A nice porter like dark ale with rich smooth flavor. Had this one at Carino’s in Santa Fe Springs

REVISIT: 1554 Enlightened Black Ale by New Belgium is a Belgium Dark Ale at 5.6% ABV. It is a light beer with a range of character and flavor. Although low in ABV, there are are minor hints of biscuit bread, coffee, chocolate, floral fragrance and spice. A beer for those that like good beer flavors but at a decent smooth and refreshing dry finish. It comes in small bottles as you can easily drink several of these. No yeast sediment nor too heavy. Story of this beer goes that the brewers had found some ancient Belgian book with a recipe for the style that came from 1554.It pays tribute to the days when Dark Beer in Belgium was like the “Bud light” common of the times. A decent beer to try if you want flavor but don’t want to get to hammered 😉
