El Camino (Un) Real Black Ale by 21st Amendment, Stone, and Firestone Walker

2011 Review:
Another unique (Unreal as stated in the bottle) beer collaboration by 21st Amendment, Stone, and Firestone Walker Breweries. This is the El Camino (Un) Real Black Ale. Now about FW that I know about, makes very delicious beers like the hint hint “Black Xantus”, Merlin Stout, Solace, Union and Double Jack which I have tried in the past. The beer they bring today is an ale of pure magnificence. I have to stop and drink as I write this as it is …damn… good…The ale itself is made from nice spices such as Fennel and China Seed and Pink Peppercorns as well as a nice touch of Mission Figs. The ale is a sweet complexity within itself. You get flavors of chocolaty fig newton with caramel, vanilla and some roasted coffee. This beer actually also reminds me of the Still Water Scanner Darkly ale which I had a while back that had notes of dark figs and raisins. Ahh delicious. Bitterness is minor from stone, oaky sweet malty flavor from firestone and something complex of 21st century I’m sure. Regardless, the guys did a great job and I really like this collaboration. Leaves me thinking what other citrus malty fruity flavor will i find in this beer. Maybe I’ll go into a comma over 9000 flavors…LMAO….regardless…good all the way through
