10 Commandments by The Lost Abbey is a 10%ABV Belgian Strong Dubbel brewed with Honey, Raisins and Rosemary. This is the second time I review this beer. In late 2010 when I started to get into different types of beers, Lost Abbey was my first set of beers. Apart from Artistic labels and Artisanal Flavors, I knew there was something special about these beers and other beers. It made
From the Label / Lost Abbey’s Crusade:
Our Ten Commandments
1. The most imaginative beers are our crusade
2. We believe we are all in this together
3. We strive for honesty and integrity in our lives like you
4. Fresh beer is great, aged beer is better
5. Now that you have found us help us spread the message
6. There is good and evil in the world – our beers are good
7. Passion isn’t something you can buy at the corner store
8. We believe an inspired life is worth living
9. Life is about choices, The Lost Abbey is a great choice
10. We are not perfect, but no one is
With that said, on to the flavors. First, the fragrance of dark chocolate and bourbon. The flavors of Raisin bread, plums, grapes like that of wine, vanilla, honey, caramel and other spices. Hints of dark chocolate, apples and cherries are there. The feel of the beer is creamy and thick. According to their site, this beer is a stronger version of their lost and found Dubbel and it is half the process in fermentation from the Judgment Day quad. A great beer at that. Love Belgian styles, but being who I am I would prefer quads but even something like this is awesome. The yeast that Lost Abbey uses (Along with Raisins in the batch) is a signature that is prominent in many of their awesome beers :P. Season beer so grab it while it is gone. I usually get this at either Ramirez, Bevmo in Torrance or Total Wine. Go bless your soul before it is too late… Repent and try some 10 commandments 🙂
2011 Review:
Thou shalt drink good beer, or so it says in the label. This one is half the judgement day ale (Double Belgian style ) but still a great beer.
