Midas Touch by Dogfish head is an herbal spiced beer ranking at 9% ABV. It is made with barley, honey, White muscat grapes and Saffron. Story from Dog Fish goes that this sweet yet dry beer is made with ingredients found in 2,700-year-old drinking vessels from the tomb of King Midas. Somewhere between wine and mead, Midas will please the chardonnay and beer drinker alike. For those who may not know the story of Midas, it was the story of a king that wish he could turn everything he touched into Gold. Legend has it that one day he accidentally turned his daughter to gold and it was at that point that he regretted his new found power. Asking the genie to take away his power as having his daughter was worth than any riches he could ever ask for, the genie took away the power. The moral was that it is not whether you have everything that will make you happy. It is more important to have your loved ones as only then will you know what true wealth is :). The beer is such that it is more on the grapey wine pilsner flavor. It is like a lager with sweet grape, apple pie and honey flavors. Refreshing, and very drinkable. Just be careful…as with gold…and this…there is such a thing as too much of a good thing here…;)
