Blakkr collaboration by 3 Floyds, Surly and Real Ale Brewing is a 9.99% ABV Imperial Black India Pale Ale.
This double black as night IPA is too massive for just one brewery’s efforts. Blakkr took the trinity of Real Ale Brewing Co., Surly Brewing Co. & Three Floyds Brewing Co. to actualize this crushing ale. Cheers.
A special gift from my friend Aaron at beermetaldude.com. I was looking forward to trying this one for a long time and wondered how I would get it as the breweries that were involved in this project are very popular to the point where their beer is hard to find. I have yet to find the 22 oz. bomber of this beer but I am very thankful that the cans were readily available near where my friend Aaron lives. This beer was something I didn’t expect as a gift but because my friend was thoughtful, we now can have a review for the site. Thank you once again brother, many cheers!! I look forward to finding the 22 oz. bombers of this for our sites. This version is the Real Ale version of the beer that comes in cans. There is another canned version by Surly and the 22oz. By 3 Floyds. So hopefully we can find it.
Earthy hops, citrus, tropical fruit like melon and pineapples, toffee, roasted barley, campfire smoke, dark chocolate, dark fruits, herbs, spices, rye, brown sugar hints, molasses and anise.
Earthy, grassy, piney and herbal hops, dark roasted barley, caramel, dark chocolate, smokey campfire, marshmallows, old raisins, tropical fruits like melon and mango, citrus, pineapple, rye bread, molasses, anise, coffee and tangerine marmalade on toast.
Earthy and piney hops linger with the smokey and roasted barley as well as citrus and caramel. No alcohol in the taste and very smooth despite having a medium to full mouth feel. A sipping yet very drinkable beer.
Well played fellas, Very Well played. The Trio of beers strikes with this black gold drink. A very damn good Black IPA full of balanced flavors sneaking in the tropical and hoppy aspects of the IPA and the smokey malty and sweetness that does not over power the IPA character but guides it. Definitely worth trying if you can find this Real Ale or any of the other versions for sure.
Dark Warrior Girl and Angel and Demons original artwork pieces were used to pair with Blakkr since I wanted show the similarities in the art as it pairs with the three headed demon that was created by by the collaboration. I also wanted to pair with the 3 collaborators themselves as their breweries and beer always has a hint of darkness and evil. Excellent stuff guys!
