Frucht: Cherry by The Bruery Terreux is 5.4% ABV Berliner Weisse aged in an oak foeder with Cherries.

Label:
Fruity – Funky – Racy

DESCRIPTION
Welcome to Frucht, our land of fruited Berliner Weisse-style beers. Known for a tart flavor profile and traditionally low ABV, our German-style wheat beer gains even more funky notes and natural earthy-woodiness from fermentation in one of our twin oak foeder vessels – the largest known to be fabricated in this country.

Each installment in the series features a new fruit, or Frucht, if we’re Sprechen sie Deutsch. This installment has cherries added, which impart a bright, fruity tartness and elegant hue to the beer.

Released to all societies and the public, this is the next released in their fruit sour series. There have been many cherry sour ales I have tried. Some better than others but this one is closest to the Cherry Berxarliner from Freet Tail. Or atleast I think since it is the same style with cherries. Although that beer was definitely very balanced in terms of sweet and tartness. This year there have been several releases from the Bruery Terreux and it is Cherry as the next fruit. Let’s see how this one turns out, cheers!

Aromas:
Biscuit bread, vanilla, oak, wine grapes, dark fruit cherries, lemon peel, peppercorn, floral notes, hibiscus, tropical fruit notes, honey, tangerines, strawberries, passion fruit, dragon fruit, guava hints, and kumquat hints.

Flavors:
Sweet Tart cherries, biscuit bread, pomegranates, mild raspberries, lemon peel, floral notes, hibiscus, dark cherry yogurt, tangerines, apples, wine grapes, sangria, Concorde grapes, pink salt hints, tropical notes of passion fruit, dragon fruit, pineapple, honey dew melon, banana hints, wheat bread, sourdough bread, oak, vanilla, sour apples, kumquats, tomato hints, farmhouse hay, cherry skins, grapefruit peel and strawberries.

Aftertaste:
Finishes very dry with notes of dark cherries, yogurt, stone fruit, flowers, oak, vanilla and lemon peel. No alcohol in the taste, clear rosy golden light body, crisp, refreshing and effervescent mouthfeel with a moderate to sipping drinkability.

Overall:
Very cherry tart delicious brew. A true Berlinerweisse with a lot of things going for it. Sweet and Sour but definitely more sour than sweet. Although the complexity is there, its dry finish makes you wanting more. I feel I have had better cherry sours but this one is definitely for the light sour drinkers. People that loveSai sours will enjoy this one.

Anime Corner:
Sailor Rini Moon/Chibi Usa/ Dark Lady from Sailor Moon and the Rini/Dark Lady inspired characters Star Guardians Lux and Jinx from League of Legends were used in this pairing as I wanted to bring Rini to a Bruery beer. Since the artists that released some special art of the inspired Lux character, I wanted to bring her into the pairing as well. She looks just like Rini. Jinx looks just like Dark Lady, which is essentially Rini grown up. The pairing for this beer was mainly for the color but also her character which is mainly sweet but sour at times.
