HA! HA! by El Segundo brewing is a 7.4% ABV India Pale Ale brewed and dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin Hops.
Label:
Nelson is quite the “bully” of a hop, always taking center stage. This India Pale Ale showcases the best he has to offer. Now… Stop depriving yourself, and drink up!
==Introduction==
Sometimes breweries make specialty IPAs that are single hopped or single malted. For El Segundo, a pure Nelson Sauvin hopped brew would make sense that they name it after the Simpson’s character, Nelson Muntz and his iconic laugh, HA! HA! It is very catchy and for a beer tribute to the Simpsons, it would only be a matter of time before I would do a review with Simpsons characters on it. Aside from that, Nelson Sauvin hops are a favorite of many hop heads for their aroma and flavors close to Sauvignon Blanc which are the wild green skinned grapes that are grown in many regions for wine, specifically Bordeaux, France. How they got such a cop is amazing. I am a more tropical hop person myself (Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic and Amarillo) but it is always nice to see hops be appreciated for their uniqueness to beers. In fact, I think technically, this would be my first time having a pure Nelson hopped brew. Let’s check it out, cheers!

Overall:
Another perfect IPA from El Segundo Brewing. These guys have never stopped amazing me ever since my first visit and the Power Plant Triple IPA that always blows my mind. That beer to this day is still one of my top favorites and in my mind still continues even through the juice haze craze with East Coast beers. However, this beer really shines with tropical fruits as well and the wild green grapes the hops are named for definitely bleed through in this beer. Very delicious and refreshing. If you are a fan of the Simpsons and IPAs, get this one!
Anime Corner:
Nelson Muntz, Bart Simpson, Michael D’Amico and Marge Simpson from the Simpsons were used in this pairing as the beer is tribute to the Simpsons. I always wanted to use Marge in a beer pairing but never found the opportunity. She definitely pairs well with the label colors. Ofcourse, I also wanted to bring Nelson himself as he is the star this beer is named for even for a Simpsons inspired brew.
