Homebrew Project #33 6 To Midnight Coffee & Cream by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 10% ABV Imperial Cream Ale brewed with Blood Lord Coffee Beans by Dark Matter Coffee, Vanilla Beans and Lactose. 

Homebrewed for my friends Cesar Molina & Jeanette De La Luz wedding on 9/3/2017.

The special project was brewed in collaboration with my friend Oscar Pacheco and Cesar Molina with an inspiration to the Coffee and Cream Ale we had tried on our many trips to the Tijuana B.C. Craft Beer Scene in Mexico. For the special occasion of his wedding, Julio/Cesar entrusted me to come up with an original recipe that would be a cream ale with coffee similar the Coffee and Cream. The recipe was something I had not brewed before and would become one that was created by us. Starting with an Imperial Cream Ale recipe, I started by envisioning what would be the cream side or additional cream. That’s when I brought up the lactose addition. Vanilla would add an enticing sweetness which was provided by Oscar in which we aged in Maker’s Mark 46 Bourbon for a month before added to the finished product. We also went through a collection of many of my favorite Dark Matter Coffee beans like the Big Hugs and Unicorn Blood Coffees until Julio decided to use the Blood Lord coffee. It was the same coffee they made by aging the beans in Barrels that once contained 3 Floyds Dark Lord Imperial Stout. The very same bourbon barrel aged coffee I used in my previous iteration (Home brew Project #29 SangriLeche Chapter: 2 – Hey You, Wanna Buy Some ChocoW00tCherries?!!?) which used w00tstout as the inspiration. 

Moving on, the beer was a major success showcasing many of the rich flavors from the original Coffee and Cream Ale, but at a higher ABV and more flavor intense profile ranging from Coffee, Vanilla, sugar cream, oak notes, stone fruit, dark fruits, creme brulee, flan, tiramsu and much much more. The beer was such as hit that it was the first to run out at the wedding despite being the higher in alcohol content. It was definitely a victorious moment in homebrewing collaboration for me and my friends and something that I’m sure Julio and Janette will never forget. Surely though, I will have to brew it again!

Hawaiian Hazelnut Coffee Milk Stout by Brew Rebellion is a 7.8% ABV Milk / Sweet Stout brewed with Hawaiian Coffee, Hazelnuts and lactose.

Smooth, creamy, sweet, chocomil! There is some subtle fancy and tropical coffee complex but also herbally. The majority is surely the Nutella hazelnut and chocolate mocha goodness. Such a great zombie monkey beer!

2017 Beer Camp Across the World Raspberry Sundae Ale collaboration with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and The Bruery is an 8%ABV Golden Ale brewed with raspberries, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and lactose.

Description:
Together we’re brewing a riff on the flavors of the classic raspberry ice cream sundae. This beer features raspberry, cocoa and vanilla, in addition to lactose (an unfermentable sugar) that adds a richness and a sweetness, helping to blend and meld the flavors of this ultra-complex beer together. It’s been a true pleasure to work with artists at The Bruery using ingredients and techniques outside of our normal wheelhouse.

Like the Hoarders Cuvee 2016 but light. Major raspberry cream, banana notes and white chocolate. Why is this only made once?!?! Make More!! Needless to say, there needs to be more of this for sure. Great awesome Red Velvet cream beer with Banana and chocolate making it a lot like a banana split.

No Bake Strawberry Cheesecake by The Bruery is a 13.7% ABV Wheat Wine brewed with Strawberries, Lactose and vanilla beans aged in bourbon barrels.

==Introduction==

Gotta admit, the Bruery has been coming out with some of the craziest dessert and delicious experiments ever. Who would of thought that they would of made a strawberry shortcake beer!? Well, actually, it shouldn’t be surprising! At this point, the Bruery can literally make any type of dessert beer it seems and meant it to how it tastes. This was something that was released on tap only as far as I know but yes, it was one I was allowed to bring home to get a good analysis of. So let’s check it out, cheers!

Aromas:
Banana split, strawberries, cherries, biscuit bread, butterscotch, tres leches cake, Danish creak, dark fruits, sweetened condensed milk, Neapolitan ice cream, piloncillo sugar cone, dulce de leche caramel, milk chocolate, toffee, waffle cone, almond joy and toasted coconut.

Flavors:
Rich strawberry cheesecake, white chocolate, Strawberry shortcake, Tres Leches strawberry cake, Banana Split with Strawberries, Strawberry and banana yogurt, toffee, piloncillo sugar cone, Cadbury caramel cream eggs, flan, crème brulee, Danish cream, cookie dough ice cream, vanilla, sugar cookies, sweetened condensed milk, strawberry pound cake, Neapolitan ice cream, Strawberries and cream, Raspberries, pomegranates, dark fruit currants, blueberries, dragon fruit, cherries, marzipan, chocolate truffles, toasted coconut, almond joy, cotton candy and red velvet cake.

Aftertaste:
Finishing with rich strawberries, vanilla, cheesecake, cherry, yogurt, marzipan, white chocolate, flan, bananas and caramel. No alcohol in the taste, super hazy murky peach colored full body, smooth, creamy, refreshing and chewy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Exceptional! Another awesome dessert that feels like liquefying a strawberry shortcake and drinking it. Of course it is amazing and since it uses White Oak as its base, its works super awesomely. In fact, the base was also used in White Chocolate so its no wonder that it has application in making other amazing beers. I absolutely love it. If you get a chance to have this on tap, check it out, I highly recommend it!

Anime Corner:
Junko Enoshima from Danganronpa was chosen in this pairing as I was going for something that would fit with pink strawberry cheesecake. While I already used Sakura Haruno with different Bruery beers as they relate to cherries, I wanted to go with another character that works with this pairing and that is where Junko came in. While I do not know much of the story, I do know that she made the perfect pairing in this beer especially over the flavors and ingredients of this beer.

This collaborative brew with our Floridian friends is a tropical treat, transporting us to a cooler mindset when temperatures start to warm on out respective coasts.

Since our collective exposure to the wet wintry elements is minimal, we at The Bruery® and Funky Buddha decided to create our own version of snow – something pink and tropical -that we can play in as temperatures start to arm. Championing the big, bold flavors our breweries are known for, we brewed an imperial cream ale, then added lactose and vanilla for sweetness, and guava, dragonfruit and coconut for a vibrant, tropical vibe.

==Introduction==

Released to all Bruery societies and the public. Another awesome back to back collaboration with Funky Buddha. This time, they upgraded the Guava Libre recipe adding coconut and dragon fruit. I cannot tell if the base beer is guava libre but regardless it seems like an awesome move. Also, the fact that this is dragon fruit based, I am very excited about this. The beers I have had with dragon fruit have all been awesome and I have even made a dragon fruit beer because I loved the exotic fruit. Who wouldn’t like a cactus fruit in the shape of a fireball. This is truly something very special indeed and the fact that the Bruery collaborated with essentially, East Coast Bruery/ Funky Buddha, it makes that much more sense that this beer would one of the most unique! Let’s have a go, cheers!

Aromas:
Rich guava pastry, coconut, Raspados/shaved ice, sweetened condensed milk, toasted coconut, flan, dragon fruit, passion fruit, pineapple, piloncillo sugar cone, candied apples, Danish cream, stone fruit peaches, mango, strawberries, raspberries and orange creamcicle.

Flavors:
Toasted coconut, vanilla, caramel, sweetened condensed milk, crème brulee, tropical dragon fruit, mango, kiwi, guava, pine apple, passion fruit, flan, crème brulee, strawberry, guava pastry, guava quince/membrillo paste, stone fruit peaches, apricots, grapes, raspberry, pomegranates, cranberry, shaved ice, guava bundt cake, cake frosting, whipped cream, dragon fruit cobbler, peach cobbler, Danish cream, cane sugar, honey dew melon, guava cheesecake, candied apples, guava maize atole, dragon fruit, piloncillo sugar cone, orange creamsicle, Cocada Mexican Coconut candy, dragon fruit and guava yogurt, dragon fruit and guava smoothies.

Aftertaste:
Finshing with Guava Pastry, Dragon fruit cobbler, vanilla, crème brulee, sweetened condensed milk, tropical fruits, stone fruits, grapes, toasted coconut, piña colada and guava quince. No alcohol in the taste, Hazey Rosey Magenta full body, smooth, creamy, crisp, refreshing and velvety mouthfeel and a moderate drinkability.

Overall:
Liquid Raspados! (Shaved Ice) but guava flavored! Essentially, they took Guava Libre and made it even more awesome and it really is. The addition of the coconut and the lactose really gets it much closer to the way raspados are and usually they add sweetened condensed milk to enhance the flavor and that is what this is. This collaboration really out did itself and if you can find Guava Libre or Pink Snow, make sure to get several bottles. Truly a bucket lister.

Anime Corner:
Birdy Cephon Altera from Birdy The Mighty was used in this pairing for the colors of the label, beer, ingredients and flavors. Since I have not used Birdy for a Bruery review, I brought her for the first time. Birdy is a very powerful character in the Anime series and as such for being an upgrade if Guava Libre, she wears similar out fit to a wrestler in a way. I think she was definitely the one to pair with this beer.

Stone Barrel Aged Milk Chocolate Porter by Stone brewing is a 9.6% ABV Imperial Sweet/Milk Porter brewed with lactose and chocolate aged in Bourbon, Reposado Tequila and Red Wine Barrels.

Description:
Tasting Notes: Malty nose, with lots of chocolate and red wine barrel coming through strong on the aroma. First sip is big red wine barrel again, along with soft malt sweetness, milk chocolate, and tons of vanilla from the bourbon barrel. The tequila barrel comes through mid-palate and on the aftertaste, along with flavors reminiscent of a chocolate covered tart cherry. This is a full bodied, flavorful dessert beer, great for beer lovers who also love chocolate and red wine together!

==Introduction==

Sold only on draft/crowler at this time from the brewery or Stone Stores. I obtained this one when I went to pick up the Stone and Lost Abbey collaboration they did in Berlin from the Stone Pasadena store. While I found this interesting by name, it wasn’t until I found out more about it and tried it that I was sold to get a whole crowler and bring information on what this beer is all about. The fact that it is a triple barrel aged milk porter was definitely something I wanted for sure. The best part sometimes is that Stone doesn’t limit what they have to offer (Not Including the Quingenti Series) when it comes to one offs that are on tap and are typically an awesome treasure that may not hit the public. Few are so lucky but for those I do find, I will try to bring them to the site. Now, let’s have a look, cheers!

Finishing with lots of oak, smokey and funky, rich earthy chocolate, bourbon, tequila, caramel, dark fruits, wine and vanilla. No alcohol in the taste, pitch black body, smooth, creamy and velvety mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Super complex and supremely exceptional beer showcasing notes from all the different barrels that I love beer aged with. The wine oak barrel provides it an overall tartness but works so damn well with the other complex flavors and barrels. It is a mix of sweet and tart with mild smoke and oaky goodness. I hope they release this to the public but for now, I highly recommend this one if you can get it on tap at Stone or one of their Stone Stores.

Anime Corner:
Krystal Fox from Star Fox was used in this pairing mainly for the colors or dark fruits and the dark smoothness. There really wasn’t too much else other that I really wanted to pair such an awesome rare beer with my favorite Star Fox vixen. Like the Sangrileche beer I made in the past, this beer is as dark as space!

Here’s a pick me up for the latest verse in our Twelve Days of Christmas series. Inspired by flavors and ingredients found in tiramisu, including ladyfingers, 9 Ladies Dancing mimics the Italian dessert by whipping together flavor combinations and layers of its own. This includes notes of vanilla, chocolate and coffee – clearly the leading ladies in this rich, dessert-like beer.

The Bruery has recently released their latest Christmas beer to the public and should be hitting many distribution areas publicly where they sell The Bruery beers. An Italian dessert inspired beer huh? I still can’t believe it has been so long and in four more years, the Christmas beer saga comes to a conclusion. Every year they release amazing beers. What I find intriguing though is that they use some of the ingredients that I used in my Sangri Leche beer. These are the Lactose, Coffee, Vanilla and Cocoa Nibs. Plus, it’s a Belgian Dark Strong so that makes me think about the flavors. But why wait, let’s see how it is, cheers!

Overall:
Very Exceptional brew! I can honestly say this did remind me of 2 creations I made. The Bubulubu Ghost In the White Choco Shell which was a Belgian Golden stout with the same ingredients as this one as well as the partial ingredients used in Sangrileche Belgian Stout. Using Coffee, Vanilla and Cocoa nibs does come through when used well and can make many beers even more decadent and complex. Which makes me believe that it may add the necessary complexity or in some cases dominate the flavors of the rest of the beers. In this instances, it balanced out made for one awesome complexity. Definitely get this holiday brew, cheers!

Anime Corner:
Naruto Girls, Mahou Shojo girls and Overwatch girls were all chosen for this pairing to essentially be the 9 ladies dancing. Every year I try to find pairings that match the number of gifts from the Christmas song. It is does get difficult at times but other than going with the theme, there really isn’t anything else specific that matches the pairing unless you can infer some of the colors do match.

We play with nuts and BBLs in this winning blend of barrel-aged beers. Designed to mimic the flavors of rocky road, this mélange took top place in our 2016 staff blending competition.

Our Mélange series is a playground for exploring flavors that cannot be achieved outside of the art of the blend or by any one beer. We had a particularly good time playing with nuts and BBLs in this winning blend of barrel-aged beers from our 2016 staff blending competition. Fueled by cheeseburgers and inspired by rocky road, we folded walnuts, cacao nibs from TCHO and vanilla into rich, bourbon barrel-aged barleywine and old ale to mimic the flavors of the rich, nutty dessert. Lactose was added to impart a marshmallow character and an extra creamy mouthfeel. We’re pretty nuts about it, and we think you will be too.

Released to the public and all societies, this the first time since Mélange 3, that a Mélange series beer is released outside of the societies. What an awesome release at that. Knowing the Mélange series pretty well, they are some of the best beers the Bruery has ever released. With this one being liquid Rocky Road Ice Cream in a bottle, I can only say that this is going to be gold. How can I say that without trying it? Well, my track record for reviewing these Mélange beers has shown that they keep pushing the bar with every release and I can only push so far up the bucket list. Yes, indeed, even before I review this one, I can safely say, it is going to be a bucket lister. The best part, now the public can get their hands on as many bottles as they can. Let’s delve into this shall we? Cheers!

Lots of Rich chococaramellow nuts and Nutella remain, walnuts, dark chocolate, marshmallows, dark fruits, Danish cream, flan, bananas, clove spice, smores and sweetened condensed milk over rocky road ice cream. No alcohol in the taste despite the high ABV. Dark Crimson medium to full body, smooth, creamy, chewy, syrupy and velvety mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Definitely without question, this is a major bucket lister. Since Mélange 12, I have not seen any other one top it and I honestly thing this one definitely tops that one even though the 12th was my favorite followed by the 3rd. This one just speak volumes and volumes. Like pieces of the best Black Tuesday variants like Chocolate Rain and Grey Monday are here. If you have a self-indulgence, guilty pleasure or a problem when it comes to something like Nutella or Rocky Road Ice Cream, this beer may be your devil’s water. But you know, you really have to take it all in sometimes and enjoy yourself once and awhile. Go get this bottle barrel aged and dessert beer lovers. Do it before it is gone!! You will not regret it!!!

Anime Corner:
Claire “Lightning” Farron from Final Fantasy XIII was used in this pairing to mainly go with the rich flavors of the beer although some of her colors do match with the colors of the beer. It has been a long time coming and I wanted to use Lightning in a Bruery beer but deciding which one was definitely the challenge. I wanted to choose a special occasion for a worthy beer pairing and now that I have seen what this is capable of, I set my eyes on her for this beer. A bad ass beer definitely deserves a bad ass character and art pairing.

Nuckin’ Futz by Track Seven brewing is a 7.3% ABV Imperial Peanut Butter Chocolate Cream Porter brewed with lactose, chocolate and peanut butter.

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This creamy and crazy ale takes our Burnt Fog Smoked Porter recipe, drops the smoked malt and adds peanut butter, chocolate and lactose sugar. The combination produced a creamy peanut butter cup of a beer fitting of a celebration and capable of easing the winter doldrums. Nukin’ Futz was brewed for our 3rd anniversary on New Year’s Eve but will continue as an occasional release.

==Introduction==

I first tried this beer at the first BeerBumz beer session when I was introduced to the group by my friend Augie Escobedo. We went to his friend’s house and many brought different beers. I brought my home brew which I am glad many loved. Someone had brought this one in and I had remembered so that when I finally saw a bottle of this for sale, I had to get it and bring it to the site. This is the first beer I try from Track Seven in Sacramento and what a great way to start. I will look for their other beers too. Let’s take a look, cheers!

Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, dark fruit raisins, currants, peanut butter, vanilla, marshmallows, peanut butter chocolate smores, lactose milk sugar, Irish cream, walnut pie, praline ice cream, cashew butter notes, candi sugar, chocolate mousse, molasses, chocolate mint, earthy hop notes, Nutter Butter cookies, hazelnut nectar, Reese’s peanut butter cup hints.

Flavors:
Rich Nutter Butter cookies, Hazelnut nectar, Reese’s peanut butter cup, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, peanut brittle, pecan pie, coffee cake, mocha, dark fruit raisins, currants, dark cherry yogurt, vanilla, marshmallows, peanut butter chocolate smores, lactose milk sugar, Irish cream, walnut pie, praline ice cream, Peanut butter Chocolate Truffle turtles, Almond butter, cashew butter notes, candi sugar, chocolate mousse, molasses, chocolate mint, earthy hop notes, Mazapan, fruit cake and chocolate bananas.

Aftertaste:
Finishes with peanut butter chocolate sweetness, dark fruit hints, earthy hop hints, vanilla, smores, and pecan pie hints. No alcohol in the taste, Dark crimson medium body, creamy, velvety, smooth and mild mouthfeel with an easy drinkability.

Overall:
An exceptional, and awesomely delicious brew. Extra credit for this one goes because of the fact that to me, they really hit high marks with this one since I like nutty beers and this one is exactly that, super nutty and chocolatey. That and I was hooked when I first tried it back then. It may not seem like much at first glance but wait till you try it. Definitely give this one a shot and grab a couple!

Anime Corner:
Makoto Nanaya from Blazblue was paired perfectly with this beer because not only did I want to show the label colors, but she is a nutty girl. She is a squirrel and squirrels love nuts. Heck she goes crazy for them. Either way, with the rich flavors of peanut butter that are given from this beer, I couldn’t think of any other awesome characters to pair this beer with.

An Inexplicably Delicious Creation Born at our small Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station brewery, this beer was an instant hit. The tantalizing combination of fresh golden-roasted coffee and pure dark chocolate is undeniably amazing, yet it’s perhaps surprising to find them paired with a hoppy blend of Cascade, Amarillo and Citra. Clearly, style lines have been crossed. Is it half-IPA, half-stout? Not quite. It’s definitely all IPA, but it’s also the best of both styles, making this love child of a beer simply just a pleasure-seeking meld of Imperial IPA and mocha indulgence. How much exceptional, downright awesomeness came to be doesn’t really matter, though. What matters is that it exists and that it’s here for you now, thanks to our deliberate disregard for brewing norms. Some things are not meant to be known, just enjoyed … thoroughly.

==Introduction==

Obtained this one at one of my local shops that sells Stone beers. Sold in a pack, this was damn awesome especially for a beer that is 9% ABV. When I first heard of the Coffee IPA from stone, it reminded me of the Dayman Coffee IPA they brewed in collaboration with Aleman and Two Brothers a couple of years back. This release, however uses Cacao and Lactose. I do not remember if the other had lactose in it but this beer I would think would be probably be closer to coffee. It would be difficult to tell since IPAs don’t age well so I can’t compare. Anyways, let’s see how this one goes. Cheers!

Grapefruit, piney, citrus, floral, grassy and garlicky dank hops, Lactose Milk sugar, coffee, vanilla, biscuit bread, honey, green tea ice cream, tropical fruit mango, dragon fruit, tangerine gummies, pecan pie, sweetened condensed milk, crème brulee, maple, Danish cream and milk chocolate.

Flavors:
Vanilla, Lactose Milk sugar, Mocha, coffee, Java, milk chocolate, Yohoo Chocolate drink, Grapefruit, piney, citrus, floral, grassy and garlicky dank hops, green tea ice cream, biscuit bread, honey, tropical fruit mango, dragon fruit, tangerine gummies, dulce de leche caramel, flan, sweetened condensed milk, crème brulee, maple, Danish cream, cookies and cream, Jamoca ice cream, rocky road ice cream, pecan pie, rye bread and hazelnut.

Aftertaste:
Finishes with notes of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, lactose milk sugar, citrus and earthy notes. No alcohol in the taste, Honey amber clear body, smooth, creamy, crisp and refreshing mouthfeel and very easy to drink.

Overall:
Phenomenal beer. It is interesting how the combination of a normally hoppy, citrucy and bitter aspects of an IPA can actually work very well with the flavors of coffee and vanilla sweetness. It creates something that is very unique and delicious. It is almost like a coffee pale gold stout but mixed with an IPA which is definitely mind blowing. I would definitely recommend this one for those that love Coffee and vanilla stouts but also love IPAs. High recommendation.

Anime Corner:
C.C. from Code Geasse was used in this brew to not only pair with the colors of the label but also it is a tribute to when I first reviewed the Dayman IPA back then. So seeing as this one take the place of the older beer, it was fitting to bring her back to represent this beer.

I obtained this brew at craftshack.com. I have previously tried Mikkeller’s Raspberry Tripplebock but when I saw they made a Raspberry Belgian Quadrupel, I had to get it. I do have a crazy sweet tooth for these types of fruit beers especially raspberries. While still in a small bottle like the other one, it is a very strong ABV wise beer. Belgian Quads are my favorite style of beer along with the barrel aged beers. So I think if this is awesome, I might actually consider using fruit in some future Quadrupel homebrews. Let’s see how this beer is.

Aftertaste:

Finishing with a rich tart and sweet raspberry marmalade, complex dark fruits, stone fruits, dulce de leche caramel, brandy, oak, chocolate, candi sugar, pecan pie, clove hints and bananas. Slight boozyness in the taste not detracting from the flavors of the beer. Dark brown full body, syrupy, smooth and velvety mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.

Overall:

Reminiscent of one of my favorite raspberry beers, Dogfish Head Forte, this is definitely up there with one of the best raspberry beers I have ever had. From the Ragging Passion Lactus Raspear Dragons I made to even the basic Raspberry brown I have had, the use of Raspberries in a quad and especially made with Mikkeller brewing processes, it makes this beer super ridiculously awesome. Now if this was ever barrel aged, it would have to become a bucket lister as it is already going into that bucket lister category anyways. I definitely will recommend you try this one if you love fruit beers and Belgian Quadrupels.

Anime Corner:

Jinx from Teen Titans was used in this pairing as I wanted to go with the colors of raspberry but also the whole aspect of cloaks as it relates to both monks and witches. Quads are mainly a Belgian Abbey or Trappist monk beers but even since the origins of beer, witches have been the ones making beer since the old days. Anyways, I figure since Jinx kind has that witch look about her, she was perfect to go with this beer pairing in my mind.

2015 Caribbean Chocolate Cake collaboration by Siren Craft Brew and Cigar City is a 7.4% ABV Tropical Imperial stout with cocoa nibs, lactose and aged on Cypress Wood.

Label:
The return of an outrageous collaboration with Cigar City, this is a dense, rich and luxurious stout. Hand-roasted cacao nibs from the USA give hints of tamarind and soft lemon. The malt provides coffee and roast notes in abundance, while the experimental OCC hop variety offers orange, chocolate and coconut flavours. Ageing on Cypress Wood is the icing on the cake. Pure bottled indulgence.

Got this brew from craftshack.com. At the time I was not too interested in it but they were having a sales and it was a good opportunity to get some of the other brews I wanted to buy so I included it in my purchase. Though it is a little bottle, a collaboration with Cigar City has yet to let me down. That and the ingredients being used in this brew made me want to try it even more. Ofcourse, this being such a small bottle, I will have to take all the time in the world for this. Enough of the babble, on to the beverage, Cheers!

Aftertaste:
Leaving with some rich tropical and chocolate soaked dark fruits, coffee, caramel and vanilla. No alcohol in the tasted. Dark as night full body, smoth, rich, creamy and velvety mouthfeel and moderate drinkability.

Overall:
A very exceptional little bottle. What can I say, the whole tropical chocolate fruits was definitely something very prominent to his brew. How this was done with the cypress wood? I have no idea. While I really wish they could have made this into a 22oz. bottle instead, I think for what it is, it is still a great buy even if it was around 8$. Sometimes it is not the price but what it is you are drinking that determines that is great. With that being said, now I want to brew something like this in the future. With the way my current homebrews have been going, Inspirations like this can make for truly godly creations.

Anime Corner:
Ignis from Jingai Makyou was used in this pairing as I wanted to pair with the colors of the labels with the dark colors and the flowers. It also pairs well with the coffee, chocolate and tropical fruits this beer has. I still don’t know how the cypress wood combination of lactose and cocoa nibs got so much tropical notes out of the beer but I guess only the future will tell. Ignis sitting down relaxing reminds me of just relaxing, take a step back and have some tropical stout!

Raging Passion Lactus Raspear Dragons by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 10% ABV Imperial Milk Stout brewed with Raspberries, Passion Fruit, Dragon Fruit and Red Prickly Pear Tunas Oak aged in Dragon’s Milk Beer Barrel Bourbon.

Label:
Deep within the womb of time, a Dragoness thus be born and thus the tale is told. Upon an age old icy
crystal mountain, was home to the kind and magical dragoness who’s torment of being the last of her kind could not be comforted. The people feared her. The fanatics adored her, The kingdoms wished for her destruction. Until one day, something had happened.

The kingdoms faced demise from a natural disaster. A meteor crashed on the mountain causing a large
avalanche. While the Dragoness did manage to escape, she used her powers and melted the avalanche thus saving the kingdoms. The people had finally accepted her as one of their own and she became a legend. In honor of that day, the liquid water that trickled down the land from the melted ice, the milky fluid of the meteor mixed with her collection of exotic ingredients burnt by her flames during the
rescue, along with the burnt trees gave birth to this magic potion. In Honor of the new Dragoness Knight, All Hail the Dragoness, Her story will live on forever!

Project# 15 unleashes the dragons! This epitome of a beer is centered on dragons! Lots and lots of dragons. From the fruits, the milk, the bourbon and the alcohol. Dragons… Dragons everywhere! My inspiration for this brew came from the fact that I started really liking Raspberry stouts. Especially the Dragon’s Milk Reserve with Raspberries from New Holland. So when I had the idea, hmmm I should make a beer about dragons…. wait!!! That’s when it hit me, I will make one with some exotic Dragon fruit. I also wanted some passion fruit to go with it too and my friend Alex Bahamaca was able to inspire me since I remembered how good actual passion fruits were from his passion fruit tree. The Dragon fruit I was able to get from an Asian Market and thanks to my brother Martin and his wife Elly I knew what I had to do. Using the original bourbon I used from Sangri Leche, the Dragon’s Milk Bourbon which was New Holland’s Bourbon made from a barrel that used to age Dragons Milk Stout, it was only the perfect addon to my dragon’s milk themed beer. Aged one month in the fruit and a week in oak that was sitting for 2 months, now the beer is carbonated, it is time to see what my creation has spawned. Cheers!

Aftertaste:
Finishing rich in raspberries and lots of oak, dark fruit, vanilla, caramel, dark cherries, dark chocolate, and wine notes. Deep Dark Bloody Crimson Full Body, very smooth, creamy, rich and velvety mouthfeel and easy to moderate drinkability.

Overall:
An exceptional brew that packs a punch of fruitiness. While I know the oak was a bit much, the fact that I added Sooooo much fruit may have cut down a bit of the Stouty characteristics. Despite that, it is still a milk stout and I think the oakiness fades as the beer is warmers. I think people that like oaky and fruity stouts will love this one. The Bourbon did not come as strong as I had hoped it would but that is okay as the original Dragon’s Milk has only notes of it as well. I was supremely happy with this one. So much like the Sangri Leche that I figure was my best beer. This one being my second best. I really do surprise myself sometimes and I am glad friends and family love these beers. One day, I would love to make beers for the masses. Only time will tell…

Anime Corner:
Yoko Littner from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan was used in this pairing as I was looking for a reason to make a beer with her as the theme. Her red hair paired so well with a raspberry, red tuna and dragon fruit beer that I had to add her. The only problem was, aside from her fiery hair and tank top and possibly the skull, there really wasn’t anything else I could add to the beer that would say dragon. That is until… I found the awesome artwork with Yoko in Dark Knight Dragon Armor. I was like, HOLY SHIT!!!! it was meant to be… I was meant to brew an awesome beer about dragons and using this artwork, all the hardwork would come to fruition. So it did! I still added the original Yoko and an awesome version of Yoko with the glasses and the little pet Pig-Mole Boota as a nice finishing touch. I am sure many will come to appreciate it.

Bubulubu Ghost In the White Choco Shell by Nubis Sanctum Ales is a 7% ABV Imperial Belgian Golden Stout brewed with cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, lactose, candi sugar and Unicorn Blood Coffee.

Partial base wort was brewed using brewing equipment at Monkish for the “Monster Home brew Event” back in June 2015. The idea was to create a base pale wort using the equipment at Monkish brewing. Each person would get 5 gallons (or 10 or more depending on how much you would pay) from this concoction you would take it home add to the wort to change the style completely to more than 10 different styles of beer. I purchased 10 gallons and for the first 5 decided to go with a style that is super rare but super delicious and that was the Gold Stout. However, adding my own spin to things and creating a Belgian Golden Milk stout was definitely the key. With all the sweetness in play and complex ingredients, I was sure to maybe get something like a Golden Stout or Ghost Stout as I like to call it because looks can be very deceiving to the taste. So here is my take at the first White Chocolate Stout beer, cheers!

Aromas:
Coffee notes, caramel, peanut butter hints, Milk chocolate,white chocolate notes, vanilla, flan hints, honey, honey dew melon, pecan pie notes, white grape notes, banana notes, clove spice, maple syrup, toffee, butterscotch hints, candy sugar, agave syrup hints, marshmallow, stone fruit peaches, apricot, apple notes, herbal tea hints, milk sugar and slight coconut.

Flavors:
Vanilla, Irish Cream, Coffee notes, caramel, peanut butter hints, Milk chocolate,white chocolate notes, flan hints, honey, coconut hints, marshmallow, stone fruit peaches, apricot, apple notes, herbal tea hints, milk sugar, honey dew melon, pecan pie notes, white grape notes, banana notes, clove spice, maple syrup, toffee, butterscotch hints, candy sugar, agave syrup hints, biscuit bread and raspberry notes.

Aftertaste:
Belgian bready notes, vanilla, stone fruit hints, chocolate, caramel, milk sugar, earthy notes and slight berry notes. No alcohol in the taste, Clear Golden body, creamy, smooth, silky, velvety and mellow mouthfeel with a easy to moderate drinkability.

Overall:
A very delicious first attempt at a clear Golden Stout seems to be a great success. It is clear, it is easy to drink, not too overwhelming or strong and a variety of delicious flavors. My only complaint would be that the carbonation was not where I wanted it to be, the flavors are more toward a Golden ale and minorly a Golden Stout. Either way, that is most likely nit picky but a great learning experience.

Anime Corner:
Tia Harribel from Bleach was used in this pairing to be the firs in the Monster Brew Theme. The monster I went with is a Ghost and in a Shell at that. She is not Motoko Kusanagi but let me explain. You see, under here beautiful exterior of golden locks and soft dark skin which represents the color of the beer and flavors, underneath, she is all bones. Meaning her skin is like a shell of chocolate. The name Bubulubu derives from the Mexican candy with the same name. A marshmallow chocolate and raspberry treat but it also means Ghost. Like Boo!! Boo!! Lubu! Essentially. So Tia was the closest I can come up with. Why use the name of gold like the locks of her hair? Easy, as I explained earlier about Golden Stouts defying perception because the true identity is in the flavor, it is easy to see why her outer exterior is as deceiving as the true flavor which is the ghost or skeleton in side her white chocolate exterior is what truly hides the purpose. That and the fact that I used Unicorns Blood Coffee so that just adds to the whole creepy aspect of Ghosts and beers!

==Introduction==

We make one more stop in the latest shipment from my good friend Aaron of beermetaldude.com who sent me this beer made by 903 brewers of Sherman Texas. Maybe the best for last but definitely not the least. Fine and awesome brews come in small batches made by local brewers who believe and love their community. A lot of passion and work goes into what they create so I believe even for trying beers from a new brewer such as is always an honor. Overall:
A very good and Very Rich chocolatey beer indeed! Lots of great flavors in this one that really remind me a lot of another certain Yeti beer lol. Either way, I really love the smoothness of this one and really can find myself just picking this up as an extra if I can’t find any other good beer. A recommend for sure and special thanks to my friend Aaron once again for sharing some more awesome Texas brews.

Anime Corner:
Aisha Clan-Clan from Outlaw Star was chosen in this beer pairing as I wanted to pair with an anime girl that sort of had some colors of the forest and the yeti. Yes, I may have looked to outer space for some answers but the fact that I chose Aisha also explains why I think she is the yeti in this one. She has supernatural powers that enhances all her senses and strength so she can devastate anything like a true beast! But yet she seems so damn cute and cuddly like she wouldn’t hurt a fly and that is where the easy going flavors of the beer come in.

This time a beer that is not readily available here in California. This beer comes from Urban Family brewing of Seattle Washington and my friend Aaron was able to donate this great beer in exchange for some very nice California brews and some Whalez of the Craft Beer Oceans. Yes, we fish for the best of the catch. This beer, just by the name seems like a great catch in it self. Death to Cereal is like saying Fuck your Cereal, have a Beer for breakfast. Overall:
Santo Cafe Con Leche! Amazing how they keep this beer so rich and full of flavor for only a low ABV. This is damn worthy of recognition! Something like this should be distributed everywhere and all the cereal aisles along with cocoa crispies the likes of Count Chocula cereal. The coffee and milk and the recipe of the beer over all brings about some rich delicious breakfast stout flavors that are definitely worth the trouble to get this beer. I highly recommend this one and thanks to my friend Aaron for hooking me up with this delicious beer. Cheers sir!

Anime Corner:
Original Ant/Bee girl by Houtengeki was used in this pairing as I wanted to pair something that reminded me of cereal like the little bee from honey nut cheerios. Although, the difference between that bee and this bee is she is more of a killer beer which pairs perfectly with the beer since her outfit matches the label, she has a little skull on her chest and she is sticking her tongue out like she saying, you drink this beer, you dead! Well, not really, but certainly I would want to keep drinking several of these and in that sense, probably dangerous. Remember, these trix are not for kids and certainly require more responsibility to have balanced breakfast.

Provided to me from my Texan friend, Aaron Mendiola of www.beermetaldude.com. This beer was something I really wanted to try out from the moment he showed me the bottle. I did not know what it entailed aside from the name it looked really good. Now that I have it, I was kind of blown away by how much goes into this one. I have never had anything from Armadillo Ale Works but I can only hope this is as awesome as it sounds. Let’s give it a try and see how it goes. Cheers!

Lots of sweet maple syrup, milk sugar, vanilla, caramel, dark fruit, white chocolate, fancy coffee, toffee, flan, chocolate notes, pancake bread, flan, and other rich sweets linger for a bit. No alcohol in the taste, syrupy, silky and creamy mouthfeel, moderate to sipping drinkability and an amber to golden honey body.

Overall:
This beer is a literal breakfast in a bottle. There is so much rich goodness going on with this white stout. Many of the White Stouts I have tried have been some of the best beers and I have yet to find one that I did not like. This one was on par with some of the best dessert beers I have ever had and really wish I could have it again. Texas has liquid gold with this one and is one of the best I have had from there. Definitely would like to try other Armadillow Alework beers.

Anime Corner:
Original character by Ninomoto was paired with this beer to go with the label as well as the variety of flavors that this beer has to provide. It goes with the description of waking up to have the morning breakfast. There is so much going on in this beer that the delicious dessert/breakfast artwork would go great with this one. It is so good that you can sleep on it and wake up the next morning to have it again.

The Temptress by Lakewood Brewing is a 9.1% ABV Imperial Milk Stout brewed with lactose sugar and vanilla.

Label:
Va-va-voom! Our Temptress is seduction in a glass. Curvy in all the right places, this Imperial Milk Stout pours with a thick, milk chocolate head. Chocolate and caramel malt give it a rich and complex body while the lower carbonation gives the beer a silky mouth feel. She’s voluptuous, with a soft alcohol warmth that grows deeper with every sip. Take your time with her and she’ll reward you.

Up next is the Temptress which was given to me by my great friend Aaron Mendiola of www.beermetaldude.com. Milk Stouts can be some of the best beers ever when done right. I have had many Milk stouts and many like Smoglifter are really guilty pleasures as they are a dessert in a bottle. For being 9% ABV, this could get messy but delicious, so come join me as we take a look at the Temptress. Cheers!

Finishing sweet with mocha, vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, milk sugar and earthy roasted notes. No alcohol in the taste, creamy, silky and smooth mouthfeel, easy to drink despite the ABV and pitch black body.

Overall:
One of the perfect examples of a milk stout that is so damn good, it truly is a guilty pleasure!! The balance, complex flavors and drinkability is ridiculous. Texas has really brought out some of the best craft beers the industry has to offer and having a great friend like Aaron to hook me up with something like this is amazing. I hope to some day see some of these beers in California. I highly recommend this one and would get several if I had the chance.

Anime Corner:
Seras Victoria and Alucard from Hellsing were chosen for this pairing since I wanted to pair the name of the beer, the temptress and the fact that this beer is a guilty and sinful pleasure. So it works with the whole seduction by Seras onto Alucard. This beer is also evil as it is smooth and easy to drink despite the ABV. Finishing several of these 12 ouncers will do you in and mess you up like a succubus/incubus. It is like saying Leading into Temptation and Delivering into Evil.

Key Lime Pie by Short’s Brewing

Key Lime Pie by Short’s Brewing is a 5.75%ABV Fruit beer made with marshmallows and lactose with lime and graham crackers added.

Description:
Made with fresh limes, milk sugar, graham cracker, and marshmallow fluff, we were able to recreate this popular dessert into a heavenly drinkable version. The prominent flavors are immensely sweet, yet tart, with subtle hints of graham cracker coming through in the nose and remain on the back of the palate. A Gold Medal Winner at the 2010 GABF.

This is another one of those strange what if beers. It is essentially a beer with lime, marshmallow and graham cracker flavors. Upon opening the beer there was a rush of sweet Mike hard lime scent to the nose. There was also this caramel, sugary, cinnamon, graham cracker, citrus, mint, and vanilla. The flavors are of lemon and lime tart, lemon meringue, caramel , some pie crust , graham cracker, sour grape or boysenberry cobbler, almost like a muddy cookie, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and coffee bread notes, spicy marshmallow smores without the chocolate. This beer is like a pumpkin beer would bee if they used limes instead of pumpkins. While it is very tasty and delicious, it is a rather strange beer but also incredibly unique. Nothing I ever tasted was way different than this. Even El Murcielago which was a Tequila Barrel Aged beer which was very unique in its own way was nothing like this one. It is not a style that would probably be seen in many places and kind of hard to get. I actually was able to get a bottle of this online as it is very limited unless you live in Michigan possibly. Overall very unique and very delicious but very different, in a good way.
