La Trappe Quadrupel Trappist Ale

La Trappe Quadrupel Trappist Ale at 10% ABV is a Quadruple fermented ale by Bierbrouwerij De Koningshoeven B.V. I have always glazed this one over and well, in my mind I was like I should try it one day. So here it is Belgian beer fans :P. The story of the brewery goes:

Since 1884, the monks of Koningshoeven have brewed La Trappe Ales to support themselves. Made with traditional ingredients and age old recipes, La Trappe Ales use the most modern quality-control methods to produce beer that is the perfect marriage of the old and the new. Fermentation takes place using a type of yeast which is most active between 62 F and 68 F. This type of fermentation is called top fermentation.La Trappe Ales are made from carefully selected malts and hops and fermented with a strain of yeast unique to Koningshoeven. Each of the La Trappe Ales bottles is conditioned for a full, complex flavor and long shelf life. Unlike commercially produced, filtered and pasteurized beer, La Trappe Ale can be aged like fine wine.

This brewery is one of only seven Trappist breweries in the world authorized to use the “Authentic Trappist Product” logo. The six other authorized breweries are in Belgium: Achel, Westvleteren, Orval, Rochefort, Chimay, and Westmalle.
==================

Anyways, this review is about La Trappe, one of the Trappist beers in the world :P. What can I say that has not already been said about heaven, simply delight and delicious. We start off with flavors of strong banana bread with caramelized sugar and leche Nestle (Mexican sweetened condensed milk) in the after taste. Not a dark brew but man is it very complex, fruity and overall supreme. Raisins, plums and figs as well as some minor apple notes. With that addition it is like drinking a banana capirotada (Mexican sweet bread with bananas, raisins, nuts and cinnamon). I was not wrong at all when choosing this beer. Surely it was mean to be. That is why I write about it so praisingly. Make no mistake, it is a Trappist beer. Only one of the best in the world and highly regarded. Not for the beginners and sure something for the Belgian beer lovers at heart :3. I recommend it!!!, NO…you have not lived until you have tried this :O!!
