Hercules Double IPA by Great Divide Brewing company is a massive and powerful beer at 10%ABV. Made with a massive amount of hops rating International Bitterness Units of 85. Although there is the initial piney, citrus, grassy feel as most IPAs, this was has a nutty caramel backbone. It is therefore, caramel copper in color. The taste is pure hops through and through but the malts are there to compliment and not fight the hops to let the true brew of gods seem ambrosia into the taste buds of mortal men and women everywhere. Such is what you will find in this dynasty of a bottle. This sort of reminds me of the double bastard in a way it is crazy. While The Stone Double Bastard is a seasonal, I can at least pick this up and try its great flavors all through out the year. It was a recommendation from the local craft brew shop in Downey California. Whoever lives near or in South Gate and enjoys craft brews should definitely stop by and look at their selection. While Wally’s, Ramirez and Bevmo are kinda far away from me, this is my secret one stop shop for nice brews :). As for this strength in a bottle, I will be picking this up once again for sure. A new brewery I have not tried but definitely one of my beer tasting opportunities to explore.
