Bottleworks 13th Anniversay ale is a 11.4%ABV Strong ale brewed at Stone for Bottleworks of Seattle Washington. Every year they make a brew with different brewers to celebrate their anniversary as stores are not allowed to brew their own beers unless they have licenses to do so. So they decided to make their beer with Stone for their 13th anniversary. The goal in mind was to create a beer that had so many different malts and hops (13 of each to be exact) that it would encompass what the 13th anniversary of flavors would be. This was the result. This bottle includes:
HOP VARIETIES:
Bravo, Target, Columbus, Cascade, Delta, Warrior, Magnum, Apollo, Calypso, Perle, Galena, Chinook, Mt. Hood
MALT BILL:
Pale Two Row, White Wheat, Aromatic, Weyermann Chocolate Rye, Light Munich, Brown Crisp, Oats, Crisp Light Crystal, CaraMunich, Baird’s Chocolate, Lightly Peated, Simpsons Dark Crystal, Crisp Amber

The mesh is quite strong in both alcohol and in flavors. Smells like a stout mixed with a black IPA. Flavors of chocolate, smoked jerky, burnt sugars, herbs, camp fire wood, bacon, citrus, grapefruit, burnt grass and molasses. This ended up being pretty smokey and bitter than sweet. For many, this beer may not taste so good. After looking for other things in this beer I found that it is good in its own way. I don’t mind smokey or bitter beers but my preference goes for more sweeter. Although sweetness is found initially but ends up dry. People that like bitter and smokey beers will like this one. It is very creamy and thick so take it easy…Beers like these are meant to be enjoyed with pace.
