A Belgian strong dark ale like well… none I have tried so far. A very good one and not that common to find ale, Outblack. It is a 10% ABV collaborative masterpeice by the minds of the gypsy/gangster brewer, Stillwater Artisanal and Belgian brewer, De Struise. Not many are like this. It is kinda crazy too. The flavor reminds me of combining double bastard with St Bernardus Abt 12. Really out there and in darkness. Ingredients include Barley, Oats, Wheat, Rye, Hops, Sugar & yeast. Where does this complexity find a home? Not too sure but the bad thing is that it only comes in a small amount. Meaning you only get to try this once and here it goes. The flavors are all over the place. Sweet Chocolate, Vanilla caramel, bananas, figs, brown sugar bread, smokey maple, some very minor citrus and grassy pine. Surely a dessert type of beer. I mean as in it is a dessert on its own. Now if only they sold this in 750ml and common quantities :-/…Wally’s in Westwood has this and I am not sure for how long. Stillwater beers have always been hard to find but they are worth it!! Trappist, Quads, and Dark Belgian people will sure like this. I myself need to add it to the top of my favorite beers in the world. I do not know if Westvleteren 12 A.K.A best beer in the world compares but it sure should be up there.
