Dorado by Ballast Point is a 9.6% ABV Double IPA. Ballast Point had released this beer several years ago and had not released it since. They only had this on tap in select locations but have brought it back. They had to make some rooms in the Sculpin IPA tanks for this release. This is the first time I try this beer and well, have been looking for it for a while. While this is rare indeed, it is an awesome DIPA, but it does not compete to it’s predecessor the Sculpin IPA. It is still world class and one of the the best DIPAs out there if you can find it. The primary focus on this is is orange and grassy pine flavors. They use 3 hop techniques: mashing, kettle and dry hop process. Honey, caramel, lemons, grapefruit, The alcohol and hoppy bitterness is felt through out the beer. There is also a nice bread and cinnamon spice feel taste that is faint. Tropical fruits like mango and pineapple is present as well. Hop heads and IPA fans will like this one 😛
