Rating: 4/5#9 Not Quite Pale Ale by Magic Hat Brewing company is a fruity beer at 5.1% ABV. The number nine has always been a Magic Number. Even in songs like “Love potion number 9”. It is a mystery beer even in flavor as it is not quite the Pale Ale. Possible a Pale Ale trying to be a Saison or a fruit drink. Bitterness is only minor as it is taken over by the sweetness. There was this faint di
stinction that reminded of the Hazelnut nectar ale from Rogue but it is only in the back bone of the beer as it slowly flows into a grassy, bready and tropical flavors. Some peaches, citrus, mango, caramel, hazelnut vanilla, lemon and biscuit bread. I think if you were to take fat tire, add more floral hops to make it more of a fragrant pale ale and add yeast to give it a complexity of sweetness which gives a range of different fruit flavors, then maybe you would have something similar to this beer. Quite something interesting that some people might enjoy. It is quite different for sure.
