Swing Harry Tropical Quad collaboration by Mikkeller and Cigar City

Rating: 4.95/5

Swing Harry Tropical Quad is a collaboration brew between Mikkeller and Cigar City Brewing. This is an 11.4% ABV Quadruple ale. Quadrupple as in 4 times fermented. Never really had a quadrupple that had other fruit flavors, aside from the usual dark fruits found in many delicious quads. LOL also another awesome thing about this beer is that it has ties to the Pitfall Video Game on the label itself. The extra fruityness adds some flavorss that are special and only unique to this type of beer. Cigar City usually makes beers that are …well…different. Just like the Murcielago which was like no other beer I have ever had.

Description:
A collaboration between Mikkeller and Cigar City, bottled by Mikkeller. This is described as a Belgian style ale brewed with Papaya and Mango and aged in Grand Marnier Cognac barrels. It’s ingredients include water, malts, brewing sugar, Citra and Simcoe hops, papaya, mango, and brettanomyces claussii yeast.

So how is this beer anyway? Well Let me start off with the basic quad elements that I get from this beer. Dulce de leche and Leche Nestle (Sweetened condensed Milk) on a toasted bread. Now we add raisins, cherries, plums and figs. It also has some licorice, oak and cinnamon too. There are some minor sweet hoppy grassy flavors in the back but not bitter. Just earthy hop tasting. Now it goes into the tropical flavors. Those I can definitely pickup are pineapple, peaches, mangos, papaya and strawberry. The alcohol is somewhat hidden but its more of a Bourbon or cognac flavor. It is well balanced. Cognac Barrel Aged quad with tropical flavors, a definite success for Belgian lovers out there. Recommended Dessert beer to pick up.
