Naruto were the best pairing for this beer. Temari for the original White Chocolate base beer and Sakura for the Cherries used in many of the Cherry cordial beers I have had before with the Bruery. So a beer that blends Temari, one of my favorite anime character with Sakura, a secondary favorite of the Naruto show, this blend was well complemented in my mind.

Midnight Autumn Maple by The Bruery

Rating: 6/6

Midnight Autumn Maple by The Bruery is a 9% ABV Imperial Belgian Dark ale brewed with Yams, maple syrup, vanilla and spices.

Label:

Darker Times

==Introduction==

It’s been years since I tried the original Autumn maple so when I saw they were releasing this one, I had to bring it to the site. The same recipe but adding Midnight wheat definitely is sure to add some nice dark tones to the beer. Possibly in the realm of dark fruit or chocolate possibly. Let’s have a look at this new treat. Cheers!

Aromas:

Ginger bread cookies, prunes, dark candi sugar, burnt sugar, pumpkin flesh, sweet potatoes in maple syrup, milk sugar, dark chocolate and ginger bread cookies.

Flavors:

Dark candi sugar, molasses, dark fruit prunes, raisins, plums, figs, dates, maple syrup, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, banana bread, pumpkin flesh, sweet potato pie, sweetened condensed milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger bread cookies, cookies, burnt sugar and pecan pie.

Aftertaste:

Finishing with some anise notes, dark fruits, ginger bread cookies, cinnamon, banana bread and pumpkin pie. No alcohol in the taste, dark brown full body, smooth, creamy and syrupy mouthfeel and sipping drinkability.

Overall:

An exceptional beer! Definitely better than the original with the dark fruit and anise notes creating some very very delicious fall flavors that definitely are not replicated by the original. This one is a huge step up and I highly recommend it!

Anime Corner:

Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop was used in this pairing since this is the first time I used her in a Bruery pairing. The pairing works so damn well with the colors of the label but as you can see, the colors of dark fruit are also paired with her. It was a very nice pairing in my mind.

Share This: Mint Chip by The Bruery

Rating: 6/6

Share This: Mint Chip by The Bruery is a 10.5% ABV Imperial Stout with Mint and Cacao Nibs

Label:
Lend A Hand

==Introduction==

It is finally good to see another release in the series of Share This. Ever since the first one with Coffee, the many releases such as the Mole and Orange County have all been about charity work. The beer here is the same and helps with hunger relief. So definitely get it for a good cause. Cheers!

Aromas:
Milk chocolate candy, Mint chocolate chip ice cream, coffee notes and marshmallows.

Flavors:
Super mint chocolate chip, dark chocolate, bananas, clove spice, dark cherries, milk shake, sweetened condensed milk, anise, chocolate mousse, mint chocolate ice cream and fudge cake.

Aftertaste:
Finishes with super nice mint chocolate and dark fruit in the aftertaste. No alcohol in the taste, dark full body, smooth, creamy and velvety mouthfeel with a moderate to sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Amazing! Delicious in so many ways. Pure chocolate mints and ice cream. Reminding me a lot of the Perennial 17. Now many can enjoy a similar beer. Definitely get this one and help a good cause.

Anime Corner:
Asui Tsuyu/Froppy from My Hero Academia was used in this pairing not only because this was the first time I used her in a beer pairing or a Bruery pairing for that matter, but her colors complemented this beer through and through. Being an awesome character in the show, she is one of the most humble and lovable just like this beer. She goes out of her way to help everyone, family, friends and strangers. The charitable spirit of one that helps others and expects nothing in return and happy to do so is even complimentary of what this beer means, charity!

(AnimeBeers On The Road) 2017 Bourbon O.E. (Olde English) by Smog City Brewing

Rating: 6/6

2017 Bourbon O.E. (Olde English) by Smog City Brewing is a 13.1% ABV English Barleywine aged in Bourbon Barrels

When I first tried this beer a while back, it was one of the best beers I have had at Smog City’s taproom. Since that time, I knew they had bottle it recently and while I had not really brought the bottle to the site, I figure it was about time. So when I visited the brewery with some of my coworkers, I decided to get a bottle and share it at the brewery. That’s when I realized I never had it on the site so I decided better now than later. I love bourbon barrel aged beers and this barleywine is one of the best. Showcasing some very nice dulce de leche caramel, oak, vanilla, dark fruits and pecan pie goodness. A beer that I would highly recommend if you can find it. Cheers!

Stone 21st Anniversary Hail To the Hop Thief Double IPA by Stone Brewing

Rating: 5/5

Stone 21st Anniversary Hail To the Hop Thief Double IPA by Stone Brewing is a 9.8% ABV Imperial India Pale Ale.
My friend brought this beer over to a taste session and seeing as I had not tried the latest Stone Anniversary brew, I wanted to bring this one to the site. While trying to gather as much information as I could, I decided to bring out my Astaroth statue from Shinra Banshou for this pairing as I have paired her with many of the Stone beers in the past but this was the first time I have paired her in non picture form. The brew itself was really nicely hoppy with a malty backbone and lots of berry flavors. While the tropics are not over abundant, the beer had some in there for some nice complexity. It was definitely worth try and thanks to my friend Oscar for sharing this with me.

Spicy Mango Cart by Golden Road Brewing

Rating: 6/6

Spicy Mango Cart by Golden Road Brewing is a 3.2% ABV American Pale Wheat Ale brewed with Mangos with Tajin Habanero added

One of the best mango beers ever, this beer was inspired by the fruit cart vendors that sell the fruits with chile like tajin and chamoy. Of all the mango beers I have tried, none have come close to how ridiculously this taste like natural mango. I had yet to bring this one the site so when my friend brought it to an impromptu tasting, I had to take a picture and do an anime pairing. This pairing was with one of my favorite characters, Temari Sabakuno from the Naruto series. Her colors were the best for this pairing as she goes well with the yellows and oranges.

Orange X by AleSmith Brewing Company

Rating: 5/5

Orange X by AleSmith Brewing Company is a 5.25% ABV American Extra Pale Ale with oranges.
Amazing refreshing beer that really captures some very good citrus and orange flavors. A butt load of oranges all over and still including some nice tropical hop notes to boot. Don’t you wanna wanna Fanta! Lol straight up…. orange juice, orange peel, orange Fanta.

I chose Asuka Langley Sohryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion for this pairing since she fits with the colors.

2016 Ban-Anna’s Love Diablita De Leche Nectar by Nubis Sanctum Ales

Rating: 6.25/7

2016 Ban-Anna’s Love Diablita De Leche Nectar by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 10% ABV Doppel Weizenbock brewed with Bananas and Goat Milk Dulce De leche Caramel aged in White Grape Wine.

My homebrew from last year now 1 year and 5 months old has developed some very nice flavors! The banana is hardly there but the dark fruit and caramel shine massively. It also has some very nice gamey taste from the goat milk. Definitely even more unique than when I first had it. Still one of my best creations.

La Pingüina en Fuego by Clown Shoes brewing

Rating: 6/6

La Pingüina en Fuego by Clown Shoes brewing is an 11% ABV Imperial Stout aged in Rum Barrels with Habaneros.

Label:

People have been asking us to make a truly spicy chile beer, so we finally complied. Aged in rum barrels with habaneros, this version of chocolate sombrero is on a mission from God (to ignite your palate).

==Introduction==

The Female Penguin On Fire. I got this one since I had tried the Luchador en Fuego a long time ago. A nice mix with the Rum and this time, habanero peppers in the beer I’m sure would make for a damn adventure. Clown Shoes has always been very exceptional in their beer making process. So I would expect no less from even this one. A love for their series of barrel aged beers has always made a home on the website and as such, I try not to miss many of the great releases from them. This one no less either. I wonder which base they had used though? As this seems like if you added Hammer of the Holy with habaneros, although without the smoke and the holy water. Regardless, let’s take a look at this mighty brew, cheers!

Aromas:

Nice oak, rum, caramel, pecan pie, tropical fruit mango, piña colada, dragon fruit, passion fruit, kiwi, strawberries, habanero pepery spice, peppercorn, toasted coconut, bananas, dark fruit cherries, blueberries, raisins, plums, caramel, dulce de leche, vanilla, ancho, guajillo chile peppers, mocha, Irish cream and almond joy.

Flavors:

Rich dark spicy chocolate, Chocolate abuelita, mild habanero heat, milk chocolate, chocolate milk shake, marhsmallow smores, oak, bourbon, rum, bananas, clove spice, tropical fruit mango, piña colada, dragon fruit, passion fruit, kiwi, strawberries, dark fruit cherries, blueberries, raisins, plums, caramel, dulce de leche, vanilla, ancho, guajillo chile peppers, roasted barley, mocha, fruit cake, cinnamon, ginger notes, Danish cream, Irish cream liqueur, old Rasputin dark notes, toasted coconut and almond joy.

Aftertaste:

Lingering habanero heat but not enough to burn forever. Then again, I have a huge spicy toleance. Rich dark fruit, chocolate, rocky road ice cream, marshmallows, some hidden rum tropics of piña colada, mango, earthy peppercorn and toasted coconut. No alcohol in the taste, pitch black body, smooth, creamy, velvety and chewey mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:

Holy hell! This is one great spicy exceptional beer! Yes it is a phenomenal beer if you can work with the heat. Granted I don’t sense it as much as the non spicy food eater might. It does show case so many nice complex flavors that really work well with the already rum barrel imperial stout base elevating it into some new territory. I highly recommend this one!

Anime Corner:

Ultima from Final Fantasy Tactics was chosen to represent the nun and the penguin in the name of the label. Being holy which includes the angel wings and at the same time evil with the fire and brimstone she generates is well complimentary of the habaneros in this beer.

d-Unkle Peanut by Garage Brewing

Rating: 6/6

d-Unkle Peanut by Garage Brewing is a 4.8% ABV German Dunkel Weizen brewed with peanuts.

Label:

We believe in making our fresh craft beer from only the finest ingredients. And guess what? It’s really good! It’s a fun take on a classic Dunkle Weizen, and dedicated to your favorite Uncle that might just be a bit nutty.

==Introduction==

One of my favorite styles of beer when I first started, aside from the Belgian Quadrupel, was the Dunkelweizen or Dark Hefeweizen. It is not common but definitely common in Germany and one that often does not enough love in the beer world. However, when I saw that Garage Brewing made a Dunkelweizen, and one with peanuts no less, I had to bring it to the site. Peanut butter and peanut beers are awesome. Since Dunkels have a unique clove and banana spice flavor them, it would only be fitting that this work as a banana peanut butter beer. Let’s cher it out, cheers!
Aromas:

Rich roasted peanuts, banana, dark fruit, maple syrup, rye bread, vanilla, cashew milk, orange notes, mango notes, hazelnut nectar and peanut butter cookies.

Flavors:

Peanut butter, bananas, toffee, dulce de leche caramel, flan, clove spice, dark chocolate, dark fruit, hazelnut nectar, nutella, cadbury cream eggs, banana cream pie, marshmallows, nutter butter cookies, sweetened condensed milk, almond joy, rocky road ice cream, coriander spice, orange gummies, stone fruit hints, mango, maple syrup, rye bread, vanilla, cashew milk, captain crunch peanut butter cereal, Reese’s Peanut butter cereal, biscuit bread, Danish cream and cookie dough.
Aftertaste:

Very nice nutty peanut butter, hazelnut, nutella, chocolate, bananas, earthy notes, pecan pie and peanut buttery cookies. No alcohol in the taste. Brown body, smooth, creamy and velvety mouthfeel with a moderate drinkability.

Overall:

Perfect dunkel weisse, only if German law would allow, but because it does not, it does not need to. I find it awesome in my mind. Rich banana and peanut butter spicy and dark fruit goodness all around. It is nice to try something like this in a long time. I highly recommend it!
Anime Corner:

Sally Acorn from the Sonic The Hedgehog series was used in this pairing mainly since I wanted to try and find a character that is into nuts and well since I haven’t used her in pairings, I figure it was about time I paired her with her own beer.

2016 Akevitt Barrel-Aged Porter by HaandBryggeriet

Rating: 7/7

2016 Akevitt Barrel-Aged Porter by HaandBryggeriet is a 10% ABV Norwegian Porter aged in Aquavit/ Akevitt Barrels.

Label:

Batch 981 Barrel-Aged Porter from HaandBryggeriet from Drammen, Norway members of the Scandinavian Craft Brewers Guild 1pt, 9 oz. 500 ml

Once, all farmers in Norway made beer. Some also made Akevitt, a spirit flavored with herbs or spices. A shot of Akevitt was traditionally chased with a shot of beer. In a brilliant turn of one-stop-shopping ingenuity, the Haand brewers – four guys making beer in their spare time, on an absurdly small scale – have aged this traditional dark, hearty farm Porter in Akevitt barrels.

==Introduction==

I haven’t had this beer in yeeeaaarrrss!! Back then when bourbon barrel aged beers were hard to come by, there was this crazy beer aged in Aquavit/Akevitt which is the traditional Scandinavian drink of yore made since the 15th Century. This brew was bottled back in 2016 so it has sat for about a year. I had recently found it even though back then it was one of the rarest beers to find, especially because not many beers are aged in Aquavit. In fact, I have tasted no other beer ever with this spirit, so yeah, it is pretty damn rare. It is not a hyped beer, in fact it is under hyped but it is still one rarity of a whale. Let’s see how it is, cheers!

Aromas:
Dark fruits, smokey, licorice, anise, fruit cake, dark currant flan, oak, burnt sugar, rock candy, port wine, red wine, funky notes, dark farmhouse hay, tobacco, herbs, black tea, spices, banana, clove spice, brandy, cognac and some dark spicy liqueur or wine which I assume is the Akevitt.

Flavors:
Deep oak, licorice, anise, roasted barley, herbs, spices, dark fruits raisins, figs, prunes, cherries, plums, bananas, clove spice, smokey notes, marshmallow, earthy hops, dark farmhouse hay, mint, black root, black tea, dark chocolate, port wine, rum, bourbon hints, juniper berries, cognac hints, chardonnay, raspberry Chambord, rye bread, leather, tobacco, blueberries, fudge cake, flan, stone fruit apricot, fruit cake, brown sugar, currants, rock candy, peppercorns, brandy notes, wine grape notes, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla and brettanomyces.

Aftertaste:
Lots of smokey, earthy and cholatey notes lingering for a long time with the nice dark fruit, oak, fruit cake, leather, tobacco, licorice and funky port wine. No alcohol in the taste, pitch black dark body, chewy, smooth, creamy and syrupy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
An exceptional and unique brew. Much of the rating I give has to do with the special barrel aging and the fact that it reminds me of some of the greats of the world like Ommegang Art of Darkness, Stillwater Folklore, Lost Abbet Serpent Stout aged and even De Struise Brouwers Damnation. However, its uniqueness also shines in this herbal, spicy, muddy, oaky, leathery and dark fruit aspects of the Akevitt which really makes this beer way different. Some flavors which I can make out from the beer but others is really difficult. Regardless, it sits in the bucket list categories for esoteric, dark aged European beers.

Anime Corner:
Shayla Shayla from El Hazard was used in this pairing as she was use in the previous iteration of this beer. So it was only fitting that she make a return in this one. Some of the funky oaky flavors as well as the herbal and dark flavors can be seen in some of the art work represented by dark skinned and red haired Shayl Shayle on some farm hay. Yes, this was the inspiration.
