Norse Legend by Sam Adams, is a Sahti ale at 7% ABV. Sahti is a special style of Farmhouse beer as made in Finland. Brewed mainly in barley, rye, wheat and oats with fermented bread and Juniper berries for flavoring. This particular brew is said to be brewed in the style as was famous in the times of the vikings. It was brewed by women in the 1500s and it is a style that succeeded eve
n the test of time :D. Taste like the forest. Maple syrup, rye bread, dark fruit flavor (from the Juniper I’m sure), some caramel, vanilla bean, apricot and minor roast of coffee. There is this oyster like flavor in the backbone but it is camouflaged by the other flavors and the booze. This is more malty than the bready Sahti from DogFish head for sure. Nevertheless, a good beer and would be worthy of a try.
