Project #21 was inspired by the need to make different flavored ciders. Just like my previous ciders, I wanted to make a cider using the most basic ingredients to see how good of a cider I can make. Blueberries were a decision partially made by me and my friend Juan who really loves blueberries and wanted a blueberry drink aside from blueberry beer. This is similarly made like the Raspberry cider but instead of raspberry it is using the blueberry flavoring at bottling. Now, let’s see how this one came out. Cheers!

Aromas:
Apple Pie, Blueberries, vanilla, dark fruit notes, stone fruits and cane sugar.

Flavors:
Apple pie notes, cane sugar, blueberries, blueberry muffin, blueberry yogurt, dark cherry, vanilla, honey, stone fruit peach hints, Danish cream, caramel apple, mild strawberry notes, tart sour apple hints, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Aftertaste:
Finishing dry with caramel apple, blueberries, vanilla ice cream on apple pie. No alcohol in the taste despite the ABV, Golden clear body, crips, clean, creamy and refreshing mouthfeel and very easy to drink.

Overall:
This one came out very good, especially on the draft pour. A difference from the Raspberry I can tell for sure is a slight tartness which I can only think is from the blueberry but either way, it is still “berry” delicious. Now the only thing is I have to see what other recipe of cider I can come up with whether I make the simple recipes or I make something more complex by using real fruits like I have with my beers.

Anime Corner:
Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion was used in this pairing to go with the blueberries mainly. The name came about from the scenery of the picture. In the future where Rei is from, the world has been struck by what is called the Near Third Impact where the world is pretty much desolated and destroyed. Living in that world (CyBlues Space) would seem pretty depressing (the Blues) but where there is something so delicate like a flower, it blooms with the spirit of hope. Blooms In CyBlues Space is not only for the blue in Rei’s hair and the colors of blueberries, but also that hope that comes from even the smallest light in the sometimes depressing world. In this case, the cider to me represented yet another glimmer of hope into making even more delicious drinks as I continue my pursuit in the craft beer and cider world.

Crispin 15 men by Crispin Cider Company is a 6.9% ABV Hard Cider brewed with Wild Flower Honey & Dark Candi syrup and then aged in Rum Casks

Label:
On a Dead Man’s Chest

Buccaneers & Buried treasure.
Mutiny & Murder. For the love of adventure and a barrel of rum. Drink and the devil had done for the rest.

An epic saga of Colfax classic apple wine matured in dark rum casks, then laced with wild wildflower honey and dark candi syrup.

15 Men rolls strong like a deep ocean swell with notes of burnt caramel and oak, gentle hints of ripe fall apples, vanilla, and exotic floral fruit carried on the trade winds.

Before pouring, give a solid bottoms-up tilt and swirl to disperse sediment evenly and experience the complex aroma and bouquet.

==Introduction==

It’s been a very long time since I brought a cider from Crispin for review. When I saw this one at Ramirez liquor, I wanted to give it a shot since I feel after creating a cider similar to the Saint, creating something like this maybe awesome. Basically, the inspiration to create a rum barrel/oaked cider will help me gauge how I can do more cider experiments. This one seems very delicious. I am still wondering why the cider is not dark as the dark candi sugars usually leave some liquids dark. Possibly a subtle amount was added as to not dilute the color into darkness! Cheers!

Aromas:
Tropical rum hints, oak, golden apples, marshmallow hints, wild flower honey, waffle cone, floral notes, white raisins, vanilla, cane sugar, candy sugar, dulce de leche caramel, plum hints, peach hints, pecan pie hints and sweetened condensed milk

Flavors:
Crisp Apples, vanilla, cane sugar, candy sugar, dulce de leche caramel, rum hints, oak hints, maple, marshmallow hints, wild flower honey, waffle cone, floral notes, white raisins, plum hints, golden apples, peach hints, pecan pie hints, hazelnut hints, cherries, strawberry hints, coconut hints, bubble gum, banana hints, sweetened condensed milk hints and Danish cream hints.

Aftertaste:
Finishing dry with a nice honey caramel and slight hints of oak and rum hints, candi sugar and white raisins. No alcohol in the taste, clear to medium golden apple body, crisp, clean and refreshing and super easy to drink despite the ABV. Even so, do take your time with it to enjoy its infinite subtleness.

Overall:
Damn delicious and complex little cider. The flavors are not super overwhelming but the hints are super complex which was kind of hard to find but became apparent as the cider became warmer. I think that is why I was able to find this one very delicious. The fact that something like this can be replicated makes me want to brew my own cider in accordance to Crispin’s ingredients. This is how I was able to make a similar yet stronger version of “The Saint”. Definitely give this one a shot if you love ciders.

Anime Corner:
Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles and the original character pirate girl were used in this pairing to pair with the pirate theme of this cider. The colors may correlate to the flavors of the beer as they do not correlate to the color of the cider or the label although some colors may do. The dark candi sugar, oak, rum and wildflower honey definitely goes with the colors of Selvaria and the pirate girl for sure though.

Blood Orange Tangerine by Common Cider Company

Blood Orange Tangerine by Common Cider Company is a 6.5% ABV Hard Cider made with Blood Oranges and Tangerines.

==Introduction==

Obtained this one from the local Bevmo shop but also saw this one at Total Wine. Trying things that are not beer sometimes can be pretty damn amazing. Craft ciders are really stepping their game up and going into the craft beer realm with different ingredients and flavors. So When I saw this cider made with Blood Orange and Tangerine, I really couldn’t help but be really tempted to try it. So here is my review for the first Cider I try from Common Cider Company. Cheers!

Aromas:
Apples, hints of oranges, orange peel, vanilla, mimosa hints, orange zest, coriander hints, lemon candy, cane sugar, lychee notes, sour green apples and some floral notes.

Flavors:
Rich Blood Oranges, Citrus, Tangerines, Orange peel, apricot hints, lemon zest, orange zest, coriander, lemon candy, cane sugar, lychee fruit, sour apples, red apples, chardonay, mimosa cocktail, wine hints, grapes and hints of granola.

Aftertaste:
Orange peel, tangerine candy, lemon peel, Apples, cane sugar and earthy notes. No alcohol in the taste, golden light body, crisp, clean and refreshing mouthfeel and easy to drink.

Overall:
A very good cider that really focuses more on the citrus side of things. It works really well with the whole aspect of being a cider. Meaning, even though this is an apple cider, the Orange and Tangerine goodness take over to showcase their flavors as being more a cider made with the oranges and tangerines more than they are of the apples. Very good cider and I would recommend it to those that love ciders.

Anime Corner:
This original character was used to complement the color of oranges, tangerines and blood oranges. Blood oranges in the sense that when I think of blood I think of evil or devious. So it works with the character looking like a little devil but the cuteness is the sweetness. The strength in the sword represents the bolder citrus flavor that really carries this cider through and through.

Habanero Cider by Finnriver

10592834_10102417090518190_4060156040130635280_nRating: 4/5* Cider Rating

Habanero Cider by Finnriver is a 6.5% ABV Apple cider made with Washington Organic Apples, Organic Habanero chillies and Organic Cane sugar.

Label:
Batch 814
Finnriver’s Habanero Cider release was inspired by the quest for something strange and a hankering for heat. In the winter of 2013, cold days on the farm coincided with the annual Strange Brew Festival in Port Townsend, WA. This gave our crew the inspiration to take the hottest thing we could get our hands on and blend it into out had cider. The combination of chili he4arr and tart apple, mellowed by a dash of sweet, makes for a memorable fermented adventure. Enjoy in any latitude with rice and beans, fish tacos burritos of all kinds, or just a crackling bowl of chips & salsa.

==Introduction==

My friend Aaron Mendiola from www.beermetaldude.com provided me with this special cider from Washington. I have never really seen this one. Aaron advised he has not tried this one and I do feel the honor to bring it to the site to see how it is. Seeing as I love spicy foods, habanero and apple cider seem like a very awesome combination. Let us see what this one is all about.

Aromas:
A whiff and you can tell the habanero is there, apples, vanilla, caramel, honey, sugar cane, brown sugar, biscuit bread, orange hints and bubble gum.

Flavors:
Fruity yet peppery notes of Habanero heat, apples, chardonay, mild vanilla, caramel, honey, sugar cane, biscuit notes, orange hints and bubble gum hints.

Aftertaste:
Finishes dry with notes of apple, and habanero spice. No alcohol in the taste. Clear light golden body, crisp and refreshing mouthfeel, but moderate drinkability due to the Habanero attack.

Overall:
As soon as you drink it the heat flows up into the nostrils through the nasal cavity in the back of the throat. I eat chilis all the time and this one is not too hot, but its almost like habanero fruitiness does travel to mess with the your breathing a bit. So basically the heat does not stay on the tongue for long and you do get to enjoy it, but make sure you sip this one as to not choke while drinking this. I think trying to get a good flavor profile was the challenge here. Even so, get this one if you love hot stuff. It is a well made cider for being one with habeneros.

Anime Corner:
Original Vampire Girl character was used in this pairing since I wanted to show something sweet and at the same time evil. While the cider is sweet, the habanero could be seen as evil. This is why I included both. The colors also compliment the label and the vampire girl eating the apple is like the habanero infusing itself into the apples of this cider.
