The deepest darkest parts of the ocean abyss is not for those afraid of the brimey deep. Neither is it for anyone that cant withstand several metric tons of pressure. As deep and perplex the deepest part of the ocean can be, it can only be imagined in flavor. Dark Depths Baltic IPA by Sam Adams is a brew that is a hybrid of something sweet and chocolatey like a porter with hoppy IPA bitterness. The flavors of bitter hops meet the chocolate sweetness of from the malts. Even though the hops of the IPA are more dominant in this ale, the bitterness is met with sweetness. Quite the conundrum. Don’t be fooled into believing this is like a Black IPA as it is not. The deep flavor is more sweet than bitter for sure. For those that are fans of Porters and IPAs, this beer may be for you :P. Get it while you still can, otherwise it will return to the abyss from which the dark depths of flavor came from :O
