Peanut Butter Latte from Belching Beaver

Rating: 7/7

Peanut Butter Latte from Belching Beaver is a 5% ABV Golden Stout brewed with Coffee, Chocolate and Peanut butter.

Label:
People love our Peanut Butter Milk Stout, and this time we put a fun twist on our classic. Thomas brewed up a milk stout that is golden in color, a real sensory trip, and loaded it with coffee and chocolate.

Then we kicked it up a notch by peanut-butterizing (is that a word?) the beer for a real treat for Winter months. Tom said, “A Peanut Butter Latte, that sounds great!” Perfect to sip on chilled nights and early mornings. We hope you enjoy this new adventure in brewing as much as we do.

==Introduction==

A White Stout?! And a Peanut butter one at that! The style is a pretty rare with the use of coffee, pale malts, and lactose gives the style some of the flavors of actual stouts but the appearance is golden like other beers. It is kind of a trick of the senses. Many of the golden stouts I have had before have been that, tastes like a stout, looks like a pale or golden beer. This one however, is the first one I have ever seen that uses other ingredients like peanut butter. While I cannot include the Red Velvet Stout from Ballast Point as a contender for Golden Stout as it is the same style but with red instead of gold, this is only for a beer that is golden in appearance. In fact, the style is awesome that I once took a shot in the dark and made a Golden Belgian Stout myself which turned out to be awesome. Anyways, the fact that this is the first of its kind it is definitely an intriguing one. Let’s have a look, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich peanut butter mocha, coffee, Danish cream, milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, Kahlua Coffee Liqueur, toffee, tiramisu, Cadburry Cream eggs, Frappuccino, rocky road ice cream, almond joy, flan, sweetened condensed milk, nutter butter cookies, cookie dough ice cream, mazapan, Kahlua Coffee Liqueur, butterscotch, whipped cream and dark fruits.

Flavors:
Rich Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispies, Reese’s Pieces, vanilla, caramel, rye bread, biscuit bread, sweetened condensed milk, flan, marshmallows, chocolate marshmallow smores, white chocolate, whipped cream, Irish cream, Danish cream, Milk Chocolate shake, Milk chocolate, Bakers chocolate, cherries, strawberries, butterscotch, almond milk, cashew milk, steamed milk, almond joy, marzipan, peanut brittle, nutter butter cookies, cookie dough ice cream, mazapan, Kahlua Coffee Liqueur, mocha, Cadbury cream egg notes, maple syrup, hazelnut nectar, nutella, rocky road ice cream, frappuccino, stone fruit hints and captain crunch peanut butter cereal.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with lots of sweet flavors of chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter, marshmallow, peanut brittle, mazapan, caramel, Irish cream, mocha, white chocolate, and cookie dough ice cream. No alcohol in the taste, gold and clear body, smooth, creamy, velvety and refreshing mouthfeel along with an extremely easy drinkability.

Overall:
Ridiculously pastry of a beer! Peanut Butter Tiramasu essentially. I am not sure what it is about the coffee or the fact that it is a different style but still a milk stout, it takes what I loved about the original Peanut Butter Milk stout and amps it up to a higher level. Many people that love the Peanut Butter milk stout will definitely find this one to be a step above. Lots of dessert and nutty flavors and a lot of complexity. I highly recommend it and this one is a bucket lister in my book.

Anime Corner:
Temari Sabakuno from the Naruto Series was used in this pairing since I would typically use one of my favorite characters to pair with a special beer that seems worthy. For this one, the blonde color of the stout for being a stout but a golden stout, pairs with Temari’s blonde hair. While Ninjas are quick and deadly, this beer is so sweet and smooth, you won’t notice anything until you finish the bottle in one sitting. Also, since ninjas are great at stealth, for this looking like a regular beer but tasting like a stout is a mind blow!

Released by Belching Beaver on October 2016. The first release was ridiculous outselling right away in many Bevmos across Southern California. While many believed it was the last of its kind, Belching Beaver had more to released a couple weeks later. In fact, if you are lucky (As of November 1st 2016) you can get some online or at a local Bev-mo. Online stores like craftshack.com still have it. I wanted to release this one on Dia De Los Muertos and lucky I was able to snag one just for the occasion. This release comes as a tribute to the song by the same name released by the Deftones in their “GORE” album which features Jerry Cantrell which also comes from the band “Alice in Chains” and many other awesome bands such as Metallica. He lends a special part with his guitar influences which makes for a great album and well, what a better way to commemorate that with this beer. Cheers and Rock ON!!!

Aromas:
Dank, garlicky, floral, piney, herbal and grassy hops, stone peaches, apricots, rich tropical fruits, guava, strawberry, mango, dragon fruit, passion fruit, pineapple juice, kiwi, prickly pears, pomegranates, honey dew melon, papaya, cranberries, cherries, tangerines, lychee, kumquats, orange honey blossom, lemon starburst, orange starburst, lemon candy, grapefruit pulp and juice, tangerine gummies, vanilla and sweetened condensed milk hints.

Flavors:
Rich tropical fruit, passion fruit, dragon fruit, guava, mango, pineapple juice, kiwi, prickly pears, honey dew melon, papaya, pomegranates, dank, garlicky, floral, piney, herbal and grassy hops, basil, lemon grass, vanilla, tangerine gummies, tropical fruit smoothie, grape hints, kumquats, lychees, cherries, cranberries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, orange honey blossom, lemon starburst, orange starburst, lemon candy, stone peaches, apricots, sweetened condensed milk hints, Danish cream hints, grapefruit juice, tampico orange juice, lime aide and almond cream hints

Aftertaste:
Finishing with rich fruit cup, tropical and citrus fruit flavors with rich hop dankness, sweetened condensed milk hints, honey, and other juicy fruits. No alcohol in the taste, Pale Golden Honey light to medium body, crisp, clean, smooth, refreshing and velvety mouthfeel with an easy drinkability.

Overall:
No wonder it is a hard beer to get. It is not New England haze but it sure damn tastes like it. Belching Beaver has never disappointed me even with the release of the much loved Peanut butter and Mexican Chocolate Milk stout, this is amazing. Their Here Comes Mango was an amazing beer but this is kicking stuff to a whole new level. This is a supreme bucket listing juice bomb. It still goes to show that even the west coast can still kick ass even if it is not with a super hazy brew like the hyped ones in the east or special can released. Just like the day of the dead, I hope you can get this one before kicking the bucket as well. A supreme juicy bomb that is highly recommended!!

Anime Corner:
Emily from The Corpse Bride and an original character were the closest I could come up for known characters that could be used to pair with the name of the beer. The theme of day of the dead as well and generally, the wandering of the bride as she had spent life maybe never achieving what she wanted due to something she prevented herself from doing or even, loving in general. Pretty deep stuff but it is enough for people to respect the way others live their lives be it good or bad, the important part is to hope they lived it to their means.

Here Comes Mango by Belching Beaver is a 6.6% ABV India Pale Ale brewed with mango and pineapple.

Label:
Back story here is we hired a local brewery to contract brew for us. We were having a real problem producing enough of the Great Lei coconut pineapple IPA so we started making it there. We had planned to phase it out for the winter. I let out distributors know. In a brewers meeting it came up that the orders had stopped. Troy said, ‘but i have 160 barrels at the contract brew house!” I said, ‘aren’t you looking at the order sheets?’ Troy said, ‘no I never look at those! My bad’ That’s our Troy. He came up with the idea of turning them into a mango IPA, the beer took off! Here comes Mango!

==Introduction==

Since the released of the Great Lei, I thought that would be the best tropical IPA for the series at Belching Beaver. Ever since I found that they combined the pineapple one with Mango I definitely had to bring it here to the site. Belching Beaver has been making some very delicious beers. This version seems very promising. So without further ado, on with the review, cheers!

Aromas:
Strawberry, mango, pineapple, prickly pear, honey dew melon, papaya, guava, kiwi, stone fruit peaches, lychee, lemon candy, grapefruit, piney, floral, grassy and mild herbal hops, starburst candy, banana, biscuit bread and bubble gum hints.

Flavors:
Tropical fruit Mango, pineapple, papaya, guava, kiwi, strawberries, honey dew melon, passion fruit, dragon fruit, prickly pears, biscuit bread, cherries, grapefruit, piney, floral, grassy and mild herbal hops, starburst candy, lemon candy, tangerine gummies, stone fruit peach, apricot, lychee, sweetened condensed milk, cocada Mexican coconut candy hints, bananas, bubble gum hints, and green tea ice cream.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with mango, pineapple, kiwi, strawberry, tropical fruits, stone fruits, biscuit bread, floral and piney notes, wheat notes and dank herbal hops. No alcohol in the taste. Clear golden body, smooth, crisp, clean and refreshing mouth feel with an easy drinkability.

Overall:
I definitely thought this was a perfect beer. Blending the Great Lei, an already loved beer with the pineapple, and now with mango, it takes the beer to an awesome level of deliciousness. It is just as fruity if not fruitier than the Great Lei. Overall though, such a refreshing beer for the summer and one I highly recommend. Belching Beaver makes some of the best beers out there.

Anime Corner:
Annie Leonhardt from Attack on Titan was used in this pairing as I wanted to pair the military clothing the beaver wears with a character that wears similar and in this case, Annie. Especially since her blonde hair goes well with the color of the beer and its ingredients of Mango and Pineapple.

¡Viva La Beaver! By Belching Beaver

13557900_10103365180812640_2953433082388971184_nRating: 6.5/7

¡Viva La Beaver! By Belching Beaver is a 7.5% ABV Sweet/Milk Stout brewed with Peanut Butter, and Mexican Chocolate.

Label:

We made this beer originally for the SD Tap Room in Pacific Beach as their 8th Anniversary beer. Marc Truex set it all up. It became our highest rated beer (until Pound Town). Thomas kept asking to make it again but we never ad tank space. Now that we opened the new Oceanside facility we can make many more styles. Troy said he wanted to start a Milk Stout series, we decided to start with this one. It’s Mexican Chocolate. It’s peanut butter. The Beaver has a cool mustache. What’s not to like? I wanted to call it “Livin La Beaver Loca”, but I was outvoted.

Cheers!

Tom

When I first saw this beer, I literally went insane. I love the Peanut butter milk stout they make and overall peanut butter beers. I have had so many delicious Mexican Choco Stouts as well that have definitely blown me away. Now when I saw Belching Beaver decided to mix up the 2 and bottle it, it was a mind blow! I was able to get this one early as I purchased it at CraftShack.com but I know it will be around here locally soon. I just couldn’t wait to bring it to the site which is what made me so excited. So I am happy to present, the review to this awesome new entry from Belching Beaver. Salucita!

Lots of rich Peanut Butter, Mazapan, Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Chocolate abuelita, German Chocolate, Fudge Chocolate, Baker’s chocolate, dulce de leche caramel, cajeta, flan, cinnamon, fruit cake, roasted peanuts with the shells, nutter butter cookies, toffee, roasted coffee notes, mocha, lactose milk sugar, buttered rye toasted bread, Reese’s Peanut butter cups, marshmallows, chocolate peanut butter smores, pan dulce, capirotada raisin bread pudding, pecan pie, dark fruit raisins, prunes, currants, blackberry notes, hazelnut nectar, almond milk, chocolate mousse, Champurrado Maize drink, Chocolate Atole and chocolate bananas.

Aftertaste:

Finishing with super rich Reese’s Chocolate Peanut butter cups if they were made with dark chocolate and abuelitas chocolate. Lots of hints of dulce de leche, mazapan, dark fruits, marshmallowss, champurrado and nutter butter cookies. No alcohol in the taste. Deep dark abyss body, rich, velvety, smooth, creamy and syrupy mouth feel with a moderate drinkability.

Overall:

Madre de Dios! Supremely exceptional. This is definitely one of the best if not the best Peanut Butter Milk Stout I have ever had. This one definitely reminds me of Ramuri’s Peanut butter stout from Tijuana. Although the Mexican Chocolate definitely brings it to a newer level and really compliments the beer overall. This is something I will definitely get again and stash several bottles of. So much so that I would suggest you do the same if you loved the original peanut butter milk stout. Highly recommended.

Anime Corner:

Original Mexican characters by Daniel Heron of Deviantart.com, Cham Cham from Samurai Showdown and Annet Myer from El Viento were all used in reference to the Mexican themed beer that we have here as well as all the colors to fit the label. Also, the anthropomorphic characters from the first picture and Cham Cham fit with the little Mexican beaver. The attire from Annet and the girl fit with old school indigenous and revolutionary gear wore in the pre modern eras.

==Introduction==

I have tried many of the Belching Beaver beers ranging from the Peanut Butter Milk stout, Pineapple IPA, Me So honey and even had a chance to visit their brewery. For being a sought after yet very common brews, they grew well so many could enjoy their beers. I remember when I visited long ago with my friends Oscar, Julio and Jeanette we tried many of the beers but there was a picture of a mean looking beaver. That mean looking beaver was a picture of this beer. It was on a Metal sign and I was wondering, damn, I would sure one day love to try that brew. I had totally forgotten about it until my friend Aaron Mendiola of BeerMetalDude.com had mentioned that he would like for me to find this one. That is when I remembered, they did eventually release this beer on bottles. While it was sold out in many places, I was able to find it online eventually. Now that the beer is here, without further ado, I bring you, the review for the Ol’ Dirty Barrel, cheers!

Aromas:
Oak, Toasted coconut, toffee, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, toffee, crème brulee, flan, Danish cream, toffee, Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, bakers chocolate, German chocolate, Belgian chocolate, rye bread, bourbon, graham cracker marshmallow, smores, pecan pie notes, dark fruit raisins, dark cherries, currants plums, tobacco, leather notes, brownie batter, chocolate cake notes, chocolate mousse, and banana notes.

Flavors:
Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, bakers chocolate, German chocolate, Belgian chocolate, toasted coconut, crème brulee, flan, Danish cream, Irish cream coffee, oak, bourbon, whiskey, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, toffee, rye bread, bourbon, marshmallow, smores, graham crackers, almond joy chocolates, dark fruit raisins, dark cherries, currants plums, Coffee, Kahlua Liqueur, coffee cake, pecan pie, bananas, clove spice, sweetened condensed milk, tobacco, leather notes, brownie batter, chocolate cake notes, chocolate mousse, anise and molasses.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with lots of oaky notes, dark chocolates, toasted coconut, cherries, flan, whiskey and almond joy notes. No alcohol in the taste, Dark full body, smooth, creamy, velvety and chewy mouthfeel with an easy to sipping drinkability.

Overall:
An exceptional barrel aged brew. Belching beaver has been one of the most top notch breweries I have tried and to finally get a chance to try their take on an imperial stout aged in oak barrels, now this was definitely worth the find. So much complexity and flavors that I love from these barrel aged brews similar to the likes of Bourbon County, Parabola, Black Tuesday and others. This one stands on its own as the nutty hazelnut and milk chocolate flavors do tend to stand out a bit more along with the coconut noted. That and the fact that the drinkability did range as there was times I felt I could drink it easily but decided not to take my time with it. There is a reason it is sold out but I am sure they will release it again. If you find it, get this one, I highly recommend it!
12440599_10103173447038660_1997237054284969412_o
Anime Corner:
Yoko Littner and Boota from Tengen Toppa Gurren Laggan were used in this pairing for Boota to represent the Beaver inside the barrel. The pairing of the reds is obvious. While Boota represents the beaver, Yoko would probably represent the barrel where Boota resides. While yes it is innuendoes, I couldn’t help myself but have a couple of laughs. Besides, I use Yoko for a lot of my good beer pairings. This one just happens to be pairing with Boota.

Pumpkin Spice Milk Stout by Belching Beaver

Pumpkin Spice Milk Stout by Belching Beaver is a 5.3% ABV Sweet/Milk Stout brewed with Pumpkin spices.

Label:
It’s all about the Beaver
We came out with this beer when we first opened in 2012; our first derivative of our Nitro “Beaver’s Milk” stout and people loved it. Everyone, but the brewers. The spices were clogging up the nitro spouts. We were constantly cleaning them. Troy would not make it the same again the following year. So now you know what I have to deal with. It’s always production verse sales. Dave and I love the beer and wanted it back. So basically this year, I pre-sold some rather larger accounts, I’m just sneaky that way. So we have to make it now, and we did. Hints of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves, you know, Pumpkin Pie! – Tom

==Introduction==

Belching Beavers has been one of those awesome breweries that has really nailed the aspect beer and beer flavors almost to the T in taste. The Peanut Butter Milk Stout has been a super favorite for my friends Oscar and Julio for the longest time. Our trip earlier even justified it with their brewery only release of the Milk coconut stout. Since then, I have reviewed other beers like the Me So Honey, Great Lei IPA and the Me So Honey, All great beers. So now that they released this Fall offering, it was obvious I wanted to bring this one to the site as well. This is the first pumpkin beer I review this year. I have reviewed many of the best in the craft beer world and hold Belching Beaver to high standards but still going non biased, I will try this one and see where it stands in my many pumpkin beer reviews. Cheers!

Aromas:
Chocolate, coffee cake hints, mild pumpkin, nutmeg, allspice, clove spice, ginger spice, mint, marshmallows, anise, licorice hints, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, pumpkin pie, roasted malts, milk sugar, pumpkin spice latte, citrus, vanilla, caramel and brown sugar.

Flavors:
Pumpkin, candy corn, mint, anise, licorice hints, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, pumpkin pie, marshmallow hints, roasted malts, milk sugar, pumpkin spice latte, vanilla, caramel, ginger spice, ginger bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove spice, banana hints, citrus, Danish cream hints, buttermilk crust hints, brown sugar, citrus and coffee cake hints.

Aftertaste:
Pumpkin spice, earthy notes, vanilla, cinnamon, roasted malt notes, milk sugar, dark chocolate and mint. No alcohol in the the tastes, dark full body, creamy, smooth and silky mouthfeel and an easy to moderate drinkability.

Overall:
A very good Pumpkin beer for sure but even while it does lean toward the pumpkin spiced milk lattes in a way, it unfortunately does not exceed my expectations in terms of some of the other pumpkin beers I have had before. What can I say, I’m a Picky Pumpkin Eater/Drinker. It is still the delicious Belching Beaver type of beer many love which I really do but I come from a background where pumpkin beers actually taste like actual pumpkin pie, pumpkin flesh, or rich pumpkin in Mexican pilloncillo and, milk and cinnamon stick, like the kind of desserts my mom used to make. I’m looking at my all time faves, Smashing Pumpkin by Shipyard. I have to be fair though because this is not strictly a pumpkin beer and it actually falls more with the pumpkin stouts and porters. The best one of those styles was the Midnight Sun T.R.E.A.T. Still though, this is a delicious little minty pumpkin pie milk stout and as that, it is very good so I recommend it even worth the try.

Anime Corner:
Samus Aran from Metroid makes her way to this Halloween pairing. Reason I wanted to pair Samus with this beer is because pumpkins and she has many delicious pumpkins. That and this is the first time I try a Halloween pairing with Samus anyway. The beer and the art says how good the beer is that you will want to leave that candy pumpkin glass dry!

Great Lei by Belching Beaver

11754360_10102702345225470_6559022880061832533_oRating: 4.95/5

Great Lei by Belching Beaver is a 6.6% ABV Pineapple Colada India Pale Ale

Label:

Ivan made a cask called Pineapple Colada IPA. I could not believe how great it was. So Troy came up with a commercial recipe and brewed it . I thought, “Wow!” Lets call this the “Aloha Beaver” and we came up with this cool Hawaiian label. Well Thomas didn’t like that name so I had to change it. (Brewers can be a real pain) Mark had put a really cool lei on the beaver and I thought, “That’s a Great Lei!”. We’re not that imaginative so “Great Lei IPA!” it is. Thomas wanted “Good Lei” but he is not allowed to name beer anymore.

Cheers,
Tom

Ingredients: Water, Malt Natural Flavors Hops and Yeast

==Introduction==

I first had this one when visiting Belching Beaver while visiting San Diego. Having first enjoyed the peanut butter milk stout, I was sold on them to try much much more. They had the Horchata on tap as well as the Coconut Milk stout and the awesome Me So Honey beer. When trying the Great Lei, it seemed pretty good on tap but I did not really analyze it as I was most likely drunk and sold from the other beers there. Now that they released it to the market, all bets are off and it is time to review this and see just how this beer stands when I take my time with it. An honor to bring their beers to the table here at animebeers.com Cheers!

Aromas:
Good amount of tropics like Pineapple, toasted coconut, rum hints, dragon fruit, passion fruit, lychee, citrus, mango, guava, papaya, honey dew melon, mandarin oranges, vanilla, grapefruit, piney, grassy and citrus hops, tangerine gummi bears, prickly pears, Sweetened condensed milk, toffee, flan, Cocada Mexican Coconut candy, Strawberries, cherries, raspberries and biscuit bread.

Flavors:
Rich Pineapple, Malibu rum hints, toasted coconut, Sweetened condensed milk, toffee, flan, Cocada Mexican Coconut candy, Strawberries, cherries, raspberries, exotic dragon fruit, passion fruit, lychee, citrus, mango, guava, papaya, honey dew melon, mandarin oranges, tangerine gummi bears, prickly pears, vanilla, grapefruit, piney, grassy and citrus hops, biscuit bread, sangria and blue curacao hints.

Aftertaste:
Pineapple, grapefruit, grassy hops, vanilla, sweetened condensed milk, coconut, exotic fruits and toffee. No alcohol in the taste, Gold light to medium body, creamy, crisp, refreshing and chewy mouthfeel and easy to drink.

Overall:
The best beer of the summer! Or at least way better than I have ever had if from the tap. That begs the question, is it better because I took my time to analyze it or was I just too buzzed at the brewery to realize its greatness? Either way, a second time or even third times a charm. This beer is definitely worth having many many times and is an extremely well made IPA. I need to find this again!

Anime Corner:
Vocaloid Hatsune Miku was used in this pairing as I liked her tropical design in this with the whole pineapple and being at the beach. The colors paired nice and the fruit cocktail on a summer vacation getaway was definitely what triggered the feels in this pairing. Such a great pairing for such a refreshing and tropical IPA.

Just in time for spring, although this is a year-round beer, I wanted to bring this forth this time around as I have not reviewed the beer here on the site in the past. The first time I tried this beer was when I was on my way to San Diego and stopped by Belching Beaver brewing. They had awesome beers like my favorite, the peanut butter milk stout, the horchata milk stout and their new one, coconut milk stout which I hope will one day be released to the public in bottles or even growlers. When I first tried it, I was amazed. They really got the rich honey flavors to pop and so when I saw it at the store, I said, screw it, I am bringing it to the site. So let’s take a close look at the bee knees here. Cheers!

Aromas:
Rich honey, biscuit bread, vanilla, floral and grassy hops, cream of what, coriander spice, caramel hints, graham crackers, hazelnut hints, citrus, oranges, stone fruit peach hints, cereal grains, wheat bread, orange peel and cane sugar hints.

Flavors:
Lots of rich honey flavors, vanilla, biscuit bread, floral notes, coriander spices, caramel notes, creamy of wheat, orange peel, pie crust, flan hints, hazelnut nectar hints, graham crackers, grassy and floral hops, stone fruit peach and apricot hints and very mild tropical notes.

Aftertaste:
Rich Honey lingers along with graham cracker notes, floral notes, vanilla, caramel hints and stone fruit hints. No alcohol in the taste, crisp, refreshing and smooth mouthfeel, very drinkable and light to hazy gold body.

Overall:
A very good ale with rich honey notes. Needless to say, it is not the best honey beer as I give that to the Belgian beer Bieken which I had long ago. However, it is the best specific honey flavored ale that is the most drinkable and was the riches specifically with honey. For that, I think it is very awesome and definitely would recommend the seek. It is not overwhelming and is very pleasing to many palates.

Anime Corner:
Q-Bee from Darkstalkers/Vampire Savior was used in this pairing to go with the name of the beer and flavors that come with being a sexy honey bee! She is very sexy and the way she looks at the viewer with the honey is very seductive and suggests that she really wants that honey and more! What a perfect and honey sweet pairing we have here.

Horchata Imperial Stout by Belching Beaver

983819_10102186516689990_4052395402836735020_nRating: 6/5

Horchata Imperial Stout by Belching Beaver is a 9% ABV Imperial Milk Stout brewed with Horchata flavors.

Label:
Hecho En Vista , CA.

Made for our 2nd anniversary beer. Our Horchata Imperial Milk Stout is a salute to our over the border brothers who are making some fine craft beer. One of our brewers “Ivan the Terrible” lives in TJ and commutes to start his shift here at 2:00AM. He is also in charge of making our casks. When he made this Horchata with our own Milk Stout, we thought it was fantastic. Troy brewed it as an Imperial Stout and we just love it. Thought you might too. Notes of Coffee, Chocolate and Cinnamon.

Belching Beaver has been making some crazy and delicious beers starting with the Peanut Butter Milk Stout. That beer is possibly one of the best Peanut butter beers ever. This time, they released an Horchata one and and to be honest, this just sounds way too good to be true. Even far fewer are there any Horchata beers out there and all the ones I have tried are very delicious. So let us see how this version does. Salud!

Aromas:
Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, chocolate abuelita, mocha, churros, milk sugar, rice pudding, dark fruit raisins, cherries, brown sugar, molasses, dulce de lecher caramel, toffee, ginger bread cookies, flan, pecan pie, almond milk, earthy notes, Kahlua, hazelnut, molasses, mint, anise and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.

Flavors:
Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate abuelita, Rich Horchata notes, chocolate churros, Dark fruit raisins, cherries, vanilla, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, mocha, chocolate mousse, chocolate truffles, roasted coffee, flan, sweetened condensed milk lechera, capirotada raisin bread pudding, rice pudding, tapioca, Khalua, anise, molasses, chocolate cherries, toffee, milk sugar, ginger bread, almond milk, pecan pie, burnt sugar, hazelnut, brown sugar and rock candy.

Aftertaste:
Horchata, milk sugar, cinnamon, rice pudding, chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, mocha, roasty notes and earthy notes. No alcohol in the taste, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, should be a sipper but drinks way too easy, full black body.

Overall:
Damn… just simply damn… So much Horchata and chocolate flavors here and the crazy part is that it drinks very smooth too since it is still a milk stout. The crazy thing is that it is crafted as an imperial so you really cannot tell the alcohol even though it is heavy. Definitely exceeding my expectations and being one of the best close to Horchata beers just like the other great Horchata beers I have tried before.

Anime Corner:
Sai Hinoki from Betterman was used in this pairing since hair colors pair with the colors of the label and the Mexican flag. Also, there is a version out there of Horchata that is made in Oaxaca called Horchata con Tuna y Nuez and the colors make the Horchata have a pink layer and the nuez is the walnuts. Adding fruit makes it like an Horchata cocktail. So that fits the flavors of the beer somewhat and the hair color as well. The fact that she is next to some kind of ancient ruin holding some kind of gem represents the indigenous roots of the beverage in terms of the ancient civilization, the label’s animal on the flag and the fact that this dessert is a rich treasure just like that gem she holds.

Peanut Butter Milk Stout by Belching Beaver Brewery is a 5.3% ABV Milk/Sweet Stout brewed with peanut butter flavors

Label:
It’s All about the Beaver

Belching Beaver Brewery’s Peanut Butter Milk Stout. Feel Free to use it for Ice Cream floats. We made this beer for fun, and it has become a local favorite. So we thought, may as well bottle some. This beer says, even hard working Beavers can play around once in a while. We hope you love it too. If you do, let us know on Facebook if you don’t, call Troy directly and tell him. His head is getting just a little too big around the brew pad anyway.

This beer is refreshingly smooth. Tastes if roasted coffee, chocolate and peanut butter. Brewed with rolled pats and lactose, this beer has a silky smooth mouth feel finish. Don’t let the color fool you; this dark beer is easy drinking

Cheers,

Tom

As requested by my friend Oscar, I had to bring this one forth to the site. There have been very few peanut butter beers except for the awesome cocoa crispies tasting peanut butter cup porter from Karl Strauss or the the liquid bliss from Terrapin that I conciser awesome. I figure that getting this one is a good opportunity to bring forth another rare piece of craft brew recipe forward. Thanks for the beers Oscar 😀

Aromas:
Damn good peanut butter Reese’s butter cup aromas, dark chocolate, Milk chocolate, vanilla, peanut brittle, rye bread, mocha coffee, nutter butter peanut butter cookies, milk sugar, caramel, toffee and mild earthy notes

Flavors:
Lots of roasted peanuts with shells, peanut butter, nutter butter cookies, toffee, roasted coffee, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, earthy hops, Reese’s peanut butter puffs cereal, buttered rye toast notes, lactose milk sugar, and molasses

Aftertaste:
Peanut butter, rye hints, earthy hops and coffee notes linger. Nice a smooth, easy drinking and no alcohol in the taste.

Overall:
Great beer! Even if only 5.3% ABV, it set to what is supposed to do, taste like peanut butter and coffee bitterness for balance. Despite the fact that it says natural flavors or Ethyl alcohol (which created upon fermentation), do not believe the the artificiality. There is nothing artificial about this beer. It is craft brewed to perfection, set out to what it was intended, and that is rich dark roasty peanut butter and chocolate coffee flavors. Highly recommended. This one really is closer to peanut butter than the other other beers I have tried.

Anime Corner:
Makoto Nanaya from Blazblue was paired perfectly with this beer because not only did I want to show the label colors, but she is a nutty girl. She may not be a beaver, but she is a squirrel and squirrels love nuts. You can see how she tears up pine cones like she tears up nuts. Either way, with the rich flavors of peanut butter that are given from this beer, I couldn’t think of any other awesome characters to pair this beer with.
