Mikkeller/Three Floyds BooGoop Buck Wheat Wine-Style Ale

BooGoop Buck Wheat Wine-Style Ale is a collaboration brew between the Darkness of Mikkeller and the Monsters at Three Floyds. When you mix the quality challenging mix of Mikkeller and the “not so normal” beers of Three Floyds you get this ectoplasmic entity beer. To explain what this beer is like, it is as if an Arrogant Bastard crashed with a Hefeweizen. Mixing hops and barley bitterness with the orange tangy zest of a heff. The ales is a 10.4% ABV in strength. Aside from the boozy alcohol and the thick creamy feel of this beer, it is quite the complex taste challenger. It is bitter sweet. Almost like the rich orange tangy lemon zest keeps the super hoppy bitterness tamed while still releasing the nice grassy hop and malty earth like flavors. Smells somewhat like honey and flowers. Ramirez Liquor in Soto and Whittier in East Los Angeles is where I found this one. There are times that they have some really rare find. Some to the point that I have not seen in Bevmo. Also, if you miss out on getting them, well goo luck finding them. For those that like hefeweizens and don’t mind IPAs or Arrogant Bastard, then this is a beer for you :). I enjoyed this one. Some may no like it though. But don’t let the name spook you. You may find a good spirit or two in this bottle 😉
