Dogzilla Black India Pale Ale by Laughing Dog Brewing is an twisted 6.9%ABV IPA. I admit I grabbed it because I am a big fan of the King of Monsters, Godzilla but also because it is an IPA. A malty twisted monster. This beer is something very few people will like. Trust me, unless you have developed a taste for sour ales like Jolly Pumpkin, then don’t go near this one. It bites back. I have had different IPAs in the past. Some more fruity, sweet, chocolaty and bitter. Not this one. LOL Oh no!!!…I would assume if someone took an IPA an turned the bitterness into sourness then this is it. I have never tasted anything like it. But honestly, it has it’s own charm that I like about it because it is so different. You start off with citrus and pine flavor and then you go into grape sour chocolate malt central. Fruitiness of caramel and cherry are very minor as the monster of the sourness and funkiness overwhelms the rest of the beer. The bitterness actually acidic in nature. As you go on, your taste buds should be numb enough to taste something good here some sweet chocolate and coffee. They sure let the dog out. Even the label says that this beer is very twisted:
and a terrible sound
He pulls the rack of kegs
all down
He picks up a bottle and he
throws it back down
As he wades through the kegs
towards the center of town
Oh no, they say he’s got to go,
GO GO DOGZILLA
