Hops N’ Roses by Captain Lawrence

Rating: 4.5/5

Hops N’ Roses by Captain Lawrence is a 5.5%ABV American Wild Ale aged in oak barrels with Rose hips, Elder Flowers, and Hibiscus (Jamaica Flower). Now this is a floral beer. When poured into a glass it looks just like a red and pink grapefruit juice. Different beer here. Reminded me of when I opened Tart of Darkness with it’s dark purple look. This is something else. A Tangy, Jolly pumpkin sour like ale with fruity and flowery sweetness and piney like bitterness. The sourness of grape wine brettanomyces is there mainly around the aftertaste. What truly flows is everything else. There are flavors here of the Jamaica, Strawberry, grapefruit, orange peel, roses, apricot, oak wood, cherry, raspberry yogurt. I guess the way flowers and roses smell is what really flows with this beer. Mighty fine :). Not sure which category of people would enjoy this one but one thing is for sure, the more I try it, the more I would it leaves an impression of flavor in the aftertaste. Almost like your drinking the beer still but you are not. Like the delicious sweet flowers just linger. I would almost say like Ruination, except instead of supreme bitterness, its flower sweetness.
