Cookies and Dreams collaboration by The Bruery and Abnormal Beer Co is a 10.4% ABV Cookie Inspired Imperial Stout brewed with Cacao Nibs and Vanilla Beans.
==Introduction==
I had originally tried this one at the Bruery’s 9th anniversary event and was recently given the opportunity to bring this one to the site. This one is inspired by Cookies and Cream ice cream. Essentially, the Oreo cookies and cream or at least what I believe it to be. It doesn’t use Black Tuesday but an original stout recipe brewed in the collaboration for this beer. I have not tried anything from Abnormal before so this would count. Also, the fact that this is an oreo based beer is something that I really really wanted to share. So let’s have at it, cheers!
Aromas:
Banana split, cookies and cream, vanilla, caramel, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, dark fruits, pecan pie, hazelnut nectar, rocky road ice cream, coconut, anise, mocha ice cream, cherries, fruit cake, crème brulee, burnt sugar and sweetened condensed milk.
Flavors:
Chocolate chip cookies, Cookies and cream, oreos, vanilla, Danish cream, Irish cream, mocha coffee, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, German chocolate, cocoa powder, dark fruit raisins, currants, prunes, dark cherries, pomegranates, banana hints, anise, mint chocolate chip, white chocolate, cookie dough ice cream, rocky road ice cream, chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, dulce de leche caramel, licorice notes, jamoca ice cream, raspberry cordials, toffee, crème brulee, hazelnut nectar, pecan pie, cherry marzipan and fruit cake
Aftertaste:
Finishing rich with chocolate cookie dough flavors, vanilla, dark fruits, dark chocolate, caramel, fruit cake, cookies and cream, oreos, banana and mint chocolate chips. No alcohol in the taste despite the ABV. Pitch black body, smooth, creamy, velvety and chewy mouthfeel along with a sipping drinkability.
Overall:
An amazing beer! Lot’s of chocolate, oreo cookie and cream flavors. It doesn’t stop there though, there are so many flavors all over making this an overall cookies and cream dessert. The name is damn appropriate too. I have no idea if they mashed actual cookies in this but it sure feels like it. They gotta release this in bottles! If you have a chance to try it at the Bruery, definitely get it!
Anime Corner:
Harley Quinn from DC comics’ Batman series was chosen to represent the beer in the sense that the colors and flavors are sweet and insane! Essentially, with the black and white colors of the original Harley Quinn along side with the complex flavors of the Suicide Squad Harley, it make sense. Especially since you have the 2 Harleys representing the 2 breweries. It was kind of a stretch but in general, since I haven’t done a pairing with Harley, I felt this would be the right one.
