SPACE Bloody Orange Craft Cider By ACE California Cider Company is a 6.9% ABV Hard Apple Cider brewed with Blood Oranges

Label:
At a cantina on a star in a planetary system far far away, the surviving beautiful sister, takes a hit on a hookah pipe and listens for incider information… Who makes the best cider in the Universe?

SPACE it is out of this World!
“Brea”
==Introduction==

I first tried this cider back when I went to the Great Society Cidery in Long Beach, California. In remember that was one of the best ciders I have ever in a while. So I went to visit the CraftBeerKings.com in El Monte, California and there it was. The SPACE CIDER! No questions asked, I jumped to the occasion and brought this one home since I felt it was a cider duty to share this one with the world.

Aromas:
Oranges, citrus, blood oranges, grapefruit, vanilla, Wild flower honey, honey blossom flowers, stone fruit apricots, sour apples, pineapple, passion and dragon fruit.

Flavors:
Blood Oranges, Honey blossom flowers, Wild flower honey, grapefruits, tangerine gummies, pineapple hints, dragon fruit hints, passion fruit hints, orange peels, grapefruit peel, coriander spice, sour green apples, cane sugar, kumquats and mild tart apricots.

Aftertaste:
Finishes tart and dry with flavors apples, honey, blood oranges, tart grapefruit, waffle cone, and cane sugar. No alcohol in the taste, unfiltered hazy pink grapefruit colored body, crisp, clean and refreshing mouthfeel and easy to drink.

Overall:
A perfect cider. There was no doubt in my mind since that first time I tried this cider that I would have to bring it to the site. Ace makes great ciders and I have worked to try to make my ciders just as great but one using actual blood orange pulp gives me ideas to try out with future ciders for sure. Regardless, getting this one more commonly would be something I would love to see. If you love ciders, this would be great to pick up. I highly recommend this one!

Anime Corner:
Lalaco GodSpeed from Space Patrol Luluco was used in this pairing as she pairs well with being a Space Pirate, red and orange to fit with the color, ingredients and flavors of the beer. While is somewhat evil (orange bitterness), she cares for her family and would do anything for them as shown later on in the series (the sweetness of the apples and orange pulp). She is definitely one hot Milf that definitely fits with the cider and the story.

Victoria by Inland Empire brewing

11902529_10102772115016250_8905767293887676579_nRating: 5.35/6

Victoria by Inland Empire brewing is an 11% ABV American Strong Ale brewed with Orange zest and Orange Blossom Honey.

Label:
Named after Victoria Avenue in Riverside where we get oranges to hand zest. The orange zest lends a slight bitterness, which together with the hops, creates a unique citrus flavor and aroma. Orange blossom honey is also added to augment the already apparent malt flavors. Enjoy!

==Introduction==

Inland Empire is making some great brews as I heard but this is actually the first time I get a shot at one of these brews. I got this one at craftshack.com since I have yet to even see one in my side of the neighborhood. At 11% ABV, American Strong this seems like a winner as there aren’t many American Strong beers out there that are purely Strong and do not belong to a specific style but are very rich in flavor. If that is the case, then this one must awesome! Let’s take a look a this one. Cheers!

Aromas:
Great amount of malty deliciousness like caramel, orange honey blossom flowers, honey, maple, Oranges, Blood Oranges, Citrus, Tangerines, Grapefruit hops, caramel, vanilla, rye bread, mango, butterscotch, sourdough bread, flower notes, oak, earthy hop notes, toasted barley, butterscotch, sourdough bread, flower notes, oak, earthy hop notes, toasted barley and brown sugar.

Flavors:
Oranges, Blood Oranges, Citrus, Tangerines, Grapefruit hops, rich honey, rich toffee, dulce de leche caramel, vanilla, rye bread, mango hints, butterscotch, sourdough bread, flower notes, oak, earthy hop notes, toasted barley, toasted coconut hints, dark fruit raisins, dates, figs, dark cherries, stone fruit apricots, honey dew melon, dragon fruit hints, passion fruit, pecan pie, hazelnut nectar, flan hints, brown sugar and sweetened condensed milk hints.

Aftertaste:
Grapefruit hops, rich honey, toffee, vanilla, stone fruit, dark fruit, earthy hints and toasted coconut hints. No alcohol in the taste, medium to full deep amber and honey body, creamy, syrupy and velvety mouthfeel and way too easy to drink despite the ABV and should be take in carefully.

Overall:
Reminding me of Double Bastard but with more citrus and honey flavors, this beer is pretty damn exceptional! For being named after a Mexican Lager, this is not that light lager beer and is a completely different Victoria! The dangerous part about this beer is its drinkability. I almost finished the bottle just by trying to figure out all the goodies this posses. Citrus, Honey, Malty goodness and all around awesome. A definite winner and one I will need to seek again if I can find it. If you can find it, it is a must win win!

Anime Corner:
Reiko Mikami from Ghost Sweeper Mikami was used in this pairing as I wanted to contrast the rich flavors of the beer such as the orange, honey, complex fruits and malts as well as complement the label. Mikami shows her flavors like orange and honey of her hair, green hops in her eyes and her dress of complex dark fruits. She is strong in the show as represented by the ABV and it is her sexiness that makes this beer attractive and smooth.

Blood Orange Tangerine by Common Cider Company

11828778_10102736453457300_5085466321503561224_nRating: 4.25/5 *Cider Rating

Blood Orange Tangerine by Common Cider Company is a 6.5% ABV Hard Cider made with Blood Oranges and Tangerines.

==Introduction==

Obtained this one from the local Bevmo shop but also saw this one at Total Wine. Trying things that are not beer sometimes can be pretty damn amazing. Craft ciders are really stepping their game up and going into the craft beer realm with different ingredients and flavors. So When I saw this cider made with Blood Orange and Tangerine, I really couldn’t help but be really tempted to try it. So here is my review for the first Cider I try from Common Cider Company. Cheers!

Aromas:
Apples, hints of oranges, orange peel, vanilla, mimosa hints, orange zest, coriander hints, lemon candy, cane sugar, lychee notes, sour green apples and some floral notes.

Flavors:
Rich Blood Oranges, Citrus, Tangerines, Orange peel, apricot hints, lemon zest, orange zest, coriander, lemon candy, cane sugar, lychee fruit, sour apples, red apples, chardonay, mimosa cocktail, wine hints, grapes and hints of granola.

Aftertaste:
Orange peel, tangerine candy, lemon peel, Apples, cane sugar and earthy notes. No alcohol in the taste, golden light body, crisp, clean and refreshing mouthfeel and easy to drink.

Overall:
A very good cider that really focuses more on the citrus side of things. It works really well with the whole aspect of being a cider. Meaning, even though this is an apple cider, the Orange and Tangerine goodness take over to showcase their flavors as being more a cider made with the oranges and tangerines more than they are of the apples. Very good cider and I would recommend it to those that love ciders.

Anime Corner:
This original character was used to complement the color of oranges, tangerines and blood oranges. Blood oranges in the sense that when I think of blood I think of evil or devious. So it works with the character looking like a little devil but the cuteness is the sweetness. The strength in the sword represents the bolder citrus flavor that really carries this cider through and through.

Blood Orange Wit by Refuge Brewery

1484680_10102435246209040_6503686542901602248_nRating: 4.75/5

Blood Orange Wit by Refuge Brewery is a 5%ABV Witbier brewed with Blood Oranges.

Label:
Without any doubt, the best things in life happen spontaneously, and this beer is no exception. Not having much experience with fresh blood oranges, we weren’t entirely sure what to do when one of our tasting room locals dropped off a couple of sacks from their harvest. We cut into them and discovered an orange unlike any variety we’d seen. They were dark in color, with huge aroma, and a semi-sweet yet slightly tart taste. So we took the fruit, peel and all, and threw it into a batch of Belgian Style Wit Ale. The Result is a bright and refreshing brew, perfect for any occasion, any time of the year.

==Introduction==

I obtained a single can of this from www.craftshack.com. It seems this beer sold out quick and maybe there is a reason. It is made with Blood Oranges after all, but maybe there is more to it. I have tried other Blood Orange beers like the Essence from Hangar 24 or the Dude’s Juice Box Series Blood Orange and those were damn awesome. I hope to review the Dude’s one soon but let us check this one out. I have had a minor fascination with blood oranges as unlike regular oranges, have a red pulp and juice that looks like blood but the skin is of a regular orange. The flavors are similar to oranges but there is a slight sweetness that is greater. So let us see how this one is. Cheers!

Aromas:
Belgian phenolic hints, honey, biscuit bread, rich blood oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemon peel, Banana cloves, honey, waffle cone, cane sugar, biscuit bread, tangerine preserves, white grapes, Curacao, peppercorns, floral, piney, herbal, and grassy hop notes, coriander spice, stone fruit peach and apricots, orange zest, and lemon candy.

Flavors:
Oranges, Blood Oranges, citrus, lemon candy, tangerines, Banana cloves, honey, waffle cone, cane sugar, biscuit bread, tangerine preserves, phenolic notes, orange zest, lemon peel, grapefruit, peppercorns, floral, piney, herbal, and grassy hop notes, coriander spice, white grape notes, Curacao citrus, lavender notes, apricot, peach notes and mild tart brettanomyces hints.

Aftertaste:
Rich citrus, Honey, biscuit bread, orange zest, blood orange juice, grassy, grapefruit and piney hint hops. No alcohol in the taste, crisp, refreshing, effervescent and bubbly mouthfeel, easy to drink, Hazy white pale honey medium body.

Overall:
A very delicious Witbier. For being pretty light, it is very flavorful and rich. I wish I had the opportunity to buy a pack of cans instead of just one can as this was very good. Unfortunately, craftshack only had one left. You get what you can I guess. I highly recommend this one since I will go back and get it if I can find it again. This is one of the truest summer beers out there. Very awesome indeed!

Anime Corner:
Shura Kirigakure from Blue Exorcist was used in this pairing since I wanted something that has to do with the colors of oranges and blood oranges. Essentially the reds and oranges coming from the fruit. Shura is an exorcist and by the definition of refuge, she is basically keeping your soul from harm by her need to fight off possessive demons. She is light and easy drink and best part, she loves beer just like many people do. Cheers!

Blood & Honey by Revolver brewing

Blood & Honey by Revolver brewing is a 7% ABV American Pale Wheat Ale brewed with Blood Orange peel, honey and spices.

Label:
An unfiltered deep-golden ale made with malted two-row barley and wheat. Finished with Blood Orange peel, Texas honey and a blend of spices.
___

Straight out of Texas, this dual gunner beer was a generous donation by my friend Aaron Mendiola of www.beermetaldude.com. The name alone is enough to make me want to try it. Blood Oranges or beers with Blood Orange are a treat that doesn’t really come out often. While Blood Oranges themselves taste just like Oranges but look like bloody pulp, it is still intriguing as the mind tends to believe there is a possibility that it taste like something more. Like when giving a blind test people vanilla pudding with brown food coloring, they will say it taste like chocolate. The mind tends to add things. Anyway, aside from that, I am looking for to try this one and to see how it fares. Cheers!

Aromas:
Honey comb, caramel, toffee, grapefruit hints, citrus, biscuit bread, piloncillo sugar cone, maple hints, wheat, peach, mango, blood oranges, lemon zest, coriander spice, strawberry hints, banana yogurt and clove spice.

Flavors:
Honey comb, caramel, biscuit bread, bananas, clove spice, piloncillo, peach, mango hints, cinnamon, maple hints, grapefruit, blood oranges, lemon zest, coriander spice, herbal hop bitterness, wheat bread, strawberry hints and pumpkin hints.

Aftertaste:
Honey comb, peach, strawberry hints, lemon zest, blood orange peel, wheat bread and herbal hop bitterness. No alcohol in the taste. Crisp and refreshing. Medium drinkability, medium mouth feel with a hazy full body.

Overall:
This beer is very good. There is an underlying sweetness in the that is moderately complex which I really believe is attributed to the ingredients used in the beer. This is not the typical wheat ale and has a lot of interesting things going on here. While beer itself is not red, there is nothing left but the taste and aromas to decipher what it is truly like. I can definitively say I like this one and it is worth trying.

Anime Corner:
Revy from Black Lagoon was used in this pairing to go with the brewery’s dual wield label. The blood orange aspect of the beer pays tribute to the deadly but sweet aspect of who Revy. While cold hearted and ruthless as she is for killing, the honey comes into play to show that sweet side of her that is typically not a part of her. It more likely balances her character out in a way. The moon in the background picture also pairs with the name of the beer because Blood and Honey have been 2 different types of descriptions given to some of the moons colors depending on the year season. Revy’s orange aura also compliments the blood oranges as well.
