Smashed Blueberry at 9% ABV by Shipyard Brewing is well… a blueberry fruit beer. The idea behind this is a porter and scotch ale hybrid…with blueberries. The moment you open the beer there is a lot of blueberry fragrance. I don’t think I have had a beer remind me of that breakfast blueberry yogurt so much as this one. There is this coffee and minor sweet chocolate aftertaste that is immediately replaced with more blueberry and milky yogurt type texture. The scotch is well hidden as it seems like a remnant after taste. This isn’t bad at all. An alternate breakfast beer. LOL well on the weekends ofcourse but nothing can replace more healthier selections. This is more of a nice luxury…hehehe XD…The really hard thing about reviewing a beer like this is the fact that blue berries are one of my favorite fruits and well it is a very sweet beer. However, because it is mainly blueberry and delicious to me, people that do not like sweet beers will definitely not like this. Oh well, their loss :). By the way this is a common beer to find on the craft beer shelves. Downey Liquor near South Gate carries this one. Worth a try? well.. only to those that like sweet and fruity beers 😛
