A special thanks for the hook up to the lord of beermetaldude.com, Aaron Mendiola. This beer comes from Arizona and is brewed by SanTan. Being so close to California, I have yet to try an Arizona brew. This is my first and this awesome. I was able to get a second can to do a review later one but just the honor of bringing a SanTan beer to the reviews is awesome. This one is a pineapple wheat beer. I have tried a Watermelon wheat beer before which really was not that great unfortunately. You be the judge on that one though. I really hope this one does better but I will only be able to tell once we do the review. So let’s go and cheers!

Aromas:
Banana, clove spice, peppercorns, biscuit bread, citrus, pineapple hints, vanilla, caramel, floral notes, honey, honey dew melon, herbal spices and old mango.

Flavors:
Bananas, clove spice, Pineapple hints, tangerine, citrus, honey, passion fruit, old mango, honey dew melon, Orange, peppercorns, biscuit bread, ,mango, vanilla, caramel, floral notes, lemon peel and honeycomb.

Aftertaste:
Pineapple, banana, citrus, biscuit bread, clove spice and lemon peel linger. No alcohol in the taste, easy to drink refreshing and crisp. Light to medium mouth feel, and clear body.

Overall:
This is very good. It is like the Belgian wit meets German heff but on the tropical fruitier side. I can easily see my self buy several of these for a nice summer day as it is pretty refreshing. The addition of the pineapple gives it some nice tropical character without taking too much from the Belgian wit goodness. In fact it does compliment it a bit. A very nice beer if you can find it.

Anime Corner:
Original character by artist Happoubi Jin was chosen for this pairing to show case some of the label art work as well as the beer flavors. While the pineapple up in the corner is represents the pineapple flavor of the beer, the lady in the picture is representative of Mr./Miss Pineapple. Her colors are those that compliment the label well. The green of the stem and the blonde hair of the skin of pineapple. Her eyes give way to the Belgian aspect as in their use of special yeast gives nice fruity flavors and in some Belgians, the dark fruits.

Hoegaarden Original Belgian Wheat Beer by Brouwerij van Hoegaarden is a 4.9% ABV Witbier

Label:
Unfiltered, naturally cloudy. A delicious and surprising refreshing taste, naturally cloudy and brewed using a unique recipe of wheat, malted barley and a subtle hint of coriander and orange peel
___

Aromas of lemon, hops, orange peel, coriander spice, wheat bread, honey, banana, cloves, peppercorn, flowers and biscuits. The taste is of light coriander and clove spices, light Belgian wheat bread, oranges, lemons, honey, peppercorns, some grassy hops but with minor bitterness, bananas, pears and pineapple juice notes, The biggest thing about this beer is that is is quite refreshing. Belgian flavors that come not so overwhelming but enough to be pleasant, easy to drink and is low in ABV. While not the greatest of Belgian beers, still above average from normal beers, easier to find in some cases and definitely one to get for the summer. Very good beer to check out ๐Ÿ™‚

5 Golden Rings by The Bruery

5 Golden Rings by The Bruery is a 11.5% ABV Belgian Strong Golden Ale brewed with Pineapple Juice and Spices

Label:
The fifth verse in our โ€œTwelve Beers of Christmasโ€ saga incorporates sweet, cake-like spice into a rich and robust golden ale. Happy Holidays!
___

This is the latest installment to the 12 beers of Christmas. The aromas of the 5 golden rings is reminiscent of some of those special Tripels or special Belgian Pale Ales. This has aromas of pineapple, apples, mango, guavas, apricots, banana cloves, biscuit bread and possibly like a vanilla danish. The flavors are of mango, pineapple, peaches, guavas, oranges, apples, pears, banana cloves, biscuit bread, bit of pepper corns, caramel, honey, vanilla, coriander spice, wheat and cane sugar. The aftertaste is of caramel, banana and more pineapple. Well hidden alcohol. Although it is a pretty sweet beer and I love sweet beers, the hard part is trying to distinguish between what was of flavors created through actual fermentation versus what was added to give it the easily noted flavors. I don’t really mind this at all. In fact I wouldn’t rate the beer this high if I didn’t think it was delicious but just be warned that you will get a great amount of pineapple which was a added versus fermentation created. Either way, great beer worth the try. People that don’t like tangy and sweet beers may not find this one appealing. To each his own I say. Besides, this is meant for aging. It is still too early in the tasting process to see it’s true potential over a several years. I am sure it will blow my mind next time :D.
