A Saison Darkly by Stillwater Artisanal

A Saison Darkly by awesome gypsy brewer, Stillwater Artisanal. It stands at 8% ABV with “take your time to enjoy” drink-ability. Brewed in Belgium in a realm where what should not exist does. This is due to a heightened sense of perception. Or just “feel good” factor . A realm where only the mind, body and soul can become one with a higher dimension or even beer tasting experience ;). A dark Saison/Farmhouse Ale that drinks and smells like a stout with roasty malt notes and delicious burnt sugars and dark fruit reminiscent of a quad ale. It is spiced with Rose hips, Hibiscus ( or Jamaica which is the Mexican Hibiscus drink) as well as Schisandra berries. These berries are from China and are made for medicinal purposes with sweet, sour and salty flavors. This is the second time I try this beer. For the second round this is just amazing. What we have here is raisin, caramel bread, cocoa, burnt oak, dark cherries and figs. For a little bottle it is very thick. Sip with ease. This ale reminds me of a less boozy Judgment ale mixed with 3 philosophers. It stands on it’s own as epic due to its not so common dark smokey saison style. This is only but a preview of the Folklore legend which I had mentioned in an earlier review but even at that packs a lot more fruits :P. Definitely a pick up….of course if you can find it…..

Original Review:
Finally got around to trying this. This beer looks like a stout but is very different. Nice bitterness coming in and leaves off with sweet dark fruit flavors. Art isn’t the only factor of liking this beer. I would definitely recommended if you can find it. I found this one in Wally’s wines and spirits at Westwood CA
