We did it. We put a peanut butter jelly sandwich in a bottle. Some would say that this is a crime against all that is decent in the world of craft beverages, but this Peanut Butter Jelly Crime has yet to receive judgement from you, a distinguished member of the jury. So carefully examine all of the evidence provided by the prosecution, and consider the alibi of the defense, as you decipher the multifaceted complexity of the case. As you enjoy PBJC, don’t forget the toast!

==Introduction==

Oh I heard of this one! Fuck yeah heard of this one. I herd of it so much that I hard damn time getting this one. There was only a single place that I knew of that had this mead on deck and that one the San Diego BestDamnBeerShop.com Granted, this bottle was expensive, but for the rarity and for what it was…(Let’s be honest, I had a sweet spot for peanut butter and PBJ anything) I could not pass up bringing this special mead to the site. Besides the fact that it is peanut butter, it is another reason for me to create my own peanut butter and jelly mead or beer! It is really inspiring and one that if I love this, will definitely figure out the recipe. Let’s have a look, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich dark fruits, blueberries, dark cherries, raisins, wine grapes, pomegranates, wild flower honey, mixed nut notes, Peanut butter for days, Nutter butter cookies, peanut butter brittle, banana hints, special pastries, chocolate, dark candy sugars, port wine, apple pie and fruit cake.

Flavors:
Rich blueberries, raspberries, dark fruit raisins, figs, dark cherries, cherry yogurt, raspberry chambord, cranberries, pomegranates, port wine, wine grapes, dark candi sugar, wild flower honey, butter scotch, peaches and cream, apple pie, candied apples, banana notes, banana cream notes, chocolate notes, rock candy, peanut butter, butter butter cookies, Reeces pieces, hazelnut, walnuts, pralines, pancakes, waffle cone, waffles, pecan pie, boysenberry cobbler, rye bread, biscuit bread, molasses, fruit cake, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel and flan.

Aftertaste:
Finishing sweet with lingering blueberries and mixed dark fruits along with that nice slippery, peanut buttery goodness, honey, banana, berry pastries, wine grapes, raspberry liqueur, mixed nuts and more. No alcohol in the taste, and very dangerous at that. The color is a magenta rose clear body, smooth, creamy, buttery and velvety mouthfeel along with a drinkability that is extremely easy and extremely dangerous. I think the crime part is starting to make sense.

Overall:
Hands down, next to the Dragon’s Milk aged mead, the best mead in fucken existence period! What is this?!?!! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!!!? Literal, peanut butter and jelly liquid bliss and not even the chocolate kind. Yesh, essentially the kind you can soak up in pancakes and have immediately. Everything I love about Peanut butter and Jelly, in mead form becomes a bigger punch in the face. Granted, the roasty chocolate and coffee found in beers with peanut butter and jelly help, in the hands of pure fermented honey seems like an unheard of ambrosia. There is a reason for the name. It is a crime if you finish this in one sitting but damn it is exquisitely tempting. I highly recommend it if you can find it.

Anime Corner:
Sasha Lilac was brought back for this pairing as I had decided to bring her for a another peanut butter and jelly pairing time. Now in order for this to work with the label and the theme of the mead, I had to mix the pairings to make it seems like crime fighting and investigating is part of the overall fight of the crime specified in the label. Examples include her reaching out in rage realizing what has happened in the game, one even involves taking down a suspect. Others seems more simple but have a them going that complements this story.

If PB Thursday wasn’t enough, they went ahead and added some jelly into the peanut butter mix! Granted, this is not Black Tuesday, but it might as well be. This beer since its inception was another beer that came from waayyyyy left field along with what White chocolate with cherries. I have to admit, the Bruery keeps pushing that damn limit of taste and experience forward and forward with every release. It’s a reason I am still a member of their reserve society for many years. This beer might just be the next favorite in the list of supremes for me from the Bruery. Time to take it to trial! Cheers!

Overall:

That baseball bat had nothingon this extremely bready, peanut butter and mixed berry jelly dessert. No fucking contest. This thing is definitely something that I think can stand toe to toe with the greats of Brury’s Weekday series, the White Chocolates and even more! I have no wordsleft to describe this glory of a beer. It is essentially something that I always wanted to see bottled. I have tried the few PB&J beers I could get my hands on and all were phenomenal, but this… this is just to the amazing super 4th or 5th dimension above. Get this beer if you can!!! They might still have it on tap as of August 2017!

Anime Corner:

Sash Lilac from Galaxy Trail Studios series, Freedom Planet! Was used in this pairing because a beer of this caliber definitely needed a character that paired greatly with my love for peanut butter and peanut butter jelly beers. Since I have been notorious to pair may favorite anime waifus in with some of the Bruery’s best, it was time that I brought her into the mix. What’s not to complement? Sash lilac is essentially that purple jelly that was missing from this peanut butter craze of mine. She is technically my new favorite addition to my already favorite list of top favorite anime characters only followed by Kos-mos, Temari, Yoruichi and Ryuko. She’s fast as hell and has a rightful sense of justice, she is humble and will stop at nothing to help out her friends and loved ones. Just the right character to pair a beer such as the this to the almighty Weekday series and above. This Peanut butter and jelly craze!

¡Viva La Beaver! By Belching Beaver

13557900_10103365180812640_2953433082388971184_nRating: 6.5/7

¡Viva La Beaver! By Belching Beaver is a 7.5% ABV Sweet/Milk Stout brewed with Peanut Butter, and Mexican Chocolate.

Label:

We made this beer originally for the SD Tap Room in Pacific Beach as their 8th Anniversary beer. Marc Truex set it all up. It became our highest rated beer (until Pound Town). Thomas kept asking to make it again but we never ad tank space. Now that we opened the new Oceanside facility we can make many more styles. Troy said he wanted to start a Milk Stout series, we decided to start with this one. It’s Mexican Chocolate. It’s peanut butter. The Beaver has a cool mustache. What’s not to like? I wanted to call it “Livin La Beaver Loca”, but I was outvoted.

Cheers!

Tom

I have had so many delicious Mexican Choco Stouts as well that have definitely blown me away. Now when I saw Belching Beaver decided to mix up the 2 and bottle it, it was a mind blow! I was able to get this one early as I purchased it at CraftShack.com but I know it will be around here locally soon. I just couldn’t wait to bring it to the site which is what made me so excited. So I am happy to present, the review to this awesome new entry from Belching Beaver. Salucita!

Deep dark abyss body, rich, velvety, smooth, creamy and syrupy mouth feel with a moderate drinkability.

Overall:

Madre de Dios! Supremely exceptional. This is definitely one of the best if not the best Peanut Butter Milk Stout I have ever had. This one definitely reminds me of Ramuri’s Peanut butter stout from Tijuana. Although the Mexican Chocolate definitely brings it to a newer level and really compliments the beer overall. This is something I will definitely get again and stash several bottles of. So much so that I would suggest you do the same if you loved the original peanut butter milk stout. Highly recommended.

Anime Corner:

Original Mexican characters by Daniel Heron of Deviantart.com, Cham Cham from Samurai Showdown and Annet Myer from El Viento were all used in reference to the Mexican themed beer that we have here as well as all the colors to fit the label. Also, the anthropomorphic characters from the first picture and Cham Cham fit with the little Mexican beaver. The attire from Annet and the girl fit with old school indigenous and revolutionary gear wore in the pre modern eras.

John Paul Jones Peanut Butter & Raspberry Jelly by Brew Rebellion is a 10.2% ABV Imperial Stout brewed with Raspberries and Peanut Butter.

Label:
Everyone Enjoys a rebellious spirit now and again.

==Introduction==

It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time, Peanut Butter Jelly Time! Where you at? Where You at? Now there you go, There you go! Peanut butter Jelly, peanut butter Jelly and a baseball bat!

Holy shit! I went to pick up my local order of Bruery beers and stopped by the shop near by. This took me by surprise as it was hidden away in a box but caught my eye as I saw the different colored wax on the beer. I thought to myself, well, this must be something special cuz it is probably going to be expensive. I saw what it was, a peanut butter and raspberry jelly beer and I did not hesitate to buy it. At 1 per customer, I was like damn it!! I needed to get another one or two but I figured, well I will come back. Apparently they released this in very small quantities to limited places. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Now I have tried many great and awesome peanut butter chocolate milk stouts but never one that was a peanut butter and jelly mix. I can only hope this is as awesome as my crazy mind thought it would be. Let’s check this out and cheers to all!

Aromas:
Super Rich peanut butter and Raspberry Jelly aromas, lactose milk sugar, molasses, dark fruit raisins, black berries, blue berries, black cherries, currants, plums, cherry cheesecake, choco flan, bananas, vanilla, caramel, roasted peanuts with shells, nutter butter cookies, toffee, coffee cake, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, earthy notes, Reese’s peanut butter puffs cereal, coconut hints, marshmallows, graham cracker smores and rocky road ice cream hints.

Flavors:
Rich peanut butter, Rich Raspberry Jelly, toasted rye bread, bananas, vanilla, caramel, roasted peanuts with shells, nutter butter cookies, toffee, coffee cake, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, earthy notes, Reese’s peanut butter puffs cereal, lactose milk sugar, molasses, dark fruit raisins, black berries, blue berries, black cherries, currants, plums, cherry cheesecake, choco flan, whipped cream, Irish cream hints, coconut hints, marshmallows, graham cracker smores, rocky road ice cream hints, dark chocolate, cocoa crispies, brown sugar, candi sugar, rock candy, oatmeal cookies, mocha hints and hazelnut nectar.

Aftertaste:
Rich peanut butter and dark fruit raspberry and other berry mixed lingers along with caramel, vanilla, hazlnut, earthy hints, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and flan hints. No alcohol in the taste, super easy to drink despite the ABV, smooth, creamy, velvet and silky mouthfeel with a pitch black and crimson surface (under the light) full body.

Overall:
WOW, Simply put, they were not joking when they were trying to get the exact! Flavors of peanut butter and Jelly. Although, this is way more than just that. There is so much rich complexity of flavors going on but none of it is intimidating and at the rate of being dangerously drinkable, it is pretty damn crazy. I will need to find more bottles of this and definitely think I will try to mimic the recipe somehow. I highly recommend this one!

Anime Corner:
Temari Sabakuno and Yoruichi Shihouin from Naruto and Bleach respectively were used in this pairing since I wanted to pair them with the colors of the peanut butter and jelly. They are 2 of my favorite anime characters and so using them in this pairing was awesome for me. Their colors also represent other flavors of the beer such as the chocolate, vanilla, waffle cone, coconut, flan, dark fruits and other sweet flavors colonthree emoticon
