Wild Streak by Brooklyn brewery is a 10% ABV American Wild Ale aged in bourbon barrels.
Label:
There was a time when all beers were aged in wood and yeasts ran wild and converted together. Modern brewing is wonderful, but sometimes a little converting is a fine thing. Brooklyn Wild Streak is our barrel-aged Belgian-inspired golden ale enlivened by the earthy funk of wild yeast called Brettanomyces. It’s particularly great with cheeses and game meats. Oh, go ahead. You know you want to.

Special thanks for Aaron at www.beermetaldude.comfor hooking me up with this one. While this is not from Texas, Brooklyn brewery stuff is hard to come by here in California. This is the second one I ever get a chance to try. I like a lot of wild ales but this one is with bourbon barrels. So I expect this one to be sweeter than sour.
Aromas:
Lots of stone fruit like peaches, apricot, lychee mango, citrus, vanilla, oak, bourbon, honey, waffle cone, musty grape notes, good cheese, biscuit bread, butterscoth, floral notes, peppercorns, white grapes, coriander spice, pears, apples, coconut hints, brettanomyces funk and candi sugar.
Flavors:
Old peaches, apricots, apples, plums, lychee, mango hints, citrus, vanilla, oak, bourbon, waffle cone, honey comb, coconut, brettanomyces, peppercorns, coconuts hints, apples, pears, coriander spice, white grapes, barnyard hay, good cheese hints, biscuit bread, butterscotch, floral notes, candi sugars, peach cobbler and hints of flan.
Aftertaste:
Peach cobbler, peppercorns, oak, citrus, musty white grapes and bourbon hints. No alcohol in the taste but a sipping beer. This one is quite refreshing despite the ABV.
Overall:
Very delicious and exceeding a little bit I must say. This one reminds me a lot of Curieux except tart fruit character as well as the stone fruit is more present than that souring aspect. A more closer to a Belgian Golden Ale than a sour. Of course, with the complexity of the bourbon barrels and brettanomyces and you really have a great beer. No sure why it is rated low in some instances but this one is off the chain!
Anime Corner:
Zone-Tan from the Zone Archive series was used in this pairing as I wanted to complement some of the colors of the label but also the fact that a wild streak is is something that has devious or violent tendencies. Despite her being nice and sweet, she holds in a lot of power and can be very unforgiving. The beer shows characteristics of being a sweet beer but it has some tart notes and just the bourbon character elevates it to some devious tendencies itself. Much like Zone-tan, Wild streak is a very delicious and sweet beer despite being a super utter sour.
